Today was a gloomy day in New York the moment Mai got up it was raining. She hated it when it rained. She grew up in the country that pretty much every day was sunny and the rain was messing with her happy mood.

She heard a knock on her door.

“Come in! Its opened.” she yelled as Drew got in her apartment

“How do you do that?” he asks her

“Do what?” she asks confusion written all over her face

“You didn’t even ask who it was. What if it wasn’t me but a murderer or something?” His serious face makes her laugh

“I don’t think murderers knock on your door.” She tells him still laughing

“What if it was a nice murderer?” her laughter becomes stronger and lauder

“Well if they are nice why are they murdering people? How did we even get to this topic?” Mai asks him and he shrugs his shoulders

“What are you up to today?” Drew asks her

“I was thinking to get some lyrics done but my good mood was ruined as I looked out of the window. I don’t think I can write anything now.” She says as she looks at her best friend looking out of her window “What about you anything interesting?” she walks to the window with two cups of coffee handing the other one to Drew.

“Well a have and audition this afternoon but to tell you the truth it’s not some role.” He says as he turns around to look at her.

Rain is pounding at the windows as the loud thunder brings both Mai and Drew form their thoughts. They are seated down on the couch drinking there coffee and watching something on TV when they here loud banging on the door. Mai gets up leaving her cup of coffee on the coffee table.

“I’m coming don’t bite my head off.” She yells as she is coming to the door. As she opens it a soaked man is standing in front of her door.

“Oh, my God! Ben what are you doing here?” Mai said looking at Ben who was soaked to the bone.

“Man it’s raining cats and dogs out there.” He said as she let him in to her apartment and Drew looked at him. Mai had told him about Ben but he did not imagined meeting him like this

“I’ll get you a towel.” She said going it to her bathroom for a towel “Drew could you make tea for Ben!” yelled Mai from the bathroom and Drew got up.

He put some water in the pot putting it on the stove to get warm as Mai showed up with a towel and some clouts.

Ben looked at her

“Ex boyfriend pile it’s all I got.” She told him and he took it from her going in the bathroom to change. When he was all dried and changed taking his tea to warm up Mai pulled a question.

“So what are you doing in New York? Not that I mind having you here.” She said in her own unique way.

“I need a favor from you Mai.” He said looking at her with a serious face

“Ok. How can I help?” she asked him but what was coming her way was not something she had seen coming her way

“I need a date.” He said as Mai blinked at him like he was talking nonsense that she could not put together and then she started laughing at him but he was still serious. When she stopped laughing and looked at him

“Oh you were being serious.” She said “Why do you need a date for?” she asked him

“I’m nominated for a BAFTA and I can’t go alone this time” he told her. Now she was catching on to what he wanted her to do.

“What’s a ....” Drew started but could not remember the name of the word that was mentioned a minute ago.

“BAFTA. It stands for British Academy of Film and Television Arts. They are an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image – film, television and games. In addition to its annual awards ceremonies, BAFTA has an international, year-round programme of learning events and initiatives offering access to talent through workshops, master classes, scholarships, lectures and mentoring schemes in the UK and the USA.” Mai explained to Drew who was nodding his head

“So will you come with me to the awards?” Ban asked and Mai was in a tight spot she didn’t have any intention on going to London of fear that she would find herself face to face with Matt. She knew that he was going to be there he was nominated but there was another thing she didn’t want to let down Ben he needed her now.

“I’ll pay for the dress and everything?” Ben said to her and she just give him a week smile

“Do you remember when I told you about my tattoos?” she asked him and he looked a little concerned

“The rose on your leg and the cross on your hand I know what about them?” he asked

“A few months ago I had one more done it’s a dragon on my right shoulder.” She said and waited for his reaction “It has not been seen by the public yet.” She said

“Oh you mean that I’d had to share the spotlight. Mai that’s fine with me.” He said to her and she was surprised

“Then I guess that we have a date and I need a dress.” She said to him smiling

It was the day of the BAFTA and Mai was having her makeup artist making her look like a movie star that she was. Her long black hair was pinned to the left side going in waives over her left shoulder she looked more beautiful than ever. The only tough in her mind was what was going to happen when she sees Matt. Her red dress was hung on the door. It was a beautiful gown it complimented her figure it had short slews that were covered in beautiful lace and slit to the knee with a scow that give the dress some fine glamour of the red carpet. In one word the dress was fabulous and Mai looked like she was a goddess the golden high heels and the bracelet with the diamond earrings that were a gift from Drew for her last birthday she looked spectacular. Maybe Daisy Lowe could beat her at taking the man she was still in love with but she could not look bather then her.

