Description: In this one, you and Newt end up getting separated from everyone instead of Brenda and Thomas. Also it's a lot longer ways away from Marcus's house then in the movie, so you are stuck with each other for a few days. But what happens when your scared to start caring for the blond boy because of something that happened to the last boy you cared about? And how will Newt react when he sees what WICKED did to you before you escaped?

The metal door to the stairs creaks open as you walk down to the garage with Brenda. Jorge had caught a group of boys on camera running into the warehouse during the storm, and he wanted you two to go bring them up.

"No ones come out of the Scorch in so long. How do you think they made it," Brenda asks you curiously, but there's a hint of sadness in her tone. You know she's thinking about all of the friends you two had lost because of the Scorch and the flare.

"I don't know. But I do know that we shouldn't trust them," you tell her. You had lost to many friends because of betrayals and trusting someone too soon, and you weren't going to make the same mistake again.

You two stay quiet the rest of the way down. When you get to the door, you hear the screaming and squealing of the cranks that you have chained up. Sucking in a deep breath, you tug your hood up over your head, making sure it was secure, obscuring your face from anyone's view. Brenda flicks the light switch on as she opens the door out into the garage. A group of boys stands in the middle of the hoard of chained up cranks, trying to stay out of their reach.

"I see you've met our guard dogs," Brenda announces, and walks towards the them, you following behind her. You keep your head down, not wanting to see the gore and decay of the cranks. "You look like shit," she states, and you smack her on the arm.

She glances at you, but your already looking at the boys. "Sorry about her. Just follow us so we can get you away from these things," you say while gesturing around the room of cranks.

They give you a skeptical look before following Brenda out of the room, you coming up to trail them.

A tall blond boy kept glancing back at you as if checking that you weren't sneaking up behind them with a knife. As Brenda is leading them through the compound where you've lived for the past year, she's explaining some things to them, like how everyone got there, and that Jorge wants to meet them.

Halfway up to Jorge's room, Barkley, a creepy old man that you never liked, approached your group. "What now we're taking in outsiders, or are they gonna be our next meal," the older man asks, but it comes out as more of a growl, as he steps right in front of the tall blond.

You use the minute of courage you have, and stomp towards the two and step in between the older man, and the blond. "Back off Barkley," you snap at him.

"Oh come on (Y/n). Am I not allowed to have a little fun? Or are you too much of a bitch to disobey Jorge," Barkley laughs at you, and you consider backing down, but you stand your ground.

"For all we know we should be chaining you up with the rest of them right this minute, so I wouldn't make yourself sound any crazier than you already are." You retort. You and him glare at each other for a minute, his eyes dark, and your fists clenched.

When Barkley knows he can't win this, he jumps at you to try and make you flinch, but you keep a straight face, and still body, blocking him from the blond boy. He growls at you before stomping off to some more older men. You take a deep breath to calm down your nerves, and step away from the boy. He gives you a sympathetic look when you glance up at him, but you quickly turn your gaze back to the ground.

Brenda starts walking again, and you keep your head down as you follow behind everyone else. You don't realize when the boy walks up next to you.

"Hey, thanks for helping me with that guy," he tells you. You look at him out of the corner of your eye, but your head is still aimed towards the ground.

"Ya. Don't expect it to happen again," you tell him before speed walking up to the front of the group next to Brenda. You clench and unclench your fists, a nervous habit you had, and just hope that Jorge will do all the talking when you get up to his room.

When you get to the door to his room, you unclip a little lock, and slide the door to the right. You walk in behind Brenda, and go over to lean against a table in the room while Brenda sits on the couch. The boys, and now you realize there's a girl about your age standing in the middle of them all, come into the room, and stay in a small huddle while Jorge talks into a headset connected to a radio.

"They're here," you tell him in a bored tone, and Jorge turns around. You keep your head down, your hood up, and arms crossed while you lean against the table.

"You ever feel like the whole world is against you," Jorge asks loudly. Everyone stays silent, so he continues. "Three questions," he says while walking over to the table your leaning against, and pouring himself a glass of water. "Where did you come from? Where are you going? How can I profit?"

You were actually curious to what they would say, so you looked up from the ground towards them, still keeping some of your face hidden by your hood.

"We're looking for the Right Arm," a boy with brown hair steps forward.

Jorge laughs exaggeratedly. "Your looking for ghosts you mean," he replies, but you are starting to worry where they came from. The boys stay silent.

"Question number two," Jorge announces. "Where did you come from?"

"That's our business," a tall Asian boy says.

Jorge frowns at him before glancing at Brenda. Suddenly some men jump out from behind objects in the room, and run up to grab the brown haired boy. You jumped up to get in between the boy, and his friends. You took your knife out of its holder on your thigh, and pointed it at the boys when they tried to get past you and the other men.

