Author's Note: Hello hello. I'm back writing again. Tbh when I first started this story,  I only published it so my friend could read it; but seeing that almost 400 people have looked at this.. I feel threatened to take it seriously now LOL. Anyways, enjoy :3

It was a surprisingly calm day. Rouge and Amy had put together an all-day outing for the group. You didn't mind it, it was a nice change from all the previous chaos with Egg-man. You often stayed up late thinking about where he was, and what he wanted with you and your family. But those thought never lingered long as you also spent a-lot of time ruminating on a certain black and red hedgehog. Ever since that time he spoke to you so deeply, you couldn't get him out of your head. Nobody had ever spoken to you like that before, and if they did, it didn't affect the way it did then. 

"Y/N, are you ready yet?" You heard a voice outside your door as you were packing essentials for the day. "Yeah, just give me a minute, Tails." You grabbed your sun glasses and your tote bag filled with various items before heading out to meet the others. Once your made your way downstairs, you immediately noticed someone from the group was missing. Shadow. It didn't bother you too much. Despite how he acts around you in particular, he was still the isolated, nonchalant hedgehog to everyone else. 

"Is everyone ready to go?" Amy asked the group. "Heck yeah! But you still haven't said where we're going.." Sonic said, his voice having a slight nervousness to it. Everybody but Sonic knew where you were going, but nobody was allowed to tell him. You guys were going to a water park, and considering Sonic hated water; you had to stay quiet. "Someone go get Shadow, everyone else put your things in the trunk of the car. We have a long drive ahead of us." Amy added before walking out the door. Nobody had gone upstairs to get Shadow yet. You'd be lying if you said you didn't wanna do it. Before you could speak up, you heard someone else. "I guess I'll go get him." Rouge stated before flying away. Dang it, you weren't fast enough. 

You and the others all loaded your bags in the trunk. Unlike Amy, none of you went overboard with packing. You would probably only be gone for a few hours anyways, it's not like it was some huge vacation. Eventually, everyone finally started to get seated in the SUV. Rouge was the driver, Sonic sat in the passenger seat because he tends to bother people during the car rides, Knuckles and Amy sat in the middle row, Tails in-between them since he was the smallest, which left you and Shadow to sit in the far back. Sitting in the far back wasn't desirable, as there wasn't much room to breathe back there; but maybe it won't be so bad. 

It wasn't even 20 minutes into the drive and it was already torturous. Sonic, being him, wouldn't stop moving around and begging to know our destination. Since you and Shadow were in the far back, you didn't get as much a/c air as the others; so you were sweating hot while Sonic constantly tried to start small talk with you. Knuckles was falling asleep, that guy could slept through war if he really wanted. Shadow was staring out the window, clearly not wanting to talk to anybody. Tails and Amy were taking turns playing some type of game on the Nintendo switch, you wanted to play too but heat exhaustion was getting the best of you. 

After 2 pit stops and 5 arguments later, you finally reached the water park. But before you could even take it all in, Sonic started complaining. "What?? Why are we here?? I hate water, you guys know this!-" Amy quickly cut him off, knowing he'd complain. "Enough Sonic. Besides, it's not just a water park. There's a chili dog restaurant here too." "Great, if you need me, i'll be there." Sonic said before getting out of the car and speeding into the restaurant, not even wanting to glance at the water park. 

You and the others got out of the car, looking at the view of the water park. You all unloaded your bags from the trunk before heading to Admission. As Amy checked you all in, You couldn't stop glancing at Shadow. He hadn't talked to you all day. Did he hate you just like your parents? Was he avoiding you? But why? You hadn't done anything wrong. You needed to say something to him. 

After admission, you and the group walked into the water park. It was even nicer when you're actually inside. As walked to find empty chairs, you decided to speak to Shadow. "So, do you like places like this?" He looked over at you, he looked annoyed but you could tell he was waiting for someone to talk to him. "It's fine, I guess. It's a nice change from being in the heat all the time." You semi-fake laughed. "Understandable, black does absorb heat faster than any other color." He looked away, but you could see a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. 

Once you guys found a seating area with some shade, It was time to get in the water. You set down your tote bag and laid your towel along your seat, before slipping off your outfit that had your swimsuit underneath. You could've sworn you saw Shadow peeking, not that you didn't like it. After getting your dress off, you were finally able to get in the pool. You didn't want to go on the slides first considering the water may be cold and you want your body to get used to the water's temperature first. 

"Do a canon ball, Y/N!" Knuckles shouted as you got closer to the water. You looked back and noticed the others, particularly Shadow, watching you eagerly; it increased your confidence greatly. Maybe even too great. You took a few steps back before running before running up and jumping into the pool making sure to tuck your knees. While you plummeted into the water, all you could think about was how impressed Shadow might be. 

Your lovestruck began to fade quickly once you realized that you weren't coming back up to the surface. You swiftly moved your arms and legs, but you weren't moving. You were drowning. You began to panic as you felt the overwhelming need to take a breath, you could feel your blood circulation slow. You felt humiliated as you were pulled out of the water. You nearly drowned in front of not only your friends, but Shadow as well. He's totally gonna think you're incompetent now.  

"Y/N are you okay?! What were you thinking??" Amy said as she rushed to your side. You took heavy, shaky breaths before speaking. "I.. I didn't know the water was so deep." You said weakly. "Well are you alright, can you breathe?" Tails joined. You nodded before taking a deep breath. "You startled us half to death." Rouge added. You chuckled and sat up before noticing who it was that pulled you out of the water, it was Shadow; and boy did he look handsome. He looked so concerned, and he was so cold and wet. He looked like a puppy after its first bath. 

You admired him for a few seconds before realizing you probably looked weird. "T-thanks for saving me, I appreciate it. Seriously." You said, a small smile on your face. He smirked slightly before speaking up, "It isn't my first time saving you from danger. Just.. be careful." His words made you smile. "Maybe you could teach me how to swim better?" You said before quickly looking away, you hadn't realized you spoke out loud. Shadow thought for a moment before nodding. "If it saves you from drowning again, sure." His response made your face light up. 

The water was about 5ft high, which was around chest length compared to you. You held onto Shadow's hands as you kicked your feet around in the water. You looked like a child the way you struggled to swim, it embarrassed you. Shadow held your hands tightly, gliding you through the water; it was so romantic. Though you were unsure how he felt about it, you could see him smiling every now and then. 

It was such a peaceful time, besides Sonic constantly begging to go somewhere else, you never knew how much you had needed this day out. Eventually, you all regrouped at the chili dog stand to have some lunch and drinks after being in the pool for the longest. Shadow looked happy for once, not even just with you, but in general. Everything felt so perfect, so right. But as if you had the worst luck in the world, a very unexpected guest showed up to join the fun (and cock-block your 'date'). You all dropped your chili dogs, looking back and standing your guards. 

"You've got to be kidding me."
