It was a busy day for Gawin. It was the opening of his family's second shop in another city, this one was going to be handled by him and his father while their first one is being handled by his aunt and uncle. He had just finished his morning classes at University just to come back from school to help his father unpack the merchandise, shelving units, fridges, decorations, and machinery.
Right above the shopping unit is where he and his father live, because they aren't doing financially well, but they make do with what they have. Gawin had even scored himself a full-ride scholarship to one of the best universities in the area, as he was extremely talented in his old high school, but after finding himself being drowned in the difficult courses of his university, he felt himself burn out.
His father comforted him by saying that he'll eventually get his grades back up, but he knew deep inside that wasn't possible at all. The work load was too much for him, but he didn't want to disappoint his father as his father really wants Gawin to have a bright future and finished education to get a better career than what his father is doing.
They soon finished unpacking, feeling satisfied with the work they had done that day, and the weekend was arriving soon. It was the perfect time to put everything together, and have the store looking rather nice, but Mr. Caskey couldn't open it just yet. Why? He still didn't have any employees working for him, besides himself and his son, which was definitely not enough.
Gawin went upstairs, carrying two boxes and his backpack, he was a very minimal person due to the fact his family has no money to buy much stuff. He entered his small bedroom, but he found the size quite comfortable. He placed his stuff down, and looked around the room, visualising what he could do to make the place feel like home for him. He knew the perfect idea! Placing a bunch of his basketball posters all over the room.
He put his posters up on the wall and behind the door, he decorated his bed a bit by placing a few small pillows and placing a penguin plush he got from his older sister, Tala. His older sister and mother are currently residing in America right now which is much better than staying here in Bangkok. But neither side had enough money to permanently move Gawin and Mr. Caskey over to the states. He looked at his picture frames, missing his mother and sister, and he placed them on his desk along with his small lamp.
It was going to be a long weekend for him.
And he wasn't wrong. The weekend felt extremely long and tired him out a lot. moving fridges from one place to another, because his father wanted the layout to look nice. He had to cut out cardboard stands, paint the shelves to make them pop out, he had to remake their logo for the store, he had to place all the merchandise in the stock room which was downstairs, and how those stairs made his trip extremely difficult to the store room. But he found it quite fun as he got to spend time with his father.
He got the register working as for some reason the receipt roll out wasn't producing any ink onto the paper coming out. He made sure to check that all the buttons on the register was working. he also needed to make sure the computer in his father's office was still working, and made sure to check the card machine as well, which made him notice that they needed a new one which is going to take some money in order to replace.
But in the end, the store looked quite fantastic on Sunday, but there was still some work to be done. He needed to dust the store room, the whole bathroom needs to be replaced, some of the floor tiles need to be removed and replaced, and so forth.
A week had passed and there were a few corrections still to be made, but the place was looking quite legit. It felt more like a brand store than some shabby place they first moved into. But he had afternoon classes on Friday until quite late into the afternoon, but he still tried his best to make it back quick because his father had told him the news that he employed their first hire. And Gawin was excited to meet the new hire before they had to go home.
He rode his bike back to their family store, used a bike lock to lock it onto the pole right outside, not wanting anyone to steal it, and he happily bolted into the store. He looked right and left but didn't see anyone, until he looked to his left quite clearly. He saw someone, someone new, looking down at something. The person sitting at the register was flipping through an advanced calculus book?
"Um...hello?" Gawin said while making his way closer to the counter, "My dad said that there was someone new working here and I'm guessing that it's you..."
The person closed their book softly, but still keeping his hand in there to not lose his place, and looked up form the book. Messy hair, thin-framed glasses, dimples, smooth skin, killer eyes, muscular build, and tall frame. All those qualities were too familiar for Gawin as this person was not someone he could tolerate. Why? The teasing, the insults, and the stabs that were jabbed by this person was relentless.
He was known for his excellent academics, his fast problem-solving skills, and his quick wit. But, he was also known for his athletic capabilities in boxing and basketball. He didn't really put much effort into sports though, as he only cared about his grades, nothing else. Not even the girls who would intentionally annoy him to garner his attention, but he didn't care. This person was none other than Joss Way-ar Sangngern.
