"Alpha and Luna of the Red Rose pack," My eyes dash up from her ankle to meet her eyes.
"What?" I ask, a small gasp escaping my lips.
"They were the Alpha and Luna of the Red Rose pack," She states again and I stare at her, shock and pain going through my body.
"Why do we learn all of this stuff? Can wounds really get this bad, and on so many wolves?" I question my mentor, having just completed my fifteenth stitch in the past ten minutes.
He looks down, his expression darkening.
"I'm not sure you will remember, you were a little young, but a while ago, the Red Rose pack, which had about nine hundred members, was attacked by someone unknown, that attack stuck with many of us, because the entire pack was wiped out in less than an hour, no survivors." He says, avoiding my eyes and instead focusing on something behind me.
"I think I do remember that. . " I say, trailing of slightly as I try to remember my parents talking about that in our kitchen one time.
"I remember my mother saying there was only one wolf that wasn't accounted for. ." I trail off.
"The Alpha and Luna's daughter, Eleanor, she is believably dead, just off of the pack grounds, the searches didn't have permission to look anywhere but the claimed territory.
"so they never found her?" I question, looking down at the stitch I had just done, making sure I didn't do it wrong.
"No," He says before his eyes follow to where I am looking.
"You don't double check your stitch work, we're starting back at zero," He states and I let out a quiet aggravated growl, earning a laugh from him.
"Come on, Lillian," He says, smiling at me.
"But. . " I trail off. "Eleanor Harthsbrook. . We thought you were dead, everyone did, every pack heard of the attack and you were presumed dead. . They captured you?" I question and she rolls her eyes before nodding.
"For thirteen years, I was in captive of that awful place," She growls, her eyes showing that she is reliving the memories.
"How did no one find you?"
"if only I knew," She growls.
"You haven't answered my question," She says, her eyes snapping back to look at me.
"I'm a runt, I shouldn't be healed," she states, "You may be a. . runt. . but you do have Alpha blood, I'm sure that that is the reason. Alpha blood is really strong and could easily out rule the runt genes," I say, watching as her eyes trail downwards.
"What about my emotions?" She asks, "Why can I still feel fear. It was supposed to be gone!" She screams, her head snapping up to look at me, her eyes showing anger and her face hardened.
"Why am I different!? Why do I still have this stupid emotion!? It's meant to be gone, I'm meant to not feel it! So why do I?" She yells, her voice softening with the last question.
"Eleanor. . " I say softly. "Look, I don't know the full extent of what happened to you for all of those years, but from what you told me. . I think the trauma you went through, all the pain, I think its made it so you can't remove your fear, I'm not sure how it's worked out that way, but it has."
"Well that's freaking brilliant, isn't it?" She says, laughing.
"I go to remove my fear and instead just remove happiness. I hate it though, you know it? Happiness is stupid, it doesn't last, something bad always fricks it up." She snarls.
"Not always," I say and she laughs.
"Well then you're awfully lucky huh? You haven't learned how awful the world is yet, just wait for your happy little bubble to pop." She says before turning in her heel, her air narrowly missing my face, before she storms out of the room.
Theodore wants to get her back. . He is going to have a really hard time with it. .
~Eleanor~
I walk outside and immediately run into something hard as I turn right.
I start to fall backwards but feel an arm wrap around my waist.
That odd. . There aren't any sparks-
I look up an see a very unfamiliar face.
I make eye contact with the male and he jumps slightly, apparently freaked by my eyes.
"Well, what do we have here?"
"Someone who doesn't feel like dealing with your crap," I growl, pushing on his arm with my hand.
"Whats a wolf like you doing by yourself?" He asks and I growls at him.
"I can take care of myself, I don't need someone to take care of me." I say and feel his arm tighten around my waist.
"You sure about that?" He asks with a smirk.
"Yeah, don't tick me off, you'll regret it," I snarl.
"I haven't seen a pretty wolf like you around here before," he says, ignoring my statement.
I growl at him and push at his arms again.
"Fine, you won't let me go, so don't say I didn't warn you," I say and he laughs.
"Like a girl could beat me-" I turn my body and slam my elbow into his jaw, I slam my foot down onto his foot before bringing my knee up to hit him where the sun doesn't shine.
"Son of a b-"
I twist around him once his arm is off of me and grab the arm he was holding me with, bringing it up against his back.
"What the heck is wrong with you!?" he yells. pulling against my grip.
I hear someone running up behind me and quickly turn around, letting go of the man.
Nightly runs pass me, grabbing the guy and shoving him against the wall before connecting his fist with his jaw.
"If you ever lay a hand on my mate again I will end you," Nightly growls, slamming him against the wall again.
"Wait. . That's the Luna!?" He asks, looking towards me again.
"What the heck is wrong with her eyes!?" he yells.
"Are you stupid, or have you never read a book before?" I ask and he growls at me.
"Books are stupid," He says and I growl.
"Say that one more time and you're dead," I growl.
"Wait. . If she's your mate then why was she alone?"
"Because, as was obviously shown, she can take care of herself." I smirk at the guy and he glares at me.
"Uh-uh, if you disrespect me, my mate might hurt you." I say with a laugh and Nightly looks at me weirdly.
He lets go of the guy who runs off towards the pack house.
"What?" I ask Nightly, who is staring at me with an odd look on his face.
"I've never heard you laugh before. . . "
I roll my eyes with a sigh.
"Oh, that's what this is about. So what?" I ask and he hesitates for a moment before a small smile graces his features.
"Nothing. Why don't I take you to the pack house to get some food? And we can also find you a room to stay in instead of the hospital."
"Uh. . okay?"
