//Your POV Still//
You made your way from the mansion and all the way back to Mondstadt in the morning.
You had to give supplies to Wagner that he could refine so you could request he make you a new sword, as yours wasn't in the best of shapes anymore.
You began to cross Timmie's bridge, waving at the boy as his pigeons hopped away from you as you passed.
Only to stop as a familiar ginger stood a few feet away.
Your heart dropped as you watched the fatui harbinger notice you and wave with a smile.
"Hey y/n!" He called, to which you looked the other way, trying to ignore him, as you began walking again.
"Y/n? Everything okay?" He questioned, jogging up to walk beside you.
Why was he even in Mondstadt in the first place? Still?
You shoot him a glare and stop walking again, telling him to leave you alone.
He seemed to pause, seemingly hurt.
"..Did I do something stupid last night?" he hesitantly asked, fear building up in his eyes.
"You really have no idea? Do you seriously not remember!?" You rage.
"W-Wait - What ever I did- I'm sorry! I.. I really don't remember what happened - I must have had too much to drink - Y/n Please listen for a secon-" He began pleading as you started to walk off again.
"No! Leave me alone! I don't want to see you right now!" You yelp.
Looking forward again as Childe followed close behind, trying to get you to tell him what happened, you see Kaeya begin to walk up to you.
Not him too..
He stops in front of you and crosses his arms.
"Oi, Fatui - you heard her. Leave her alone." He growls. (ehe woof woof)
Childe reluctantly watched as Kaeya moved and let you pass, but blocked him, before joining you by your side. The ginger didn't try and follow, thankfully.
"Everything okay?" Kaeya asks.
Is he serious? Everything okay!?
"Yeah. I'm fine." you answer, clearly lying.
Kaeya stopped walking, catching your attention, so you look back at him.
"You know you can tell me if something is wrong.. or something happens, right?" He points out.
You pause, combing through his words, and his face for any insincerity just to find nothing. He seemed to genuinely care, a strange look on Kaeya, not a bad one though.
You hesitate, but you keep your mouth shut, merely giving him a nod before walking up to Wagner's station where he was hammering at something.
"The materials. I need them refined." You request, setting a bag of ores on the table, to which Wagner nods.
Looking back at Kaeya, he stood watching you while his face held an unreadable expression. Then a knight hurriedly approached Kaeya, saluting him before speaking.
"Captain Kaeya! Your presence has been requested at headquarters! Acting Grand Master Jean would like to see you! Urgently!" The Knight stated.
Kaeya held a disappointed look, but nodded and waved the knight off.
"See you around then Y/n... Say- can we talk later?" He asked, seeming to hesitate before the question.
"Sure. Now go see to your knightly duties, Mr. Cavalry Captain." You insisted, and with that, he flashed a smile and left.
Turning back to Wagner you put in your new weapon request and gives him a pouch of Mora to cover the cost. After the order was placed, you decided to go and check on Venti.
You quickly make your way over to his home and knock on the door. When he doesn't answer, you knock again.
You could hear someone moving about inside, and as you go to knock again, the door finally clicks open.
Your eyes are met with a disheveled looking Venti.
"You look like crap" you point out blatantly, earning a sarcastic scowl from Venti as he lets you in.
"Shut it- I have a terrible hangover now" He admitted, earning a disapproving look from you as you walked to the kitchen to get him some water.
"But thank you. For taking care of me last night, and coming to check on me" He said, clearly embarrassed.
"Of course, what are friends for?" You chuckle, handing him a glass of water.
"I didn't do anything too stupid did I?" He asked after downing the water.
"Pfft- You Were pretty stupid- but nothing I couldn't handle" You laugh, checking his forehead for temperature.
"I don't think alcohol gives you fevers n/n-" He points out in reaction to you putting a hand on his forehead.
"Doesn't hurt to check - and your sweating so-" You point out, trying not to laugh in the process.
"Can we go to Windrise? I need fresh air" Venti asks suddenly with hopeful look in his eyes.
You nodded happily and helped him fix his hair into his usual braids before you set off for Windrise.
As you and Venti made your ways to the tree, you both joked and talked about random things. Once you finally reached the tree, Venti rushed ahead and threw himself down on the ground near the tree, sighing in relief.
With a chuckle, you did the same, landing nearby to him. You both laid quietly there for a few minutes, letting the air calm your senses.
After a few hours of climbing the tree, picking flowers, and cloud watching, Venti suddenly popped up from where he'd been laying, watching the birds fly over head.
"Ah! I nearly forgot! I told Margaret I'd perform tonight for an event shes having with her family!" He claimed.
