Without Tanya around, Emily and Wanika were lost. They always had Tanya to push them into doing the things they could only dream of. Even before Wanika had even met her, she always took courage in that of others. One of those "others" being Tanya.
Not to mention that they were in the greatest state of grief that anyone had ever experienced. People soon began to notice that they were not in a healthy mental state and started demanding for new Hunters to be put into power. At this point, Emily and Wanika didn't care what happened. All hope for them had been lost the second Sibyl pulled that trigger. The question was, though, who would do it? Who would lead the only humans smart enough to fight against the hand of Katianna?
People scattered everywhere searching for the perfect new occupant of Hunter HQ. It was not an easy task to find someone as willing to devote their life to protecting the list and the planet. Most refused the offer upon them, saying that they didn't want to end up like the leader of the Kallians. But there was one girl who chose to rise up and declare herself the position that Wanika once held. In her mind, she was the only one who would be able to. She had experienced a dire crash, a horrific eating disorder, and an atrocious accident involving her legs. Somehow, she lived to tell the tale. This is what made her an exceptional leader.
Amelia Roth.
The funny thing was, ten years ago she would never have imagined doing anything like this. If someone were to tell her she would be the one to step-up and run the "rebels" of the current government, she would have slapped them across the face for even thinking of such a thing. Now, she could see no other option. Her legs worked again, her diet was excellent, and most of all, she loved the attention of others. She never knew why, all the sudden, her life made a complete 180, but she didn't care. She couldn't be happier about it. The best part is that now it was her turn to show the world the greatness she always felt she possessed.
"I'm relieving you of your duty," Amelia said to Wanika when she walked into Headquarters.
The former leader didn't say anything as she slightly smiled and carried the last of her things in a tiny box out of her huge office. She didn't seem to mind much that she was leaving. It was almost like she was glad to have the weight of the Hunters finally off of her shoulders.
"Now, my first order of business is to upgrade this technology," Amelia declared as Wanika was almost out of the room. Wanika rolled her eyes and continued walking. There were more important things to do than install Windows 25.
The second the door shut, Amelia's chosen company instantly began discussing what they were going to do about the Kallians.
"Sibyl has to die, there is no doubt about it," one of the sidekicks stated.
"We can't just kill her! We would face the wrath of Katianna," another argued.
"And don't forget that she's the only one who can open the strange lock she put on the book," someone added.
Amelia quieted them as she began to install the newest and greatest spyware available. "I have a plan, but you have to follow me" she told them.
They all instantly cleared the way of the door and followed behind her as they began to her what she had to say.

Sibyl was just sitting on a chair in her small 4-by-4 temporary holding cell when the guard in charge of her got called out on emergency business. She took this as an opportunity to express her distaste in the current situation.
Her screams ripped through the electrically charged metal gate and echoed off of the insulated concrete walls that kept her confined. She grabbed at the ends of her hair and pulled with all of her built up energy. Being imprisoned wasn't fun. She deserved every second of it, but she didn't like it at all. She was slowly losing her mind! Sibyl hadn't talked to anyone since the day in the house, and that was nearly a month ago. Hunters had repeatedly come in and tried to get her to open the book, but she never even payed attention to them. When people asked her questions, she glared at them until they went away.
She had done this to herself. Whether it was intentional or not, she didn't know. But she had to suffer the consequences. And the consequences were a lifetime of solitude and loneliness while her partner was out fighting to become the most well-known name in history.
On top of all that, her head hurt. The sounds of her own throat were causing the worst migraine she'd ever felt in her entire life.
Wait.
There was something unfamiliar about the space she had come to know very well. The sound seemed...louder than normal. Sibyl quickly hushed herself and still heard the noise piercing her ears. Her screams must have been echoing a lot more than usual.
Or was it something else?
Now the noise was starting to take sound of something else. Another sound she knew very well, yet she couldn't quite place her finger on it. Over the course of the past month, Sibyl had forgotten what most of the outside world was like. She couldn't even picture the color of the sky anymore and didn't remember how it felt to breathe in cool, fresh air under the sunrise.
What was going on? Why did this sound remind her of Katianna...
Of course! She realized excitedly. It means national emergency!
Ever since their partnership began, Katianna and Sibyl had set off more national emergencies than they could count. Of course, the citizens were never aware of the state of their union, but the Hunters and every organization like it never failed to notify its patrons and staff of what was going on.
And that was what was happening now.
"Yes!" The word rang out of her mouth like the bells of angel wings. It was the first one she'd spoken and she was glad it was for such a fantastic occasion. Of course this meant that there was the possibility of the guard not coming back, but she didn't care. The things she had worked for were finally falling into place.
At that moment, she was so filled with the joy that she had completely forgotten why she'd left Katianna in the first place.
Then, something strange happened. The buzz of the electricity and the wailing of the emergency stopped. All Sibyl could hear was the sound of her own breath. Eternities passed until something else filled the silence. She looked for the location and found the sound of rusted metal scraping against the cold concrete. She couldn't believe her luck. Was the gate really going up? Was she really being released? Or was this another one of those twisted dreams she'd been experiencing lately?