"Stay back," you snap at them while sweeping the knife from side to side to make sure they all got the point, and they stop trying to maneuver around you.

You hear Brenda scan the brunet, and then he jerks out of the men's grip, and scrambles back to his friends. You put the knife back in it's holster, and back away from the boys, the blond still staring at you.

Brenda looks down at the scanner, and glances at Jorge with a worried expression. "You were right," she tells him while handing the scanner over to Jorge.

"Sorry hermano. Looks like your tagged. You came from WICKED," Jorge says, and you immediately reach a hand up under your hood to run your fingers over your scarred cheek. "Which means you are very valuable," he finishes. You don't want to listen to him talk about WICKED. Before he can say anything else, you walk towards the door in long strides, passing the boys who are now staring at you.

"(Y/n)," Brenda says in a tone that sounds like she's trying to get you to stay, but you ignore her as you storm out of the room. You walk down the different halls, making turns that no one who had just gotten there could remember, and walk into your room.

You sit down on your bed with your legs hanging off the side, but keeping your knees bent, and sitting your heels on the edge of the box spring that's hanging out. You put your elbows on your knees, and put your forehead in your palms, taking deep even breaths.

After a few minutes, the door clicks open. You look up to see Brenda walking over to you, and you sigh.

"Hey I'm sorry. Are you ok," she asks you in a sad tone. Only she knew about the tests WICKED had done on you while you were still there. Not even Jorge knew the real reason why you had two gnarly ugly scars dragging from your temple down to your jaw.

Instead of sending you into the maze, WICKED physically tortured you to see which got the best results. The night they did this is the same night you broke out, and ran into the Scorch. You had been out there for almost a week, and you were living off of whatever scraps you could find in old buildings, and drips of water from old taps. Brenda found you while she was out going to get more cans of food from the nearby factory, and brought you back with her. Now she was like a sister to you, and she was the only one who knew the truth. Others thought some cranks that weren't fully gone yet had gotten you with a knife or something.

Your kinda in a daze as you lazily run your fingers over the ugly marks.

"(Y/n)," she asks, and you snap out of it.

You clear your throat, and stand up. "Uh ya. Ya I'm fine," you try to act like it wasn't bugging you. Brenda came up, and wrapped her arms around your neck and pulled you into a hug. You wrapped your arms around her back, and held her to you. You were the only person she was ever sweet with, and it's because she knows what it's like to lose someone to WICKED, and you do to.

That was the only reason you agreed to let WICKED do the tests, was because they were going to kill your parents and little sister. They said that if you went through with the tests, then your family could stay at the compound, and work in the labs for WICKED. You agreed. It took almost a month for you to figure out that your parents were already dead. They ended up sending your little sister into one of the mazes, and you never saw her again.

You take a deep breath while holding onto Brenda. Once you had really calmed down, you squeeze her for a second before letting her go, and you both step out of the hug. You clear your throat again. "Ya I'm fine," you repeat.

Brenda just gives you a sympathetic look. "So did you guys find anything else out about the newbies," you ask, trying to change the subject.

"No. Jorge tied em up, and now he's figuring out how to sneak out of here with them. He thinks their gonna get us into the Right Arm," she tells you.

"Arg," you shout, and tug on your hair from the top of your head. "Why the hell is he trusting them! We know literally nothing about them! For all we know their working for WICKED," the thought makes you clench your fists again.

"(Y/n) they could be our only way to get into the Right Arm," you spin away from her gripping your hair in frustration. "But I don't trust them either," she continues as she walks back in front of you, and grips your forearms. "This is all Jorge, and you know what I think of his decisions most of the time."

You calm down, and drop your hands back to your sides. "So what's the pla-" your cut off by propellers, and bright lights coming in through the window.

"We have your compound surrounded! Hand over the subjects that you have in no fault of your own found in your possession, and we will leave you and your people unharmed," you hear a voice speaking over a megaphone.

You look at Brenda with wide eyes before you pull your hood up, and both of you run out of your room, and go to find Jorge. You come to a forked off hallway, and you stop and shout, "You get Jorge! I'm gonna bring them to the zip line!"

Brenda nods her head, and you go separate ways. You're sprinting down the halls towards the room where Jorge would have kept the new guys. When you get to the door way, you see Barkley holding a gun at the boys. That's when you see the walkie talkie in his other hand, and you realize he's the one who contacted WICKED.

You grab your gun from your back pocket, and aim it at his back before shouting, "Barkley you son of a bitch." He turns to face you, and is surprised to see you standing there. "You contacted them didn't you," you snap at him with a growl in your tone.

