I stared down at my phone, my mouth hanging open slightly. Yukio was in this hospital?
Rin
Yukio's in the hospital. His dorm caught on fire. Hurry here.
I bit my lip and tried to keep tears from spilling. Was he hurt? Is he going to live?
Swallowing my fear, I ran as fast as I could to the hospital, hoping Yukio would be alright.
When I entered the building, one of the nurses showed me where Yukio was staying.
When I saw him, I covered my mouth, tears making my vision swim.
He was asleep on his bed, cables hooked up to him, giving him different liquids. His body was burned badly and a nurse was bandaging him. A trash can was positioned next to his bed, evidence of vomit inside of it.
He let out a fit of coughs while he rested, and Rin stared down at the ground.
"Rin," I walked over to him, resting my hand on his arm. He looked at me. "What happened?"
"The police said that someone purposely lit his place on fire," Rin reported. "They found an empty box of matches a few feet away from the back of the building and footsteps all along the yard."
My phone buzzed with an incoming text and I pulled it out, my eyes absorbing every word.
Mom
I see you.
My heart pounded in my chest and I glanced around wildly. There were no windows, so that meant that my mother was in the hospital.
Rin glanced at me. "What are you doing?"
"Nothing," I said. "I'm going to go get a drink."
Rin nodded, walking over to a chair that was next to Rin's bed and sitting down, staring at his brother.
Once I was out of his vision, I dashed outside and around back, whipping out my phone.
Me
Where the fuck are you?!
It didn't take my mother that long to reply, probably since I hadn't texted her in forever.
Mom
Is that any way to speak to your mother?
I dialed her phone number and pressed my phone to my ear. She picked up almost instantly.
"Where the fuck are you, you crazy bitch?!" I screamed into the phone.
"Woah woah, calm down honey," The woman who I was forced to call my mother cooed. "You're lucky you're in public."
I started breathing heavily. "I said, where are you?!"
I heard footsteps walking to the back of the hospital. I looked up to see the disgusting woman. Long, black, stringy hair, pale skin, tiny black eyes, wrinkled face, evil smirk, and all.
She hung up the phone and put her wrinkly hand on her hip.
"Well if it isn't my runaway daughter."
"You are not my mother," I snarled.
"Now, now," she purred, stepping closer. "We haven't seen eachother in a while, and this is how you speak to me?"
I pressed my back against the hospital wall and glared at her as she stopped in front of me. She weaved her slender fingers through my hair.
"You sure are a little bitch," she hissed, jerking her hand. Pain instantly heated up my scalp and I let out a pained yelp, clawing her hand away.
"Get away from me, you fucking witch!" I screamed.
I ran towards the side of the building, only to be stopped by a tall, buff looking man. His brown hair was dirty and his face was covered in scars.
"Oh, look. It's a full family reunion."
