We were all gathered in the hall waiting for lady Cecilia(the head of all the maids)

You could see the maid's gather in groups, The Court ladies, Chamber maids, Lady's maids, kitchen maids and finally water maids.

Lady Cecilia came in with her assistant trailing behind Lady Margaret:a kind woman.

"This must be really important if Lady Cecilia came to see us her self" Rose whispers

I nodded my head in approval as it has always been Lady Margret who usually address to us.

The charter seized immediately once they were in sight.

"As you all have known, The Prince will be visiting crystal kingdom and it has been requested for a maid to go with him. Lady Cecilia announced immediately she took her position as we all listened like hawks as our eyes feasted on the paper she picked from the golden tray Lady Margret was holding.

I turned to see my friend Rose who had closed her eyes and clapped her hands together in a gesture of prayer, I nudged her with my elbow.

"Stop that Iris,I am praying" she "whisper yelled". As she muttered words I couldn't hear properly.

She has opened the paper I said to her and she opened her eyes immediately and fasten her eyes on lady Cecilia.

Iris Anna, come ! Her voice echoed in the hall,

Wait, what? My eyes widen as I stood rooted in spot.

"She called your name!" Rose tried to push me out. But my legs were tied.

This can't be. I am just a water maid, how did I get picked? I muttered

Iris Anna, I won't don't have all day girl. Lady Cecilia harsh voice snapped me out my dazey state.

I walk out to meet her as the different thought run through my mind.

Come by my office to get the list of your duties Lady Margaret said to me, immediately I got to where she stands I nodded my head in reply too dazed to speak.

The rest of you, get back to work. She said dismissing all of us.

Everyone scattered, trying to get back to work then, Rose stepped beside me:
"Oh I knew you would bring me good fortune".

How I asked still in daze.

"What do you mean 'how?' She said as she cast me with an incredilous look. Excitement boils in her blue eyes

How did the queen know me? We have lots of maids but she chose me a, water maid? As I tried to explain my littered thought to my friend.

"I don't know she said scruching her nose but her eyes grew wide as I wanted to hear what she figured out but all I know is we've got an angry Everlyn coming our way.

That effectively snapped me out of my daze form and stop the thoughts plaguing questions.

I look around to see an almost empty hall with a few chamber maids lurking around and of course Sara. I swallowed visibly as Everlyn stood before me

"I want you to go and tell Lady Cecilia that you can't go" she said coldly.

'Why would she do that' Rose said, immediately before I could answer. I tug at her hand to but she gives my hand a little squeeze as she pat it with hers.

"Because I demand it" she replied. With her voice dripping venom

I can't ! I voiced after a little eye battle.

"Pardon!"Her gaze immediately whipped towards me and I shivered in fear as her eyes threw all she could
fathom at me.

I said I . . .

"I heard you idiot!" she interrupted. You will pay for this , believe me. She stormed off with her "company" .

I could swear she was about to hit you, Rose said. As we both released the breath we didn't know we're holding.

I laughed, thank you I said as we walked out.

"You think I will leave you alone to deal with her She said as we walk of the hall.

I was so scared I replied. As I pat my racing heart

"I hope you get close to the prince and get favored to be his first concubine" She said as we took turns to lady Margaret office.

Ewww! I said shaking my headin disgust.

"Hey! she said as she pulling me to a stop. I am not done talking.she gave me the look you give to your child when they get scolded.

"Once you become a concubine, then I will get to be your ladies maid. She continued

Sounds good but why don't you become his concubine? I asked.

"Oh no I wouldn't want his future wife to kill me besides I have someone I fancy already, but you don't"

Really? Who is it? Do I know him? Curiosity pulsed through me at this words my friend says.

"Stop asking questions, lady Margaret is waiting for you. She said instead ignoring my questions

I could barely catch sleep as I kept tossing around on the bed. The thought of the prince made me feel unease. Was he as handsome as Sara described? Will he like me? Oh pift I sigh as I sat up and walked to the bathroom to take my bath.

As water maid we don't get lucky enough to meet the royal family, not to mention being of assistance to them. Perhaps that is why i am not at peace.

The sun rose in it's glory as Rose and I passed through the kitchen to get food for the journey.
I will miss you she said as we walked to the stable to load the food.
Before I could reply, a harsh voice spoke:"I see you're Iris."

'And You are?' Rose asked

"George the prince's manservant" he said throwing an arrogant look at Rose

I studied George's appearance, you wouldn't be able to tell he is the prince's manservant. He is of average height and his uneven mid night hair made it look worse.

"I would have preferred Everlyn" he said to me as he gave my hair a stern gaze.
Although my hair isn't black unlike others but red,and I have always been mocked because of it. I unconsciously tugged the plaited end in.

"Come now a green eyes?" As he leaned in to look at me properly it really a green eyes, he taunted and the stable boys laugh.

I looked around as the familiar pain sprayed my heart.

"Enough! Rose said loudly. They seized laughing, are you okay?"She asked me. Concern dripping from her voice.

Yes, thank you. I pulled her into I hugged her and watched her leave.

"You will walk to Crystal kingdom" said George. Immediately Rose left

I muttered "okay" . As I watched them saddle the horses and carriage that house the food and the prince's clothes.

"Sire, we are ready". George said in a quiet demeanor. I turned to see that prince Harry, dressing in his princely clothe.

Sara words did the prince no justice. He was beautiful. His hair was neatly comb back giving him a regal look.
He stopped right in front of me as he offered a friendly smile.

"You must be Iris" he said as his eyes racked my body probably sizing me up.

Yes my Lord I replied dipping into a courtesy

"We should arrive crystal kingdom in three days". He said to no one in particular

A shiny brown horse was led to him probably his horse as the horse neighed at him and he pated him fondly.
"Where is her horse George?" He asked facing him.

'She said she would walk as she don't know how to ride'

My jaw drop open at his blatent lie, I do agree I can't ride but I never said I will walk. I thought as tried to conceal my contempt for him.

"You can't walk it,it is a three days ride." The Prince explained to me. Giving me a smile that could have swoon may young maidens

I--I.....I clear my throat to stop myself from Stammering before him. What was I going to say, the Prince must have seen that I wasn't going to say anything because he collected my duffel and handed it over to George who in turn gave it to the guard who would be leading the carriage.

The prince mounted his horse as I sigh preparing myself for a long walk.
