Major TW ahead

Nat POV

"You're the missing kid. You were just three when you were taken. We tried to find you. What happened?" I rambled, needing the answers more than I needed air to breathe.

They looked down letting out a shaky breath as they thought for a moment. They eyes met mine as they started to tell me their story.

"I was in a shopping centre. It was so busy. I let go of my Mum's hand for a second. But someone grabbed me from behind. Put a cloth covered in chloroform to my face to knock me out." Tears streamed down their face as they relived their horrors. "I woke up in a basement, tied to a bed." They shuddered. I took their hand gently caressing their fingers giving them the much needed confidence to continue. "She used to umm... torture me and these men used to... touch me and... rape me." I squeezed their fingers.

How could I let this happen to them?

"They used to sedate me a lot with gas which is why I hate those masks and I get really scared of other men," they stutter covering their face with their fingers.

"When did you escape?" I asked.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Wanda walking over to us. She had heard everything over comms. Her warm fingers caressed my back leading up to my shoulder as she walked past me.

"I didn't. She took me to the woods and attacked me one final time. When she went to leave she turned and said thank you and see you soon," they trembled as their eyes flooded continuously.

Wanda sat down on the bench leaving Y/N in the middle of us. "Do you know who your family is?" Wanda piped up shooting me a look.

The teen shook their head as they wiped their tears away quickly.

"Not now Wands," I mouth at Wanda. "Come on. Let's go," I say louder.

I wrap my arm around Y/N's waist pulling her up. All their body weight leant into me too tired to walk. I lead them to the car with Wanda following us.

Y/N POV

I collapse into the car seat leaning my forehead against the cool glass of the window. My eyes were red, swollen and sore from all the crying. I pulled my legs up sprawling them across the back row.

I focus on the soft rumble of the car as we drive away back to the compound. I look over at Nat and Wanda.

Wanda had one hand on the steering wheel and the other rubbed up Nat's thigh.

"Are you dating?" I teasingly ask. I hear Wanda giggle as Nat turns to me.

"Maybe," she answered grinning at me.

"Nat are you embarrassed of your girlfriend," Wanda teased confirming the theory.

I laughed a little focusing my attention back on the window watching buildings and cars fly past us.

After a while, we were back in the compound. They lead me into the living room. We all collapse on the sofa. Nat searched for a movie while I tried to keep my eyes open, the consequences of my running finally coming to make me pay.

Wanda ran out the room and quickly returned holding a large bowl of popcorn and some drinks. She passed me the glass of water and I eagerly take a sip. The roughness of my tongue dried quickly as I drank more of the water. I had small handful of the popcorn. Nat pressed play on the film helping herself to some of the popcorn. Wanda sat down on the other side of me leaving me in the middle again.

Nat wrapped her arms around me rubbing my arm gently with her fingers giving me some much needed comfort.

As the film went on, I could feel my body becoming more and more tired. My eyes began to droop and my limbs dropped. I rested my head against Nat's broad shoulder nestling myself closer to her. I curled my legs up onto the sofa being careful to not kick Wanda. Wanda's arms pulled my legs onto her lap.

I relaxed and before too long everything went black as I fell asleep.

Wanda POV

The credits began to roll as the film ended. I looked across the sofa.

Nat was kissing Y/N on their forehead and rubbing her fingers across their cheek. "I'm so sorry baby. I'm sorry I couldn't save you." Nat mumbled. I turned the tv off and gently moved Y/N's legs off of my lap.

I walked over to Nat and helped her lower Y/N's head onto the sofa. I pulled Nat up holding her close to my body. I helped Nat drape a blanket over the teen before heading to the kitchen with Nat, still in sight of Y/N.

I knew Nat was really suffering. This had completely destroyed her.

Silently, Nat helped me to make dinner for everyone. Curry night! There was a lot to do.

One by one, the Avengers came down, lured by the scent of spicy chicken curry and rice. They all quizzed us about the child whom was still sleeping on the sofa. Me and Nat explained everything about the child, leaving out the details of their last name and definite relation to the Avengers.

We served the food and moved to the dining room leaving Y/N out of our supervision.

Everyone lavished in our food diminishing it quickly. They all thanked us for the food as they left getting back to whatever they were doing.

As I started the washing up, Bucky came back over to us.

"Y/N's gone," he quickly told us.

Nat gasped and dropped the plate she was holding. It missed her foot by inches and smashed onto the floor.

"Check the compound! They can't have gone far," Nat announced already running off to check her room.

Pietro was by my side. He was the only one I had told the truth about who the teenager was. "It's ok. We will find them," he said comfortingly, his gruff voice bringing me comfort. He pulled me into a hug. "But if anything happens," I reply.

"Nothing will. I'm going to go check the streets ok little sis?" I nodded not trusting my voice. He smiled and disappeared out of the front door.

Y/N POV

I dangled my feet off the roof's edge gazing at the view of the beautiful sunset. I rose to my wobbly feet standing on the roof's edge. I looked down at the pavement. It was so far down I couldn't see it. Cars scuttled across the road; from up here they were as small as ants.

If I jumped now, no one would be able to save me.

I took one last look at the orange sky as the sun began to set.

I took one final breath letting it run in and out of my body calmly.

I took one final step allowing myself to step off the roof's edge.

Nat POV

We desperately searched the compound checking every nook and cranny. The worst situations ran through my head repeating like a broken cd on repeat. No stopping it or turning it off.

Suddenly, the sound of Jarvis speaking made everyone stop.

Thankfully, Tony had heard every word. "Roof now. They are going to jump," he bellowed as we all ran up the stairs as fast as our legs would carry us.

I pushed past everyone desperate to get to the roof. I couldn't let them go, let them slip through my little fingers. Not again.

I ran to the edge shouting and hollering as I saw Y/N about to step off the edge.

"Don't come any closer," the teen said coldly as they turned to face us.

Tears filled their empty, hopeless eyes.

"Let me go," They said emptily.

"Please get down," I begged, tears choking up my voice as I pleaded with them.

"I'm sorry," they whispered so only I could hear them.

Panic flooded my body as did nausea. Fear filled me leaving no room for anything else.

"Thank you everyone. Your help meant a lot. And I'm sorry," They said allowing their final words to file out of their body.

They leant backwards falling off the roof's edge.
