Breathe.

This is fine.

I'm fine.

This is great. I totally don't have to live my life with this one mistake following me everywhere. Oh boy, what a great story for the grandkids.

Josh left and it was a very awkward goodbye. I felt like banging my head against a wall, which I did not long after Josh left. I didn't know what to do after that. I couldn't call Sarah because I was too embarrassed. I just stood there, staring at the wall.

I couldn't let myself cry. I refused to cry. All I knew is that Josh is happy with his girlfriend and I'm sure I'll be happy in a week.

My phone begins to ring. I answer it.

"Hi mom," I smile.

"(Y/n) would you mind coming over and helping me clean the house?" Mom asks.

"Uh... sure. Why?"

"We're having a family reunion on Sunday at my house and I don't want it to be a mess," She tells me.

"Alright, I'll be over in about an hour," I reply.

"Thank you so much! Love you!"

"Love you too," I smile.

I hang up and run to my bathroom. Although I hadn't been crying I still looked like a mess. I look like I'm heading to a funeral, and I'm the dead one.

I take a shower and get changed into clothes that didn't smell like a mix of smoke and waffles.

--Time Skip--

I knock on my mom's door. She opens right away. "Hello!" She cheers. I try to give a smile, and her being a mother, she knew something wrong. She grabs my arm and pulls me inside. She sits me on the couch. "(Y/n), something isn't right. Are you alright?"

"Y-yea-" I try to say but can't, "No."

"Do you want to tell me?" She asks.

"You know Josh, right?" I ask. She nods. "I asked, well tried to ask, him out and it turns out that he has a girlfriend already... and now I feel terrible! I don't even want to see him ever again!"

Mom laughs. "Oh, that has happened to me before too."

"Oh. Really?" I ask.

"Several times!" She laughs again. "Listen (Y/n), you are probably the greatest person in this whole universe. I'm sure Josh is a good person too but he's clearly too blind to see how great of a person you are."

"Maybe his girlfriend is better," I shrug.

"Better than my daughter?" Mom said. "I don't think so."

I smile.

"This isn't the end of the world, (Y/n)," Mom tells me.

"It feels like it is."

"You are one of many that have had this happen to them. Trust me, you will be alright," she stands up. "Anyway! Ready to clean?"

I nod my head and stand up, too.
