Blair POV.
•••
A date.
That's what I'm about to go on.
I did the whole should I dress lazy and act like I don't care thought process. And I concluded that there's really no point since I look good in whatever I put on.
Now I'm just sitting on my couch, nervous as hell, waiting for him to send me a text to come down.
"She looks nervous." Blake mumbles to Natalie. Natalie looks up from her phone and agrees.
"I would be too."
"Were you nervous about our first date?" Blake asks.
"No, not really."
"Oh."
"Maybe I should tell him I'm sick." I say to no one in particular.
"He's supposed to be here in two minutes." Natalie laughs.
"What if he stands me up?"
"He's not."
"How would you know Blake?" I raise an eyebrow at him.
"Because I live with him, and talk to him." Oh... yea I forgot about that.
"Was he nervous?" I ask, with a little hope in my voice that he was.
"No." Ohh...cool
We hear a knock at our door and all jump up. "Is that him?" Natalie asks excitedly.
"Should I open the door, and you like make an entrance?" Blake asks nervously.
"Why are you nervous? It's making me nervous." Blake shrugs and tries to shoo me to the other room. "No, I can just open the door."
"Ok, well open it." He says impatient.
"Blake, maybe we should go hide." Natalie suggest and I groan.
"Guys it's not a big deal," I sigh and open the door.
There, standing in all his glory, was Jake Heart. Giving me one of his playful smirks. "You look beautiful." He says, his eyes never leaving mine.
"You didn't even look at my outfit."
"I know." He shoots me a wink and looks back at Blake and Natalie. Both of them not so subtly ease dropping. "Blake, Natalie." He nods.
"Bring her back at a reasonable time." Blake says trying to keep a stern face.
"That would make me a gentleman, and you know I'm anything but." He shoots Blake a wink and I follow him out.
The walk is quiet down to the car. I thank him when he opens the door, and get in. He sighs and looks at me, "You're acting awkward." Me? Awkward? Definitely couldn't be me.
"I'm not acting awkward."
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you...if any of our friends were here they'd say we're acting like five year olds." I was so close to saying I'm not acting like a five year old you are, but I think that would just prove his point.
"Let's act like this isn't a date."
"This is a date?" I ask sarcastically. He rolls his eyes at me. "Fine, this isn't a date."
"Just two friends hanging out." I snort when he says that.
"We're friends?"
"You're a pain in my ass. Fine, just two people..."
"With sexual tension?" I suggest.
He laughs, "Two people with sexual tension hanging out."
"But it is a date still...right?" Just making sure, because it will be very awkward if I'm still thinking this is a date and it's not.
"Yes, we are just going to pretend it's not. At least until you stop acting weird."
"Deal." He smiles and starts the car.
"Ok, so I have two ideas. One, you can pick where we eat. Or two, I can take you to one of my favorite places to eat, but it's a little far away."
I choose the second option, but what I didn't know was a little far away for him, was an hour.
"We practically could've drove home by now." I laugh. My smile instantly drops when I start to pay attention to where we are.
We were practically home, and we were at the diner that I've been to many times. This has to be some joke.
"We're here." He puts the car in park, and gets out. While me, the idiot, stays frozen and in shock. Jake comes to my side and opens the door. "What's wrong?"
"Oh nothing, I've just been here before."
"Oh shit, do you not like it? We can go somewhere else."
I turn and smile at him, "I actually love this place, let's go." He grins, grabs my hand, and leads me into the diner.
"Jacob!" Oh god...
"Hey Nana!" He smiles and hugs her. Her eyes widen when they see me.
Please don't remember me... Please don't remember me... Please... "Blair!"
"Hey Nana." I give her a nervous smile. She then looks at Jake, then looks at me, then looks at Jake again, before looking and sending me a wink.
"Oh Blair when I said an older brother, I was thinking Andrew. I had no idea anyone would be able to tie down Jacob." Jake gives me a confused look. I laugh and give him a nervous shrug. "Let me show you kids to your table."
