Derek POV
You slammed the H.V.T. down on a chair and tied him down with zip ties. After doing that you walked in front of him and slapped him awake.
H.V.T.: Where am I?
Derek: A place where no one can hear your screams.
H.V.T.: Do you really think you could scare me?
Derek: I leave a trail of mask bodies wherever I go and I can kill you faster then you can yell out "Please". Dont tempt me.
H.V.T.: *laughs* You really think Talon gives a fuck about me? I'm just another lamb to the slaughter for him.
You grabbed rebar off the ground a few steps away and swung it down on his foot. The rebar bent slightly as the Mask gritted his teeth trying to supress his scream.
Derek: Keep talking like that and I'll make sure you never walk again. Let alone have a knee cap.
H.V.T.: What.. do you want... to know.
Derek: I want everything. Weapons, gear, how many masks are in Miami, where the hell is Talon!
H.V.T.: If you were smart you would've gotten a more higher up mask, they have all the unformstion you desire.
Derek: Well isn't today your lucky day. You still have the other information.
H.V.T.: We have weapon caches scattered across Miami to ensure every area is heavily armed. As for gear, they just have the same old mask uniforms with a ballistic vest. As for men well... you'd die if you tried charging in their now, especially since you're only a small squad of 6.
Derek: We have another squad with us who are more trained then you low life pieces of shits.
Anita looked over at you and shook her head
Derek: Got something to pitch in?
Bangalore: We did our job, now you do yours.
Derek: What job?
Bangalore: We only needed the H.V.T.
Derek: Yea, which we got for you.
Bangalore: Well would you look at that, mission accomplished, Valk get the Heli ready to leave, you can put the H.V.T. on.
Derek: Excuse me?
Bangalore: You heard me.
She stepped closer as you looked down at her.
Derek: This is a joint operation, your job is our job, our job is your job. We got you your target, you help us.
Bangalore: I dont have to do any such thing.
Wraith: Bang zip it, we cant just send them out alone, thats just suicide.
H.V.T.: Oh this is just great, maybe being captured wasnt so bad after all.
You gripped the rebar as you wacked his knee with it again.
Derek: Mick take him to a more secluded room with NATO and get anything you can out of him.
Mickey: Roger that.
Sean gripped the chair that the mask was sitting on and dragged them away into another room with Mark.
Derek: If you're scared of going into a fight thats outnumbered 10-1 just say that.
Bangalore: Im not scared of anything.
Derek: Well you have yet to step foot in that city and sat back while we did your job just for you to leave, that says alot about your motive.
Bangalore: You throw yourself everywhere you go. You can't live with your own failures, you just hope to get caught by a bullet but they hit the wrong spot. Except for those two that you so helplessly loved, what were their names again?
Loba: Anita, drop it.
Bangalore: Why should I? You really would take orders from this man? His casuality list was high not to mention he cant even do the simplest thing as keep his team in check.
Patch: That casualty has low deaths, with majority being of injury. Look more into it you stupid skank.
Bangalore: What did you just call me?
Patch: A skank, all you do is bitch about how you cant have Loba and get pissed when someone does your job better then you.
Bangalore: Dont talk back to your higher rank Private.
Derek: Isnt that what you're doing right now.. Sergeant?
Bangalore: Oh please, as if you deserve the rank of Lieutenant.
Derek: I've served 4 years in the marine corps, in those 4 years I've lead soldiers to victory, was one of the first to run straight into what felt like hell, lead my squad and many other marines with a gut wound, and lead operation after operation in Afghanistan. If you dont want to help us in retaking this city, thats fine. You wouldnt be of any help anyway.
You walked away from the group towards the back door and opened it. Before you left you turned your head.
Derek: Their names were Anna and Felix.
You slammed the door shut as you sat down outside leaning against the wall of the Facility. You stared towards the sky watching the moon set with a small bit of light piercing through the night sky. After a few minutes the door opened and you turned your head to see Loba.
Derek: What.
Loba: Cant a girl come talk for a bit?
Derek: Sorry, just pissed off.
Loba: You learn to get used to it.
Derek: Are you guys actually planning on leaving us to do this on our own?
Loba: It's like you said, you help us, we help you. Its why we joined up anyways.
Derek: As long as my squad isn't left in the dust if you guys decide to bail, then I'm with it.
Loba: You'd be coming with if that were the case.
Derek: If the LZ is too hot. Then I'm standing my ground.
Loba: You're no use to your squad if you're dead. They need someone like you.
