The kids and the beaver passed through the forest just as the sun started to set. They arrived at Mr. Beaver's house. Mr. Beaver said, causing Mara to smile slightly, "Blimey. Looks like the old girl has got the kettle on. Nice cup o' Rosy Lee." A female voice said, grabbing the kids' attention, "Beaver, is that you? I've been worried sick! If I find out you've been out with Badger again, I......" A beaver had stepped out of the house and stopped when her eyes landed on the children. She said, fussing over her fur, "Oh, those aren't badgers. You couldn't give me a ten minute warning?" Mr. Beaver replied, making the children chuckle, "I would have given you a week if I thought it would have helped." Mrs. Beaver began to lead the children inside and said, "Oh, come inside and we'll see if we can get you some food." The children walked inside, taking off their coats. Peter took off his coat then helped Mara with hers, smiling. He said, as he sat at the table between Susan and Mara, "Is there anything we can do to help Tumnus?" Mr Beaver replied, sighing, "They'll have taken him into the Witch's house. You know what they say. There's a few that go through them gates that come back again." Mara said, chuckling nervously, "Actually, no, we don't." Mrs. Beaver said, placing a plate down in front of Lucy, "Fish 'n' chips. But there is hope, dear. Lots of hope."

Mara's face crunched up at the sight and smell of fish. As much as she tried to be polite and cover up her disgust, she just couldn't hold it in. Susan noticed at her friend's scrunched up face and snickered. Mr. Beaver said, nodding excitedly, "Oh, yeah, there's a right bit more than hope! *His voice lowered to a whisper* Aslan and Aria are on the move." Mara said, confused, "Who are Aslan and Aria?" Mr. Beaver said, laughing, "'Who are Aslan and Aria?' You cheeky little blighter!" Mrs. Beaver noticed that the girl was being serious and smacked her husband to get his attention. Mr. Beaver said, looking at his wife, "What?" Mrs. Beaver nodded at the girl then at the other children. Mr. Beaver said, "You don't know, do you?" Peter replied, glancing at his siblings and friend, "Well, we haven't exactly been here that very long." Mr. Beaver said, "Well, they're only the King and Queen of the whole wood. And Amara's mother and father." Mara replied, creeped out, "How do you know my name?" Mr. Beaver continued, "The top two geezers. The real King and Queen of Narnia, with Amara as the Princess of Narnia, the heir to the throne." Lucy said, turning to Mara, "You're a princess and you never told us?" Mara replied, "Well, to be fair, I don't exactly know my parents or their origins, Lucy." Mrs. Beaver said, "They've been away for a long while." Mr. Beaver said, "But they have just got back and they're waiting for you at the Stone Table!" Lucy replied, "He's waiting for us?" Mr. Beaver said, exasperated, You're blooming joking?! *He turned to his wife* They don't even know about the prophecy!" Mrs. Beaver replied, "Well, then......" Mr. Beaver said, "Look. Aslan and Aria's return......Tumnus' arrest......the Secret Police......is all happening because of you!" Mara replied, offended as she looked at her four friends, "You're blaming us?!" Mrs. Beaver replied, "No! Not blaming. Thanking you." Mr. Beaver said, "There's a prophecy. When Adam's flesh and Adam's bone and the Great Lion and Lioness' daughter sits at Cair Paravel in throne, evil time will be over and done." Susan replied, "That doesn't exactly rhyme."

Mara nodded, she had to agree with Susan on that one. It just didn't make sense to her. Mr. Beaver said, sighing, "Yeah, I know it don't. You're kinda missing the point!" Mrs. Beaver said, motioning to each of the siblings then to Mara, "It has been long foretold that the two sons of Adam and the two daughters of Eve will bring back the Princess of Narnia." Lucy grinned at Mara who just stared at the younger girl. Mrs. Beaver said, "Yes! And together, you will defeat the White Witch and bring peace back to Narnia!" Peter replied, glancing at Mara, "And you think that we're the ones?" Mr. Beaver nodded and said, "Well, you better be, cos Aslan and Aria's already fitted out your army." Lucy said, surprised, "Our army?" Mr. Beaver smiled and nodded. Susan whispered to Peter, leaning over to him, "Mum sent us away so we wouldn't get caught up in a war." Peter had to agree with his sister and said, looking at the beavers, "I think you have made a mistake. We're not heroes." Susan said, nodding, "We're from Finchley!" The two beavers looked at each other, confused and exasperated. Susan said, standing up, "Thank you for your hospitality but we really have to go." Mr. Beaver replied, as Mara began to follow Susan, "You can't just leave!"