"Oh okay! Just whatever you do- No Drinking tonight!" You yelped, dissapointed he had to leave.
He gave a sad face and let out a long 'pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee?' to which you firmly shook your head.
"Just one?" he pleaded, earning a hard glare from you to which he sighed and nodded.
"okay okay, I wont drink.." he gave in, adding a 'too much' at the end of his statement in a whisper.
You rolled you eyes and waved as he jogged away from the tree, leaving you to yourself now.
Getting up from your spot on the grass, you walked over to a patch of windwheel Asters and smiled, watching it's petals sway in the wind.
Looking up, you noticed a large flock of birds passing overhead and sighed before making your way back to the base of the tree.
You scanned the surrounding area for any threats before laying back down on the grass as you and Venti had done when you first arrived.
The sun quickly began to set, and you rose from your relaxing position and looked around again.
Then your eyes rested apon the Statue of the Seven nearby, and the figure kneeling below it.
It looked like.. Kaeya?
What was he doing out here?
You get up and brushed yourself off before walking over to where Kaeya was. As soon as he felt your prescence he quickly stood and looked you over.
"Ah! I thought you might be over here!" He smiled.
"You were looking for me?" You asked, confused at his choice of words.
"I mean, not directly, but I didn't see you in the Angel's Share, and I saw Venti on the way here, he told me you might still be here" He explained.
"Oh I see- What were you doing at the Tavern?" you pressed
"Uh- " Kaeya let out a nervous chuckle - before stopping his answer as you let out a laugh.
"I'm only kidding, you don't owe me an answer" You clarified, chuckling at his little panic.
"Right right - Shall we return to the city? It'll be dark soon" Kaeya offered, to which you nodded.
As you began the trek back, Kaeya walked a step ahead of you but basically beside you, as if he were leading you, or protecting you.
The walk was peaceful, until the hilichurils appeared. They weren't really a problem, they were just ruining the moment.
You quickly drew your sword and held it out in front of you, as did Kaeya.
He quickly struck one down, and so did you a few seconds after.
The odds were in your favor, until the abyss mage showed up.
Now it wasn't good. You've faced one before and won, but it was alone, where you didn't have to worry about comrades in the way.
Now Kaeya was there, and he was trained on the mage as well as it cackled.
The next issue you noticed was it's element.
Hydro.
It sent a bubble your way, and you quickly dodged it, just to be tackled by a hilichuril.
Not good.
Too late.
Before you could react, you were suddenly enveloped in a bubble of water.
Your vision blurred and you tried to keep from screaming as you hadn't taken a very deep breath before getting trapped.
You couldn't see what was happening, and only hoped the bubble would burst before you drowned.
Squeezing your eyes shut, you kicked and squirmed trying to break the bubble, grabbing at your throat as it began to burn, your lungs desperate for air.
It seemed to never end. It felt as if you'd be trapped in the bubble for an eternity.
You felt your body loose it's energy, as you choked back the need to breathe, until you couldn't and you felt your mouth open, water rushing in-
But before you took the breath, the bubble dissipated, replaced with Icy shards and freezing air as you fell to the ground, gasping for air.
You shivered there, soaked and coated in frosty ice, staring at the ground in shock.
Kaeya dropped to your side and you felt him drape something warm over your shoulders.
"Y/n!? Can you hear me?? Are you okay!?" His voice finally registered in your brain and you shook your head, trying to come to your senses.
He grabbed your face and looked you over, his face radiating concern.
"Y-yeah.. I think .. Thank you.." you finally stated.
Kaeya's eyes softened again and he used his thumbs to wipe the frost from your face.
Then he did something unexpected.
After he wiped your face, he leaned in and pecked you on the forehead gently and looked back.
You sat in shock and confusion at his gesture as you felt your cheeks warm slightly.
He seemed to have realization set in and he quickly let go of your face and stood again.
Clearing his throat he picked up your sword off the ground and held it out to you.
"Come on.. people are going to be worried about you if we don't get back soon" He states as you take the sword from him and he helps you up.
As you steady yourself, you brush off your clothes, that were still both wet and covered in a layer of frost from Kaeya's efforts to break the bubble.
The rest of the walk was proceeded in silence.
You took comfort in Kaeya's incredibly fluffy scarf that he had put around you as a blanket as you both walked.
Upon reaching the bridge into the city, you both stopped.
Diluc stood at the entrance to the city, arms crossed. In tow, he had a guilty looking Venti beside him.
"Explain. Now" Diluc demanded, confusing Kaeya and you the same.
"What?" you asked.
"Why are you getting back so late? And why are you with him, wearing his scarf, and- your all wet?"
"What are you? My Dad?" You scoff.