I'm happy when she doesn't take us to the usual booth we go to, but one near it. "This is Jacob's usual booth." She smiled. She then leaned in and whispered in my ear, "You definitely got the most handsome one if I do say so myself."
The rest of the date goes by, somewhat smoothly. Us, clearly avoiding the elephant in the room. What did she mean, she didn't think anyone could tie Jake down?
We had just finished eating our meals and now are ordering milkshakes for dessert. Jake ordered an Oreo one, and I ordered a cookie dough one. I groan when I take my first sip. "God, I forgot how much I love the milkshakes here." I'm mid, taking another sip, when I look up and see Jake staring weirdly at me. "What?" I ask.
His eye still have this glaze over them when he mumbles, "Hmm?"
"You're staring at me strangely, and haven't even tried yours." I point to his untouched shake.
He looks down at it and laughs. "Sorry, I was just thinking." I grab some of the whip cream with my finger and plop it into my mouth. The gaze on his eyes return. He looks at my lips, and then back to my eyes.
"What are you thinking?"
"You really don't want to know."
I'm stupid. My lips part in shock when I finally realize. I didn't even think of the whipped cream thing being sexual, and the groan. But now the more I think of it, the more flushed my cheeks get, and the more I realize how sexual that did look and sound.
"Want my cherry?" Jake's voice snaps me back from my thoughts. I look down at my uneaten cherrie and back to the one he's offering me. I grin.
I love cherries.
And I forgot he didn't.
"I thought you loved them?" He asks. I didn't realize my quietness, was coming off as me turning it down.
"No, I mean yes I love them. And yes, I want your cherry."
He shakes his head amused, and picks the cherry up by the stem. Without thinking, because I never seem to, I open my mouth. His eyes darken when he notices.
I have now come to the conclusion, that this might seem inappropriate.
But it's fine.
Does this mean I'm seducing him?
I smirk at his glazed look. I am a great seducer then.
He puts the cherry in my mouth, leaving the stem out. I close my teeth around it and he pulls the stem, removing it from the cherry.
"Mmmm," I mumble. "I love cherries."
"Yea, I'm staring to too."
Before I can reply anything back, Nanna interrupts us with the check. "No rush darlings, Jacob I did give you a family discount. It's good to see you, it's been too long." We both smile and thank her.
I reach for the check the same time Jake does. "What are you doing?" He asks when I manage to grab it before him.
"Grabbing the check."
"Well don't, it's on me." He tries to take it from me, but I'm quick to pull away.
"No, it's on me."
"Come on Blair, I asked you on the date. Let me pay."
"Well, I technically asked you first." I say with a smirk. I am one smart cookie.
He groans, "Does it matter?"
"Yes," I said in a matter of factly tone. "Usually the person who asks the other on a date pays." Jake laughs and rolls his eyes. "Come on Jakey. Let me sugar mama you."
"You don't work." He points out. I stick out my tongue at him.
"You also don't work."
"I have a very large savings account."
"I'm paying."
"With what money?"
"With daddy's money." I grin. One thing I love to do is spend my fathers money.
"I also have daddy's money, Blair." I can tell that he is sensing defeat. I raise an eyebrow at him, not backing down. He lets out a sigh, "Fine."
A huge smile stretches across my face. I give myself a mental pat on the back. That's some girl boss shit.
I can tell he's still uncomfortable with me paying, so I let out a suggestion. "You can pay next time."
He smirks and raises an eyebrow. "Are you already asking me out on a second date? When our first one isn't even over...I thought there was a whole waiting three days thing..." I cut him off with a groan.
"You're so annoying..."
"...ly handsome. See look us, already finishing each other's sentences." I stick my tongue out at him and he sticks his out back.
"I hate you."
"No, you don't."
I laugh and roll my eyes at him. Our cute moment or whatever it was, then gets cut short.
All because I'm still bothered by what Nana said earlier.
"What did Nana mean, when she said she'd never thought someone would tie you down?" I ask.