Peter did the same as the other girls, sighing. Lucy said, looking at her older siblings and friend, "He's right, we have to help Mr. Tumnus." Mara replied, knelling down to the young girl's height, "Oh, Lu. I'm sorry but I'm afraid it's out of our hands." She turned to the beavers and said to them, "I'm sorry but it's time for the five of us to be getting home." Peter nodded in agreement and said, turning to look at his younger brother, "Ed? *Everyone turned to look at him but he was nowhere to be seen* I'm gonna kill him!" Mara replied, placing her hand on Peter's arm to calm him down, "You will do no such thing. He's still your brother. Remember what I said earlier. You need to calm yourself." Mr. Beaver said, "You might not have too. Has Edmund ever been to Narnia before?" When they realized that he had, the children rushed to get their coats and ran out of the house, with Mr. Beaver behind them.

Seeing that it was now dark outside, it made it harder for the children to run in the snow and to see. They stopped at the edge of the hill, a white icy house came into their view. They could see a figure walking through the opened doors, making them panic. Lucy shouted, causing Mara to cover her mouth with her hand, "Edmund!" Mr. Beaver whispered, warning, "They'll hear you!" Peter went to go after his brother but Mr. Beaver jumped on him. Peter said, "Get off of me!!" Mr. Beaver replied, "You're playing into her hands!" Susan said, "We can't just let him go!" Lucy said, agreeing with her older siblings, "He's our brother!" Mr. Beaver replied, "He's the bait. The Witch wants all five of ya!" Mara had to agree with the beaver, while she had no idea what was going on, she knew that they had to figure out who to trust and who not to trust. Peter said, going to Mara's side, "Why?" Mr. Beaver replied, "To stop the prophecy from coming true! To kill ya!" Lucy clutched Mara's arm in fear. Susan said to Peter, outraged, "This is your fault!" Peter replied, shocked, "My fault?!" Susan said, "None of this would've happened if you had just listened to me in the first place!" Peter replied, rolling his eyes, "Oh, so you knew this would happen?" Susan said, "I didn't know what would happen, which is why we should've left while we still could!" Mara said, having enough, "Enough! Enough, both of you! *Peter and Susan turned to their friend in shock* You are fighting like children over candy. This isn't going to help arguing. Now, either you're going to keep arguing and we won't get Edmund back or you shut your mouths and work together." Mr. Beaver said, nodding, "She's right. Only Aslan and Aria can help your brother now." Peter replied, "Then, take us to them."

A howl from the white palace had caught their attention, making the children to gasp and turned to Mr. Beaver. Mr. Beaver said, "We need to go. Now!" Susan grabbed Mara and Lucy's hands as they ran back to the Beaver's house. Mr. Beaver said, as they entered the house, "Hurry, mother, they're after us." Mrs. Beaver said, rushing to gather stuff from the kitchen, "Oh, right then." Peter said, his eyebrow raised, "What is she doing?" Mrs. Beaver replied, "You'll be thanking me later, dearie. It's a long journey and Beaver gets cranky when he's hungry." Beaver said, causing Lucy and Mara to laugh, "I'm cranky now!" Susan said, holding a jar of jam, "Do you'll think we'll need jam?" Mara replied, "Only if the Witch serves toast!" Peter snickered at the girl's sarcastic remark. Mara spotted a map on the table and went to grab it, thinking that they'll need it later. A wolf growl was heard from the outside, causing the children and beavers to freeze in fear. Mr. Beaver said, nodding to a hole near the fireplace, "Quick down this hole." The group rushed down the hole, with Mr. Beaver leading them. The silence was interrupted when the wolves were trying to get into the house. Mr. Beaver said, as they ran down the hole, "Badger and me dug this. Comes right near his place." Mrs. Beaver replied, shocked, "You told me it led to your mum's!" Mara had tripped over a branch, gasping. Peter rushed to her side and gently helped her up, noticing her limping. He whispered to her, "Are you alright?"

