Matt's pov
Two days later and new shift today, and Jamie would be at the firehouse and of course he is really excited for.

Emily was getting ready because we needed to leave in 10 minutes, and I was helping Jamie to get ready and pack a bag for him. If he would get boring, I packed his iPad in his bag and a toy for him.

It was time to leave and we all where ready, we took Emily's car today  and then we left and drove to the firehouse.

Emily's pov
We just arrived at the firehouse, we all three walked inside to the locker room after Jamie had said "hey" to the guys on squad.
We walked inside to the locker room, Cruz and Otis was standing by there lockers.

Emily - hey guys!

Otis - hey!

Cruz - hey!

Otis - ooh is Jamie going to be here today?

Matt - he has that day "come with your parents at work day".

Emily - he is really excited to be here today, since it was awhile ago.

Cruz - Jamie would you like to take a ride in the truck?

Jamie - yes!

Cruz - I think we need to ask your dad and chief!

Jamie - can I dad?

Matt - we can see about that later, and I will ask Chief about it.

Jamie - okay.

Cruz and Otis left the locker room and they probably went to common room.

Matt - Jamie we should put your bag in my office.

Jamie - okay!

Emily - you two do that, and I will go to common room.

Matt - okay

We all left, but they went to the bunker where Matt's office is and the beds and I went to common room.

When I came to the common room, the guys from truck was sitting at the table with a cup of coffee and talking. Shay and Dawson was also there and they did the same thing, Mouch was sitting at his usual spot which is on the couch.

I took a cup of coffee and took a seat at the table, and I was sitting with Herrmann, Cruz and Otis.

Herrmann - I heard that Jamie is here.

Emily - yeah.

Herrmann - so where is he?

Emily - he is just leaving his bag in Matt's office!

He just nodded his head, I was so glad to have the guys. Because they where all so carrying about Jamie, and I know that he likes them too.

I sat there with the guys for a couple of minutes, when Casey  and Jamie came in to common room. Jamie walked up to where I was sitting and I lifted him up so he was sitting on my lap, and Casey took a cup of coffee and then he came to the table and took a seat also.

Dawson - so who is this?

Emily - this is Jamie.

Dawson - hey Jamie!

Jamie - hey, who are you?

Dawson - I'm Dawson!

Emily - she is working with me and Shay!

We sat there and talking, and Jamie was playing a game with both Cruz and Otis.
I was talking to Herrmann, and Matt had left common room because he needed to talk with Chief about something. Shay and Dawson was sitting there and just watching when Cruz and Otis was playing with Jamie.
But I could see that Dawson was looking a little weird at Jamie, and maybe it is because he looks like Matt and she doesn't know anything.

After we had been sitting in the common room for 15 minutes or more and just talking. Casey came back out to the common room.

Matt - truck let's go and do some drills

Cruz - of course lieutenant.

Jamie - mom where is Severide?

Emily - he is out at squad table.

Jamie - can I go to him?

Emily - sure, but I want you to stay there or come back inside to me.

Jamie - okay.

Herrmann - Scott I can go with him, since we are going to be out there and do some drills.

Emily - thanks Herrmann.

Herrmann - let's go Jamie!

Jamie jumped down from the chair, and he followed the guys from truck and his dad out on the apparatus floor.

The guys where out and we girls where in the common room and doing nothing.

Dawson - Jamie is really sweet!

Emily - thanks, he is like his dad!

Dawson - can I ask? Who is his dad?

Emily - Casey is!

Dawson - lieutenant Casey?

Me and Shay just looked at each other and I could see that she wanted to laugh.

Shay - bingo!

I could see the that Dawson was surprised to hear that Casey is the father of my child.

Dawson - but are you and Casey together?

Emily - yeah we are!

Dawson - I didn't know that, you two keep it so professional here.

Emily - that is something you need to do when you are with someone you work with.

Dawson - I get that!

After I had told her about me and Casey, she seemed okay with it. But I don't know, since I don't really know her. But she will be her for one more shift after this one.

Severide's pov
About 20 minutes after shift started, the guys from truck came out on the apparatus floor. So I figured it out that they was going to do some drills.
Most of the guys where already out, but that's when I saw Casey, Herrmann and Jamie came out also.