Dream or no dream, she wasn't going to wait around until the gate closed again. With a smile plastered on her face, she gathered her pencils and paper and tore out of that room faster than an escapee at the scene of a crime. Which, she kind of was.
She entered the hallway that she was brought down after killing Tanya and immediately realized she had no idea where on earth she was going. Hunter HQ was one of the largest buildings in the current world, stretching farther than one thousand feet and occupying both underground and above ground land.
"Crap," she muttered to herself. There were so many hallways around, she didn't know which one to take. One of them would lead her outside to freedom, but the rest would take her further and further into Hunter territory. One mistake and she was doomed to all eternity in this hell hole. It was like a Choose Your Destiny book, except she only got one chance and the "destiny" would be painfully real.
After long consideration, Sibyl went with the classic decision of spinning with her eyes closed and picking one at random. It was the best way to handle it. She spun for a minute before finally stopping and extending her hand. Her finger pointed to three halls up on the right of her.
She took a deep breath and then began her journey out. The hallway she went down took a sharp turn right, and then split into two directions. She contemplated going back, but decided to trust her gut and went right. That hall split again, and she continued right. Every time she was faced with a decision, she picked the right hall and kept walking. It was as good a method as any.
Finally, she was standing before a single, open door. Wanika's office. Of course, she had no way of knowing that Wanika no longer inhabited it. They didn't exactly have news columns in the prison.
She looked around for cameras or guards, but saw no one. The room was left in a state of distress as if someone had frantically searched around and then fled without cleaning up. And now that she thought of it, she hadn't heard a single thing walking through the building. Usually, there was blowing of air conditioning and chatter of people in their offices. There was yelling and planning and life going on around here. But now, there was nothing. It was as if everyone and everything had just disappeared. Even in Wanika's office, the only occupants of space were overturned boxes and scattered papers. Monitors, computers, and weaponry were nowhere to be found.
That wasn't even the strangest thing.
The strangest thing was what sat unopened peaking out from behind the bottom right corner of the old-fashioned mahogany desk near the back of the room.
The book.
Her book. And no one else was around to try and take it from her.
It seemed perfect, almost too perfect. The way her guard had conveniently left the room just moments before the gate opened, the way the hallway that was normally flooded people now felt like a ghost town, and the book that just happened to be sitting in perfect condition in her view. Oh, and it no longer reeked, which came as a surprise to Sibyl because she hadn't disabled the book's emergency protection lock. That that meant that someone else had figured out how to do it. It also meant that that same someone could have opened it as well.
When that thought entered her mind, she raced towards it to look for any indication of access. There were scratch marks on the sides of the pages and marks from where it looked like someone had taken scissors to it, but other than that there were no signs of entry. Not that there would be if someone had the proper words for it.
Sibyl cautiously looked around, absolutely sure that there were hidden cameras somewhere. But at this point, she barely even cared.
The things Tanya had said before Sibyl had killed her were true. And they still rang through her head nearly every minute of every day. If they were watching her, if someone had truly lured her out of her cell and to this room, then she hoped they would enjoy every second of what she was about to do.
She grabbed the book and held it to her chest, contemplating whether or not she wanted to go through with this. It's the only way out, she told herself. Every other way would fail.
She brought the book above her head, breathing heavily as she did so. Then, she uttered the words that her and Katianna had programmed so long ago. Words she never thought she had to say.
"Marwolaeth . Marwolaeth . Mae pob un ohonom yn marw . Yr ydych chi a fi a phawb . Byddwn yn mynd ."
It was the language of the country of Wales where they had hidden during Sibyl's training. Kate was the one to come up with the idea.
"We should have a special phrase. Something that we can use in an absolute emergency. Something that only we know about in a language that only we will know," she had suggested.
Sibyl loved the idea. "That sounds great, but we can't just invent a language."
Katianna had just laughed. "Oh darling, we won't have to. We will take the language of those that barely speak it." Then she gestured around her to the land that they lived on.
Welsh. They would do it in Welsh. Most of the Welsh had transformed into modern day English, leaving Katianna and her vast knowledge of languages one of the only people left to speak it fluently. Sibyl immediately agreed. And so, the phrase had been created, both of the girls promising to never use it unless it was their only choice.
And this was Sibyl's only choice.

Amelia sat back in the comfort of her own home. Her puffy pink chair had always been the best place to get work done and relax at the same time. Her three friends were standing behind her, each one of them monitoring a different area of Hunter HQ. Their plan was in motion and near completion, all they were waiting on was for Sibyl to make a move.
"She's entering your office," the widest of the friends said to Amelia. Amy smiled, everything was falling into place. She had Sibyl right where she wanted her.
"Excellent," she breathed with joy.
Sibyl looked around, making sure that there was truly nobody around. Then she began what everyone watching assumed was the opening process of the book.
"Marwolaeth . Marwolaeth . Mae pob un ohonom yn marw . Yr ydych chi a fi a phawb . Byddwn yn mynd ," Sibyl said aloud.
