So Edwin, he's a pretty decent guy but if I were you, I wouldn't ever make him angry. He gets really scary when he is pissed. But he also cares deeply about his friends.

Once we climbed into the only wagon that camp had which was drawn by a pair of pegasi. My jaw hit the ground when I saw this.

"Pegasi?" I asked incredulously. "Won't the humans freak out?" I asked.

Saesha just rolled her eyes. Classic, I ask a question, she knows the answer and of course she won't tell me. Sometimes I really wonder how a professor in Howard University ended up attracting the attention of Aphrodite rather than Athena because father and daughter are pretty damn smart.

Andrew sighed and said, "It's the Mist Oliver".

I must have looked pretty confused so then he said, "It is a supernatural force controlled by the goddess Hecate  that twists a human's sight from seeing monsters and other supernatural occurrences by replacing them with things the mortal mind knows about and can comprehend. Some can see  through the Mist as well and mythical creatures can all see through the Mist at most times, though sometimes the Mist is strong enough to fool even demigods."

"Um, ok" was my only answer.

When we hit the road, Edwin immediately warmed up to Saesha.

If you're a demigod like me it isn't long before trouble finds you. In my case 3 hours after we hit the road we were accosted by 4 cyclops. Why 4? Shoot I don't know maybe momma cyclops had 4 ugly kids or they were teams of 2 uglies wondering which team could be uglier by the end of the day.

"Gimme all your loot before I smash your heads in '' said the ugliest of them all.

Obviously the leader which would have been funny coming from an undergrown cyclops but there was nothing funny about their clubs. 3 feet long and covered with slime, mud and something that looked suspiciously like dried blood.

I made a really smart reply, "No way we're doing that. You'll kill us anyway."

"You're damn right we will" the biggest answered. "But if you give us the loot we'll kill you quickly, perhaps with a single hit" he mused.

"What if we don't?" Edwin wondered aloud.

"Then a slow, painfully excruciating death so disgusting it will take me days to clean up! You see we are.. um.. we are formulating this gruesome plan in our heads aren't we boys?" Ugly one asked.

The others grunted in agreement.

"You have no idea do you?" Saesha countered.

"Saesha, not now," I muttered under my breath. But she was already stepping forward, her eyes flashing.

"Listen here, you overgrown excuses for rocks," she said, her voice dripping with confidence. "You think you can just rob us and get away with it? Think again."

The cyclops leader looked taken aback. "You... you talkin' to me, girlie?"

"Yes, I am," Saesha replied, her voice steady. "And if you know what's good for you, you'll turn around and leave before things get ugly."

The cyclops roared with laughter, "Ugly? You think we scared of you, pretty face?"

Before they could attack with their clubs, something happened. Suddenly vines started to move and hold them in place, and not just any vines, they were thorny. However one of the uglies broke through and came straight at Saesha. She would have been flattened into a pancake if Edwin hadn't pushed her out of the way. She landed at my feet and I helped her up.Then when the cyclops swung at Edwin, he jumped out of the way and used the monster's own momentum to topple him and the cyclops' own club fell on its master turning him into golden dust. The cyclopes began to scream and then a girl's voice, surprisingly calm, called us

"Hey, come over here if you want to live" and without any hesitation we rushed over to her.

When we were safe and the cyclopes were nowhere to be found,Andrew asked "Who are you?"

"I am Aimee Ellen Blackstone, daughter of Hecate. And who might be you?" said Aimee with a smirk.

We introduced ourselves to Aimee and told her about our quest when she said she was on her way to the underworld too so we decided to let her come with us as she might be helpful for us.

While Aimee gathered her supplies I asked Saesha whether she was alright. She shrugged indifferently however I could see that she was shell shocked underneath the pretence.

"You know getting attacked by a cyclops is pretty scary. No one would blame you if you needed a moment." I told her.

"I'm just in shock I guess." she replied.

I rolled my eyes and tried to sit down on a rock but miscalculated and ended up with my butt in the sand. Saesha laughed, her laugh was as clear and beautiful as the sun on a cloudless day. She offered me her hand and helped me up. We locked eyes and at that moment I realised how pretty her multi-colored eyes were. I held her gaze for a moment too long before she blushed and looked away.