"No. I'm your brother"
"What are we supposed to explain again?" Kaeya asks, still lost to whats going on.
Diluc, rather than answering, steps up to Kaeya, firmly grabbing his shirt collar and shoved him against the wall of the bridge suddenly.
Kaeya quickly glanced over his shoulder to the water below and raised his hands in front of him in surrender.
"DILUC! Stop! Let go of him!" you yelp, putting a hand on Diluc's arm.
"He was just walking me back is all! He saved me from an abyss mage and it's hilichuril compainions! It was a hydro mage so I got all wet and so i was cold! Thats why I have his scarf!" You quickly explain to him, earning a 'tch' from Diluc.
Diluc released Kaeya who quickly steps away from the edge of the bridge and fixes his clothing as you quickly remove Kaeya's scarf from your shoulders and hold it out to him.
"I'm sorry to have caused you all this trouble-" You apologize.
"No no, it's okay - Your brother just a hot head" He cut you off with an inner smirk, saying the second part in a lower voice, earning himself a glare from Diluc.
"You can keep the scarf for now, your still all wet, so you may need it, it's pretty cool out tonight" He added.
Diluc steps in again and grabs the scarf from your hands and shoves it to Kaeya.
"She's fine. If need be, I'm a pyro user. I can warm her." He snapped, grabbing onto your arm.
"Let go Diluc! Your hurting me" You yelp, taking a step back, genuine fear creeping up in your eyes.
Diluc was clearly Irritated, and Kaeya being there wasn't helping.
"Y/n.." he growls, trying to keep calm, or calm himself down.
"Im trying to protect you Y/n." He states, swallowing his fury as much as he can.
"I'm not a little kid anymore Diluc. I don't need you constant protection! Besides- Kaeya did more protecting today than you did!" You yelp, immediately regretting your choice of words.
If there was anything Diluc hated, it was being compared to Kaeya, in any way.
Now he was hurt, and mad.
You watched, unsure of what to say as Your brother sighed.
"I see." He simply says to keep himself from raging, before turning around again to storm off.
"D-Diluc wait!" you cry, taking a step to go after him, but you stop as tears formed and Kaeya put a hand on your shoulder.
"Leave him. He needs to cool down." Kaeya insists.
You do nothing but stand there, watching Diluc's low pony tailed red hair get further away. Kaeya quickly guides you to turn around with his hand and leads her back to his place of residence.
Venti must have slipped away earlier without anyone taking notice.
You kept wiping the tears from your face as you stood in his home. Kaeya left your side for a moment only to reappear again with a glass of water. He set it down on the table and before you could do anything else, you collapsed in tears.
Kaeya was instantly beside you, catching you from hitting the ground with full force, before lowering you down, and sinking next to you.
A few minutes passed as he let you let it out beside him as he used his thumb to rub circles on your back.
Once you began to recover, Kaeya cupped your face in his hands again, making you look at him, although you adverted you eyes, embarrased and feeling vulnerable under his gaze.
"Y/n. Look at me" He requests, wiping your tear with his thumb.
After a second, you look up at him again, your eyes gazing into his.
Your breath hitches in your throat as he leaned closer.
He seemed to be thinking about something. Hesitating.
"May I?" He finally spoke again, not wanting to overstep with you.
After a moment it took you to realize what he'd said, you gave a small nod, not entirely sure what he meant, but knowing what he was implying.
In an instant, his lips were upon your own as he pressed them into yours.
You felt yourself relax under his pressure and you melted into the kiss as it deepened.
It seemed to last for an eternity and nothing but a brief second at the same time.
Once you both pulled away for air, Kaeya rested his forehead against yours and you both sat on the floor like that for another moment.
When he finally moved, Kaeya stood and pulled you up with him.
In a swift movement, he swept you up and gently held you, bringing you into a different room and setting you on the bed softly.
Then you realized how tired you were as he turned away and searched for something in a drawer nearby.
"Here, put something else on, so you aren't soaked" He insisted, handing you a set of simple clothes for sleep.
You nodded and accepted the clothes, and he smiled before leaving the room.
At his departure, you quickly switched out your clothes, folding up your wet ones.
Kaeya's clothes were definitely too large for you, and you attempted to make it work before you heard a knock at the door.
"are you finished?" Kaeya asked from the other side.
You took a breath and opened the door for him. His eyes looked over you before he chuckled at the sight of you in his outfit.
He walked in and grabbed your hand and brought you over to the bed again.
He made you lay down and he pulled the covers over you, before leaning down and kissing your forehead.
You could barely keep your eyes open as he pulled away. Before you could register what happened next, you passed out.