Amelia's friends just looked at each other, not sure what to do. She rolled her eyes and began to shout at them. "Don't just stand there you idiots! Turn on the auto-translater and rewind!"
The short one frantically began to press buttons and soon they were watching the same scene, but with English.
"Death. Death. We all die. You and I and everyone else. We will be going."
The words baffled the people watching. They had no clue what their former prisoner was doing.
Then, a bright light rose from the book and blocked the view of the camera. All anyone could see was a pure whiteness. Amelia demanded for someone to do something, but all the buttons and software in the world couldn't fix what was wrong. The lighting wasn't a problem with the camera or a glare, it was what was actually in the room.
"What the hell is going on!?" Amy screamed. Her friends nervously tried to explain to her that there was nothing they could do to fix it.
Bursting with anger, Amelia yanked her car keys off of the clutter shelf by the front door and headed outside.
"Amy, don't go! It could be dangerous!" The short one pleaded. Amelia ignored the warning and took off.
Two minutes later, she was marching through the underground sector of HQ in the direction of her office. She was determined to find out what it was that Sibyl was doing.
But when she got to the room, everything in there was gone. Including the desk, the papers, the boxes, the cameras that were digitally connected to her wristwatch, and Sibyl and the book.
She let out the loudest roar of frustration that she had ever allowed herself to do as she began to punch the wall. She cursed at herself for being so stupid and not realizing that Sibyl would obviously have had a way to escape no matter what happened.
Then, Wanika appeared. She was standing behind Amelia, watching her throw her fit. When she was done, Wanika cleared her throat and Amy spun around.
"I failed you. I took your job and I failed you. Sibyl is gone and there is no way to find her!" Amelia cried.
Wanika rolled her eyes and then grabbed the girl's hand. "You're forgetting something. I'm her sister," she explained.
Amelia scrunched her nose in confusion. "I know, but what does that have to do with anything?" Amelia knew that there was no way to track someone without a trail, which Sibyl had clearly not left. Even someone as smart and close to her as Wanika would not be able to figure it out. It would take a miracle to even get a hint at which direction she had turned.
Wanika smiled and then lead her through a series of turns and doors until they appeared at an old-style elevator with a folding door.
"This stupid thing doesn't work. I tried it at last year's meeting," Amelia declared, not sure what the other girl was up to.
"Just hush and follow me," Wanika instructed. Amelia did as commanded as Wanika did a series of knocks on the wall beside the elevator. Shortly after, the girls heard a small "Ding" and the door to the elevator folded in, creating an opening for them to enter.
Amelia followed Wanika in where she did another series of knocks. Then the small moving box was quickly descending downwards at a speed that was only normal for vehicles with wheels. The elevator stopped with a ding that let them know the ride was over. Wanika exited first with Amelia on her heels.
Amelia started ask all kinds of questions about the elevator and where they were going but Wanika quickly shushed her. Soon they arrived in what looked like a scene right out of a scary movie. There was a creepy shrine to a boy she didn't recognize. There were cobwebs all over every corner and piece of furniture and there wasn't a single surface not coated with dust. A dark, eerie feeling settled upon them in the unlighted room.
Wanika sat in front of the shrine and began to do what Amelia assumed was praying. When she was done, Amelia asked what she had done.
"Just wait," Wanika told her.
Then a beautiful figure appeared before them. It didn't have the glow of an angel or the vibe of a dark one, but it's presence felt just as powerful.
"Who-what?"
The being smiled and extended his hand. Amelia carefully shook it, still confused as to what had just happen.
"This is where I got my powers from. Now, as the new leader of the Hunters, you will too," Wanika explained, proud to be showing this to someone else.
For the first time in a long time, Amelia was speechless. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't find the right words to describe what she was seeing before her. Powers? Wanika didn't have powers. The only person with powers was Katianna...right?
And it wasn't like she could have powers. If Amelia could do anything out of the ordinary...well that was a death sentence in Katianna's eyes.
Amelia just stared at the male figure in front of her, still not sure of what was going on.
Wanika laughed at her weakness. "What? Haven't you seen a ghost before?"
"Ghost?" Amelia asked.
The boy laughed. "The name's Hunter."
Amelia was more confused than ever. Hunter...she'd never heard of any actual person named Hunter. Once that became the name of their group, people dropped it as a baby name so that things wouldn't get confused.
Again, Wanika laughed. "You didn't think that we were called the Hunters for no reason, did you?"

I know the plot twists are not as good as they used to be and this kind of plot isn't what you guys wanted but I'm the writer and I like it. Also, I apologize for publishing late. I kinda spent all my time watching YouTube videos instead of posting on Wattpad..... whoops. It's only two days late though, and it's been exactly a week since the last update! So at least I'm keeping up with the once-a-week thing :)
As you can guess, there will be one more chapter.
Now, HUNTER IS BACK! If that name doesn't ring a bell, go back and read the second chapter of this book.
WHO SAW THAT COMING!? Anyone got any guesses or feedback? No one gives feedback anyways so idk why I put that. Never mind I guess.
Well, hope you liked this chapter! Thanks for reading!