The doorbell rang and Drew yelled

“I’ll get it!” as Mai cheeked herself one more time in the mirror before exiting the room

Ben was making small talk with Drew when she come out but both man stopped talking as they heard the sound of heels walking to them. They both turned to look at her

“Wow you look wow.” Said Ben and Mai was pleased to hear it because that meant she had done her job

“Well thank you. You don’t look so bed in that tux yourself.” She said smiling to him

“So are you ready to go?” he asked and she nodded turning once again to Drew who had a smile on his face

“Knock him dead.” He said as hi give her a quick hug.

They drove in a limo to the awards. Mai felt that Ben was trying to impress the world but she didn’t mind a little attention on herself she was a star it was part of her daily life she was used to it. When the limo stopped Mai was about to grab the handle of the door when Ben stopped her

“Stay I’ll open the door.” He said exiting the car to get to her side where he opened the door for her and offered his hand which she took and exited the car locking her hand with his they walked down the red carpet.

There were numerous photographers she knew that they would be here as they stepped on the carpet they become the biggest sensation on the spot. Cameras were flushed at them and they both just smiled and posed.

Ben was stopped by a reporter who wanted to interview him so he stopped by her for a few minutes.

“Ben there are many mentions of you for this year’s BAFTA how do you feel about that?” the woman asked

“It’s a great honor to be just nominated even if I don’t win it will be a night to remember.” He answered as she kept asking him questions for a minute or two and then they sad goodbye to her

The hall was almost full there with celebrities and directors all talking and making noise Ben found their seats and they started a light conversation. After fifteen minutes the show started.

The host Graham Norton opened the show after the chairman did his opening speech

“Thank you and welcome to the BAFTA academy awards. Tonight is full of colorful characters good and bad but most of all big smiles. Celebrating the best of British television and film. Look at what a glamorous crowed I mean it seriously. Despite the rain you all look gorges out in that reed carpet. You did. I just wish somebody would haw warned me there was a darlek out there I thought it was Hilary Daywear in a hat. Is she here now? No she is outside…in a darlek. Now the young celebs don’t disappoint you guys are not afraid to show some skin.”  He kept on his routine true the entire evening telling jokes and making everybody laugh. Categories were called and Ban won best leading actor the night was a success now the only thing that Mai had to do was get through the after party. When they arrived Ben excused himself to go greet some friends as Mai was going to get some champagne. She needed it and then she crashed in to somebody.

“I’m so sorry miss I was...” she cut him of quickly

“No it was me I wasn’t looking.” She said looking up to the man she was apologizing to

“I’m Tom Hiddleston.” The name ringed a bell to her and he did look familiar

“Maite Perroni it’s pleasure to meet you!” she said still not knowing where she had seen him

“The pleasure is all mine.” He said with a smile grabbing two glasses of champagne and offering her one “Champagne?” she smiled and took the glass from his hand

“It’s like you can read my mind.” She said “You must get this a little but have I seen you anywhere or do you have one of those faces.” She asked

“I’d say you’d probably seen me somewhere.” His smile was genuine and he was sweet.

On the other side of the room Matt was boiling for jealousy he didn’t even noticed that Daisy has left.

“Matt how are you man.” Ban said slapping him on the back Matt was then brought to the reality

“Hey.” Said Matt as Karen, Alex and Arthur were coming his way. “Where are you going?” he asked as they were going to pass him by. Karen turned to him

“I’m going to say hello to your ex girlfriend and I’m goanna introduce Alex to her. Arthur do you want to come with?” she said that in a tone that was almost rude

“Yeah I’ll go say hello.” As they walked out on them Ben turned to Matt

“She is a hand full isn’t she?” and Matt looked at him

“You met her?” at that Ben laughed

“Well she is my date.” That surprised Matt

“I’m not dating her Matt I wouldn’t do that to you. Where is Daisy?” Ben asked and that was the moment Matt realized she was gone. His phone started to ring and he excused himself from Ben who had stumbled upon David Tennant and his Georgia Moffett.

Matt answerd his phone

“Daisy I was worried what happened to you?” he said

“No you weren’t you just noticed I was gone. Matt I think I can’t do this anymore you are still in love with her. You love her and you should fight for her. Goodbye Matt.” She said and the line went dead. Hi smiled at that and thanked her in his mind.

The evening went well the party was fun and he observed how Mai was smiling and that she looked more beautiful.

This was definitely a night to remember.
