Isa was certain there was tension. Her breath got caught with every glance he sent to her lips making her heart beat at an unsteady pace.

But before he could lean down to her and do what she's only been imagining... someone or something always seemed to show up at the worst timing. She wondered if she saw the flicker of amusement in Shawn's eyes when her face turned into a scowl.

Giving his hand a squeeze, Isa bid her goodbyes before departing with Grace and David to their next class, her damper mood apparent.

"Isa, I've noticed your hundredth sigh, what's wrong?" Grace asked.

She sighed once more, "Nothinggg."

"Doesn't seem like nothing."

David fiddled with his camera, "Her and Shawn haven't kissed yet."

Isa's cheeks flared red, "Say it louder why don't you."

Grace widened her bright blue eyes, "You haven't?!"

"I don't understand why it's taking you guys so long." David muttered.

Isa narrowed her eyes at David, "Shut up Dave. You become a gibberish mess around girls you like."

"That's cause they find it cute." He fixed his collar on his jean jacket with a smirk.

"Name one girl that found you tripping over yourself with sweaty hands cute."

"A gentleman never tells."

"David." Isa scowled.

Grace waved her hands frantically, "Enough about David and his sweaty hands problem,"

"Hey!"

"I thought you guys were okay on your route of love." Grace fanned herself comically, "You haven't kissed yet? Isa, how long have you guys been dating?"

"A few weeks but-"

"A few weeks!?"

"Stoppp I'm already embarrassed as it is."

"Sorry. Sorry." Grace took a breath, "So... what's your take on it?"

David cleared his throat, "I'm gonna go this way. See you after class." With a wave, David left the two friends alone.

"Okay so," Isa started, "we come so close to kissing or at least it feels like it and something ALWAYS interrupts. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this. I'm about to blow a fuse." She rubbed her temples.

Grace rubbed her friend's shoulder in sympathy as they entered their next class, "I know how it is honey."

Isa glanced up in disbelief, "You do?"

Grace let an amused smile lift her lips, "Why the surprise?"

Isa took her seat, "Well because your relationships are always so perfect."

Grace giggled, "Not always. I waited almost two months for Thomas to kiss me."

Isa widened her eyes, "Well now I don't feel so bad."

"Don't. I just want you to be happy and he's a great guy, I'm just surprised he hasn't planted one on you with how he looks at you."

"Whatever." Isa let a small smile sneak past before quieting down as the teacher started her lesson.

"Is S3 ever a normal sound?" Austin read a loud from Grace's flash cards as her face twisted in concentration.

"Yes... but in children and young adults."

"Correct."

Grace let out a small 'yes' and waited as Austin placed the card aside. David rubbed his eyes tiredly as he continued to edit his project on his laptop while Isa made her own flash cards.

Checking the time on her phone, Yasmine tapped her pencil against her temple in thought. David shut his laptop and placed it aside, letting his head drop behind him on her bed with his eyes closed.

"How's it coming?" She asked him quietly as Austin quizzed Grace.

"You don't want to know." He grumbled.

"S4 is heard with what disease processes?"

Grace sucked in air, "Ummm... CAD,... Hypertension,... and Aortic Stenosis?"

"Correct."

"Oh thank god."

Austin chuckled at her behavior as he set the last card aside, "I think you'll be okay Grace. You got all your terms memorized."

David glanced over, "What about you, Matthews?"

Austin shrugged and shuffled his papers around, "Yeah I think I'll be alright. What about you, Isa?"

"Well flash cards are almost done but poster is still missing something." Pointing the eraser end of her pencil to her display board that was propped open on top her desk. "Maybe you guys could give some advise?"

Her three friends stood and took a look at her display board. She sat herself up on her bed and watched their thoughtful expressions cross their faces.

"So when is this due?" David questioned.

"Well he actually changed it to the end of the quarter."

They nodded and stared more at her board.

"Anything?"

Hearing all soft no's and apologizes, she waved her hand dismissively, "Its okay. I have the rest of the quarter to figure it out."

A ding rang out in the room, catching Isa's attention with a text alert lighting up her phone.

Shawn ☺️:
Hey, I got a tune I want to run by you

"Hey so is everyone okay with this study session?" Isa asked, pocketing her phone.

"Was that Shawn?" Grace asked with a knowing smile.

Isa rolled her eyes and smiled back, "Yes it was."

"Yeah, I gotta start packing for winter break but next session my dorm?"

"Sounds good."

"Come on Austin, lets go to the school coffee shop." Grace said, packing away her things.

Austin quickly packed away his backpack with a pink tint to his cheeks that Isa noted.

"Oh! Isa here, catch." Tossing Isa a small tube of chapstick, oatmeal watermelon flavored. "Just in case." She winked and left with Austin in tow.

"One can hope." She muttered and quickly applied it to her lips.

Yasmine clutched her jacket as the icy wind blew, biting at her face. Pushing the double doors open, she sighed in relief at the warm embrace from the cold wind.

Her feet tapped the steps as she jogged up the stairs to the music room. It was the first that Isa was ever in the music room. Her presence always outside waiting for Shawn to emerge.

A gold plaque was drilled into the front door that was labeled 'Advanced Music'. She turned the handle gently and let herself in, taking in the grand appearance of the room.

Trophies and ribbons lined the top of the walls, going around the room. Instruments of all types lay set up or in cases behind glass doors. Isa's eyebrows lifted up, her face in awe.

"I take it, you like the set up."

She spun to Shawn's voice with a bashful smile, "Shawn this is really beautiful. Almost makes me want to learn an instrument."

He laughed and opened up a nearby piano, "I don't know a lot but I know enough to give a few tips." He played a string of keys with a steady melody.

Taking a seat next to him, Isa placed her hands on the crisp keys.

"Okay so we'll start with one hand and I'll do the other notes on my side. This one is pretty easy cause the notes are all generally in the same area. Also I'm sure you'll like the song."

Isa giggled, "Okay."

As he guided her through the keys, she found herself keeping up with his teaching. Her fingers stretching to the different keys and black notes. He praised her quietly, watching her concentrate on her hand movement, memorized by her.

Shawn pressed his side of the keys in perfect sync with hers, drawing out a beautiful tune that filled the quiet room. Pressing down on the last note, Isa blinked as if she was brought out of a trance.

"That was beautiful." She murmured.

"I knew you would like it."

She brushed her hand over Shawn's, his fingers intertwining with hers. She looked at him through her lashes, giving him a shy but inviting look that he couldn't resist.

She watched as his lips descended onto hers, her heart beating loudly in her ears as her eyes fluttered closed, seeking out his taste.

And she wondered... how did this man from the coffee shop have her so dizzy and so head over heels?

Then he kissed her. His lips slow and searching. A certain longing that ached inside her as she reached for him, placing her arms around his neck loosely.

Pulling apart with a smack, she breathed in deeply as a smile crept onto his face. It tasted of fresh coffee and watermelon and it was the sweetest flavor she had ever tasted.

And the ones after were even sweeter.