"What you actually want to follow Jorge, and just let them go? Damn your just as stupid as that family of-" he's cut off by the sound of a gun shot. You had pulled the trigger of your gun, and shot him right in the chest. Your panting from adrenaline, and from sprinting over here.

You look up at the other teens, and see their shocked faces. "Come on. Were getting you guys outta here," you tell them, and then run to the door. You look back to see that they're not following. "Come on," you urge them, and then they chase after you.

You start running over to the backside of the compound towards the 'emergency exit' Jorge had found when you hear a song start playing over the speakers. You know what that song meant. Your running up the stairs, and once you get onto the same floor as Brenda and Jorge, you run over to a table, and grab your backpack off of it. Jorge made sure both you and Brenda had a pack ready incase you ever needed to move out quickly.

You follow the group over to the windows, and Jorge opens the large piece of glass to reveal a cord going from the building you were in, to another one across a large pit of concrete and old pipes right after a hundred foot drop.

"Oh you gotta be kidding me," you hear one of the boys mumble.

"Come on we don't got all day," Jorge says before pulling down on a piece of rope, and grabbing onto it. "(Y/n) make sure they all get across," Jorge tells you before zipping down the cord to the other building.

"Come on let's go," you shout at the boys, and you and Brenda start pulling ropes down from the cord and handing them to each boy. There were three left to slide down when you remembered you needed to get something. There was you, Brenda, and the blond boy left.

"Go, go I'm right behind you," you shout at Brenda and the boy while you run back around the railing, and to the drawers in the counters. You open the first drawer frantically, and don't find it, so you quickly move on to the second one. You feel someone grab your backpack, and is tugging you away when you grab the chain in your hand. You grip it tight, and turn around to see the blond boy.

"Come on," you shout, as you hear boots stomping up the stairs. You both run back across the platform, and try to get to the doors when you hear gunshots. You shove him to the ground, and grab your handgun again, and aim it at the approaching soldiers. You shoot at them, and they back down long enough for you two to run over to a different staircase, and run down the stairs.

There were to many of them around the windows for you to be able to get across on the zip line, so you would have to take another way. You see more soldiers approaching, so you leap over the railing, and walk across the pipes holding the building up, and shout for the boy to follow you.

It was the randomest thought, but you just now realized you didn't know his name. Ugh focus, you snap at yourself when you hear the song coming to an end.

"(Y/n) Wait," the boy shouts as your still balancing on the pipes.

"Hurry the songs almost over," you urge him, as you get to the other platform. You hop over the railing, and that's when the last note of the song plays. Suddenly explosions are going off all around you. Just as the boys about to jump over the railing, the pipe he's standing on breaks, and he has to jump for it. His fingers slip while trying to grab the rusty railing, but you grab his hand with both of yours before he drops along with the pipe.

You groan as you try to pull him up and over the railing from him just dangling off the side. Once you lift him over the edge, you grip his arm, and pull him along with you as the building starts collapsing behind you. You start running, but the boy is lagging behind, so he have to pull his arm to help him.

"Jump," you shout as an explosion goes off right over your head, and huge chunks of debris starts falling. You both jump into some ropes that were dangling in front of you, and slide down into a deep hole.

Once you reach the bottom, you land on your back, but then you see a chunk of cement falling down towards you both. You scramble backwards, and pull the boy with you before your crushed. The cement block lands where you were seconds ago, and you both start coughing from all of the dust.

"You ok," you ask in a raspy voice.

"Ya I'm fine," the boy tells you, and that's when you realize that he's British. "You?"

"Fine," you tell him as the dust settles. You stand up, and cough again from the dust.

"What about my friends. What's gonna happen to them," the boy asks worried. It made you want to smile a little. You and him were trapped under a collapsed building, and he was worrying about his friends.

"They'll be fine. Jorge's taking them to Marcus, so that's where we're going. We'll just have to use the tunnels," you tell him while grabbing a flashlight from your backpack, and turning it on. You aim it around the room, and the boy does the same, until your light lands on a grate in the ground. You walk over to it, and kneel down.

"Well what about us," he asks.

"Don't worry. I'll get us out of here," you say, and start trying to pull the grate up, but there's stuff sitting on it, so you can't open it.

"Where even are we," he asks, and you groan in your head.

"Wow you ask a lot of questions," you say while turning your head to look at him. He gives you an annoyed look, and you actually crack a small smile.

"Well can I at least know your name," he asks stubbornly. You look away from him, and back down at the grate.

"(Y/n)," you tell him.

"Newt," he tells you, and you glance back up at him. He's giving you a soft smile, but you turn your head away. You can't get attached, you tell yourself. He's just another boy, and nothing else.

If only you knew how wrong you were.