Severide - hey Jamie! Didn't know you where here.

Jamie - hey Severide!

Matt - he wanted to be out here with you. If it's okay?

Severide - of course, come here buddy!

I lifted Jamie up and he was sitting on my lap. And when truck had started to do there drills, Jamie was talking and playing with Capp , Tony and Hadley.

Me and the guys had been sitting at the table with Jamie on my lap and playing for a awhile when the bell went off.

The guys on truck got ready since there were still outside, and then the guys from engine came out with the girls behind them. And then it was just us the guys on squad and little Jamie, Scott and Casey asked me to keep and eye on Jamie. Which I gladly do, since Jamie is a really good kid.

General's pov
After lunch truck, squad, Ambo and Chief was called about a car accident. There where three cars with victims in, one car had crashed in a pole and two cars had crashed each other.

Truck started to check the mini van that was crashed in a pole, Casey gave orders to there man.
Squad took care of the other two cars, and Chief was given orders to them all and Ambo.

Chief started to smell gas, and truck had checked the the mini van and there was no victim in the back but there a driver.
Herrmann and Casey smashed the windows in the back, when they had down that Casey jumped in to the mini van to check the driver.

Matt - Scott we need you in the mini van.

Emily - copy that

Shay - we will help squad!

Emily went to help truck with the driver, Casey gave orders to his men. Because the woman in the mini van was trapped and Casey couldn't do it alone.

Herrmann helped Emily to get inside of the mini van because there was no other way for her to help out.
They got the woman out safe, but when they just got her out. Inside of the car in the back, fire just started, Casey protected Emily with him laying almost over her so his back was against the fire.

The guys put the fire down, Casey and Emily got out safe. They couldn't really talk to each other when they got out. Because Emily, Shay and Dawson needed to take a patient to lakeshore.

Matt's pov
We on truck came back to the firehouse along with squad and Chief. I was glad to be back at the firehouse, but I just wanted Ambo to be back also.
I jumped out from the truck and took of my turnout gear, and left apparatus floor and walked in to common room.

When I got in to common room I saw Jamie sitting at the table with his iPad.

Matt - hey buddy!

He looked up at me for a second and then back at his iPad.
The rest of the guys came in to common room, I was up standing and looking at my son when Severide came and was standing next to me.

Severide - what's up?

Matt - just look at him, he didn't even care that I came back.

Severide - he is a kid with an iPad, what do you think?

Matt - you have probably right.

Severide - Jamie, if you put your iPad down....maybe I will let you to get a ride in squad.

He looked up at me and Severide, and he put his iPad down also.

Jamie - okay!

He got down from the chair and he walked up to me and Severide, and we got out to the apparatus floor and the rest of the guys followed us out.

When we came out on the apparatus floor, Ambo came back after they had been at lakeshore.
Emily and Shay jumped out in the front, and Dawson came out in the back.

Emily - what are you all doing out here?

Severide - your son what's to ride along in squad.

Emily - okay!

Matt - and of course he will do that in my truck also.

Emily - of course he will.

Severide helped Jamie up in squad and they both took a seat, Tony jumped in also since he is the driver. And then they drove away just for a couple of minutes.

In the meantime I pulled Emily away just for a minute, because I needed to talk with her about our last call.

Matt - I just wanted to check and see if you are okay!

Emily - I'm okay Matt!

Matt - I was scared that you would have gotten hurt when we where in the car.

Emily - I know, but I'm okay! And that's thanks to my boyfriend!

Matt - your welcome.

I hugged her and gave her a kiss to her lips, we pulled away after a couple of seconds. We got back to the apparatus floor and just waited for squad to come back, so me and Emily was standing next to each other with one of my arms around her shoulder.

After a couple of minutes squad came back, Jamie, Severide and Tony they got out from the squad.

Matt - so Jamie are you ready for truck 81?

Jamie - yes!

I helped Jamie inside of the truck so he was sitting in my lap in the front, Cruz got in since he is the driver for truck 81. We left the firehouse and drove around for a few minutes, and this was something that Jamie have wanted to do since the morning when shift started.

I love to have a son who loves this, and want to be at the firehouse without getting boring or want to be at home. And who knows maybe Jamie will be in the future a firefighter, even if Emily don't want it.
