I woke up to the beeping of the machine next to me. I grumbled, turning my head to see Pietro sleeping with Wanda leaning her head on his shoulder. They both looked so peaceful. I wished that they could feel that peaceful all the time.

I let out a huff and Wanda jerked awake at the sound. Her eyes quickly found mine and she dropped off the chair onto her knees in front of my hospital bed. The sudden movement cause Pietro to wake up with a snort. Wanda grabbed my hand and started sobbing.

"We thought we lost you," she cried as Pietro kneeled down beside her.

"Hey, hey," I said sitting up, feeling only a dull ache in my abdomen.

"I was supposed to protect you," Pietro whispered.

"No, no, no..."

I slipped off the bed and I pulled them both into a hug.

"I'm fine. I'm okay. You don't need to take the blame," I reassured them.

"If Loki wasn't here-" Wanda began, but she was cut of with a glare from Pietro.

"What? What about Loki?" I asked.

"He healed you," Wanda said. "If he didn't you – you would have..."

Wanda started tearing up again.

"Shh, it's okay," I said hugging her tighter. "He was here. And he healed me. That's all that matters."

Eventually Wanda calmed down enough to ask me how I was.

"I feel... fine. Honestly, there's only a little ache," I replied.

We stood up and slowly made our way to the elevator. Pietro whined about how slow Wanda and I were being so we both went slower. When we reached the common room, everyone was happy to see me alive and walking. Thor came up to me and gave me a bone crushing hug. Once he put me down, my eyes scanned the room for a specific dark-haired man. I saw Loki sitting on the couch, reading a book.

I walked over to him and cleared my throat. He looked up at me with an eyebrow raised.

"Thank you," I said, with my hands behind my back.

He simply nodded while I rocked back and forth on my feet. I nodded and smiled, before walking back to the rest of my team.

"What's the point in being able to heal other people but not yourself?" Tony asked me once I was back with the group.

I rolled my eyes.

"Healing and regeneration aren't the same thing. You're a genius, I thought you'd know that by now," I said coolly, smirking at Tony.

Tony rolled his eyes and started talking to Steve about the next mission. I heard the words HYDRA and hostages. Then I heard my name.

"What's this mission?" I asked, curious.

"You're not going," Steve and Pietro said at the exact same time.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. I lifted my arms and turned around in a circle.

"I'm perfectly fine! See!"

"But you weren't," Natasha cut in. "I don't think you should go on this mission."

My face fell. If Nat didn't want me on the mission, then I wasn't going on it. I slowly nodded.

"Okay," I said quietly. "I'm going out to get some food at that diner we like," I said, walking to my room to get a coat.

"Actually, you're supposed to be resting," said Bruce, looking at a tablet. "And you can't eat too much because we need to make sure that the healing has been done correctly."

I heard a scoff from the couch and fought back a laugh.

"You heard Bruce. Off to bed," Pietro said.

"Pridurok," I muttered and walked off.

"Don't call me a moron!" Pietro called after me.

"She calls you Piggy Pietro, but she can't call you a moron?" I heard Bucky say while laughing.

I got into the elevator and pressed the button to my floor. I heard a growled 'shut up' and I laughed while shaking my head. I stood in the elevator and pressed two fingers to my abdomen. There was an ache like a bruise, and I hissed. As I walked to my room, I thought about what had happened. Loki had healed me? But why? He had been quiet and reserved and the only time he spoke to me was when we were introduced. Although, I was the only one who didn't actively hate him, except Thor. As soon as I go to my room, I collapsed onto my bed and fell asleep instantly.

I woke up to pain in my stomach. I growled at the hunger and stretched. I put a hoodie and sweaters on and snuck towards the elevator so I could get to the kitchen. I completed my mission and looked in the fridge for something to eat. I saw a bowl of stew in there with a note on top. The note was from Nat, saying that this was for me and that she would shoot anyone else who tried to eat it. I heat it up and took it with me to the library. I put my stew down on one of the many couches and looked around for a good book. I decided to read f/n again. I sat down on the couch and ate my stew quickly while reading. I finished my stew and placed the bowl on the coffee table in front of me.

A few minutes later I heard the library door open. I looked up and saw Loki freeze in the doorway.

I was shocked, to say the least. He barely left his room, and he only left to sit in the common room and usually read. That being said, he obviously had to get his books from somewhere, and he wasn't allowed to leave the tower.

"I apologise, I did not know I wasn't allowed in here," he said, his voice silky soft.

"It's fine," I replied. "I'm not supposed to be in here either, so I won't tell if you don't."

He smiled a little bit at that, but still stood in the doorway.

"Are you looking for a book?" I asked politely.

He hesitated for a moment before nodding his head. I asked him what kind of genre he enjoyed, and he said he liked fantasy.

"Have you read Harry Potter yet?" I asked, and I gasped when he shook his head no.

"You haven't read Harry Potter?" I whisper-screeched. "I'll be right back."

I rushed off into the massive library to find the first book. I ran back and handed the novel to him.

"This is one of the best things I have ever read in my life. There are seven books in total and there are eight movies," I explained.

Loki slowly nodded and I sat back down on my couch and opened my book.

"There are loads of couches in here and a few secret alcoves if you can find them," I said, and then started reading my book.

I honestly expected Loki to go find a couch far, far away from me, but instead, he sat on the couch opposite me, opened his book and began to read.

"Why aren't you allowed in here?" he asked after a while.

"I'm still 'on the mend,'" I said, rolling my eyes and using my fingers to make quotation marks in the air. "According to Tony, this is my library, but I'm not supposed to leave my room."

Loki simply nodded and went back to his book. We spent the rest of the night in the library in comfortable silence.