Mara nodded, ignoring the pain in her ankle, but the way she limped gave it away. Peter wrapped Mara's arm around him, helping her walk. Susan said, seeing that they came up to a dead end, "We should have brought a map." Mr. Beaver replied, "There wasn't enough room to next to the jam." Mara said, wincing from the pain from her ankle, "Here, I have it. *She gave the map to Mr. Beaver* I figured we would need it." In a matter of minutes, the group was out of the hole and was outside. When they were all out, Peter left Mara to Susan to go help the Beavers cover the hole with a barrel and a table to keep the wolves from getting to them. Lucy had fell over what seemed to be statues of animals. Mara turned and let out a scream at the sight. Everyone turned to see what had startled her and gasped at the sight. Mr. Beaver walked over to one, it looked like it was as if it was defending itself from something. He sighed, it was his best friend. Mrs. Beaver came up to her husband and said, rubbing his back as she comforted him, "I'm so sorry, dear." Mr. Beaver replied, sadly, "He was my best mate." Peter said, as he helped Mara to her feet, "What happened here?" A voice said, grabbing the group's attention, "This is what happens of those who choose to cross the Witch." A fox came into view, making Peter gently push Mara and his sisters behind him, protectively. Mr. Beaver said, "You take one more step, traitor, and I'll chew you to splinters!" Mrs. Beaver kept her husband from launching at the fox and doing something he will regret doing later. The fox said, coming up to them, "Relax, I'm one of the good guys." Mr. Beaver replied, glaring at him, "Yeah? Well, you look an awful lot like the bad ones." The fox said, "An unfortunate family resemblance but we can argue about breeding later. Right now, we gotta move if you want to see Aslan and Aria." Wolf barks were heard and had caused Lucy to cling to her brother's side. Peter said, "What did you have in mind?" Normally, Mara would've taken any other plan but the one that the fox had in mind was outrageous.

Here she was, with an injured ankle, in a tree. She held back a whimper when her ankle accidentally hit a branch and covered her mouth. The wolves had appeared when the girl's ankle had hit the branch. Mara watched as the wolves surrounded the fox who stood underneath the tree where the group was hidden. The fox said, as the wolves growled at him and circled him, "Greetings, gents. Lost something have we?" One of the wolves growled, irritated, "Don't patronize me! I know where your allegiance lies. We're looking for some humans and their little friend who just happens to be the daughter of Aslan and Aria." The fox laughed at them and said, pulling a facade, "Humans? Here in Narnia? That's very valuable information, don't ya think?" One of the wolves has had enough of the fox's antics so he launched and grabbed the poor fox's body with his mouth. Mara held back a gasp since she had her mouth covered, her eyes widening. Peter had covered Lucy's mouth since she had gasped at the sight and Mrs. Beaver did the same to her husband to keep him from going down there to argue. The leader of wolves said, stepping towards the fox, "Your reward is your life. It's not much but still. Where are the fugitives?" The fox replied, lying through his own teeth, "North. They went north." It was enough to convince the wolves and they ran, dropping the fox to the ground. After a few moments, the group decided that it was safe and they got down from the tree. Peter went to help Mara since her ankle was still in pain. He noticed that Mara's necklace was still glowing through the fur coat, more so than it did before. Susan helped carried the fox to the Beaver's house so they could tend to his wounds, as well as Mara's injured ankle. Mara turned to the fox and said to him, "Thank you for doing what you did back there. That was very brave but foolish of you." The fox replied, bowing his head at the girl, "It was an honor, Your Highness." Mara said, "Please, don't. I'm not royalty." The fox replied, chuckling, "Still in denial? I have seen your necklace, young one. That is no ordinary necklace. Your father, Aslan, gave you that necklace to keep you safe and hidden from the Witch until you came to Narnia when you were ready. Why do you think it's glowing so much? Hmm?" Mara just stared at the fox. Mrs. Beaver said to the young girl, as she moved over to help Mara with her ankle, "He is right, you know? Aslan and Aria gave you the professor when you were just a babe to keep you safe. I know it's a lot to take in but you just have to open your eyes and see." Peter walked over to them and gave Mara a plate of food. Mara said to him, as he sat down next to her, "Thank you." Peter replied, "Are you alright?" Mara said, sighing, "I'm doing okay. It's a lot to take in." Peter nodded, he understood how Mara was feeling. He wanted to help her so badly but he didn't know how. Ever since he had met Mara, he felt like they had a connection.