Derek: Yea well, what Anita got wrong was that I will put my own life on the line as long as it ensures the safety of my friends or anyone innocent.
Loba: Isnt that every soldiers duty.
Derek: It is, however I will be sure of it that I wont let an innocent bystanders blood be on my hands when I could've done soemthing to change that. I wont let that happen again.
Loba: What exactly happened before?
Derek: It was early 2020 back in July I think. My squad was joined up with squads Iron and Achilles for a mission we named "Blitz".
Loba: Why Blitz.
Derek: We used the name from football. The entire plan was for us to charge into an Afghani Village that was taken over by Taliban in one clean swoop. The mission was a success, but the things I saw made me say otherwise.
Loba: If you dont want to talk about it then its fine, I understand why you dont talk about these things.
Derek: It's fine, when we officially broke into the village, we passed by streets as if it were a ghost town, everyone was hiding, but there was one place that caught my eye when we were finishing up with the Taliban. Me and Patch split with the rest of my squad and we took two medics from squad Achilles to go search the area for any wounded. As we swept houses we came across the one street, this one... alleyway. Blood covered the walls with the victims either laying against them or strung across the top to show power. The two medics vomited when we saw the sight, I couldn't blame them either, I wanted to aswell. When we took a closer examination theh noticed that the blood wasnt dry or congealed, it was fresh. Franklin finally summarized the event to have taken place an hour before we arrived. While we were driving to the village, they were being tortured and slaughtered.
Loba: How could you have known?
Derek: By getting there faster, if we had prepped earlier, if we had planned our strategy out faster, If we had just gone to that village in the beginning, none of them would be dead.
She leaned against the wall you were sitting against and looked up at the night sky.
Loba: The hard part about being the hero, is you cant save everybody. Its those you save, who are the most grateful that you were there for them. What would've happened if you never showed up at that time? What would've happened if you never showed up at all?
Derek: More people would've died, and the rest would've suffered.
Loba: But you got there, and you guys succeeded in what you were sent out to do. Think about all the lives you've saved because you were there. Think about how you've saved squads of marines from certain death, brought up their morale and never let them think poorly of the situation. Your sister wouldnt be standing by your side if it weren't for you. None of your friends would be here either, if it weren't for you. Same goes for you aswell, where would you be without them.
You took a second to think about it, remembering the first time you met them, all the way to 2018 in the U.S., to rescuing your sister from being held as a prisoner. It all made sense, they had your back, when you had theirs. You wouldn't be here if it weren't for them and they wouldn't be here if it weren't for your own will power to keep pushing forward.
Derek: Yea, you're right. Enough of the sappy shit, lets get to planning on how we're gonna make these sons of bitches suffer.
5 minutes later; Planning Table
Derek: Alright, after some more information was brought up from our humbly welcomed guest. We now have an eyesight on what we're looking at when we go boots on the ground into that city.
You motioned for Mark to place the notes and photos of areas down on the table.
Derek: They have weapon caches, vehicle drop offs, and gear locations scattered around the city. Its a big city so we have alot of ground to cover.
Wraith: Whats our beginning plan?
Derek: We start at the weapon cache North East of the city closest to us. If we can take that and clear the perimeter, we not only have extra weapons and ammunition. But it's our first step to creating a foothold in the city.
Demo: Plan of engagement?
Derek: I thought of it, gonna go for another football play. Blitz pinch.
Bulldog: *laughs* Just like washington?
Derek: Just like Washington.
Patch: How are we gonna plan this out Lt.
Derek: The plan is simple, however one crack could break the entire formation. With 3 squads with Squad A being the main force. Squads B and C will be a lesser force however the turning point of this strategy.
Bangalore: Just get to the point.
NATO: It's better to have all the information on the table then spitting out the plan.
You cleared your throat to get their attention. Once you got their attention again, you spoke up.
Derek: Squad A will push in directly towards the first steps of the city, push through defenses and slowly make way towards the weapon cache. This will hopefully draw the attention of every mask in the area to push towards our position. Squads B and C will push around from the North and East and catch them by surprise. Surround them, overwhelm them, pick them off one by one.
Valk: What about after that?
Derek: Stand our ground there. We will make them run, or let Miami be there resting place. Do i make myself clear.
Everyone: Yes sir.
Derek: Good, we roll out at 0800. No excuses, and no faults.
Mickey: And if we come across Talon?
Derek: Leave him to me. That son of a bitch... is mine.
