san looked at wooyoung in awe, blinking rapidly to make sure he was actually awake and not imagining things.
"what did you say?" he asked, holding his breath. wooyoung raised his head to look at san. his eyes were shining with tears and he swallowed hard before speaking, "please, san. i don't want you to leave" he said, voice wavering.
that was all it took. although wooyoung had hurt san and often confused him, just knowing that wooyoung was sincere and honest this time was all san needed. he jumped out of bed and eagerly wrapped his arms around wooyoung, pulling him into a tight hug.
"i'm not going anywhere" san murmured into wooyoung's hair as he rubbed wooyoung's back soothingly, "i promise".
"aren't you mad at me?" wooyoung asked in a small voice, "i'm a terrible person". san frowned and pulled away from the hug to cup wooyoung's face.
"you're not a terrible person" san reassured, "and i could never be mad at you. i was upset but i wasn't mad at you". he wiped a tear away before it fell, "why are you crying?".
wooyoung looked away, "you're too forgiving" he muttered, "you're honestly telling me we're all good now?".
san smiled and let out a small chuckle, "we're good. as long as you don't push me away for no reason anymore". wooyoung nodded and stepped back, "i should probably go. i told everyone i went to the bathroom so..." he turned around and awkwardly headed to the door.
"wait" san grabbed wooyoung's arm and turned him around so they were face-to-face. he gave wooyoung a dazzling smile before using his pointer finger to lift up wooyoung's chin and capture his lips into a kiss.
after a few seconds, san pulled away, "now you can go" he whispered, feeling proud when he saw how flustered wooyoung had gotten. he watched wooyoung disappear out of the room and back into the hallway, a warm, fuzzy feeling blooming in his chest.
he was so totally head over heels in love with wooyoung, it wasn't even funny.
"hey. we're all in the living room. are you gonna join us?" seonghwa popped his head into the room. san had spent the afternoon resting, understandably so considering the events that played out earlier that day. he had planned on staying in the room until the next day but since wooyoung came into his room, he's been wanting to see him again.
"sure" san smiled and climbed out of bed. heading into the room, he could hear the lively chatter of his friends. his eyes immediately locked onto wooyoung, who was sitting a bit away from the others.
"san's here" seonghwa announced as he joined the group on the floor. jongho looked up at san with an apologetic look on his face, "san, i'm really sorry. i didn't know your fear of heights was that bad".
san shook his head, "you don't need to apologize, it's not your fault". jongho shot him a grateful smile, "what are we doing?" san asked.
yunho shrugged, "it's too late to go out. i thought we could play card games or something". yeosang made a disgusted face, "card games? what are we, fifty? let's play truth or dare!".
"like that's any better" seonghwa rolled his eyes, "we're not in highschool either".
"truth or dare sounds kinda fun" san admitted. he looked over at wooyoung and nudged his head to indicate for him to sit with him.
"why were you sitting by yourself?" san asked low enough for only wooyoung to hear while the others argued about what they were going to do. wooyoung just shrugged and looked away. san frowned. as much as he wanted to spend time with wooyoung, he had hoped that wooyoung would open up and become close with his friends as well.
"we're playing truth or dare" yeosang announced, smiling victoriously. he darted his eyes to yunho, "truth or dare?".
"uh...truth, i guess" yunho answered.
"who's the best looking person here?" yeosang asked while jokingly batting his eyelids. yunho scoffed, "none of you. you're all ugly".
"come on, yunho. that's not a real answer" seonghwa chided, "just be honest and say that it's me".
yunho let out a laugh, "dude, you're like, the last on the list". jongho leaned forward, "oh, so you have a list?" he smiled teasingly.
"what? no—i was just saying that. anyways," yunho looked around the room, "if i have to pick someone, i'll go with...wooyoung".
wooyoung's eyes widened in surprise and the group let out collective gasps. san couldn't help but feel a sting. he liked that wooyoung was getting complimented but he didn't like the fact that it was yunho complimenting him. in fact, san didn't want anyone but himself to compliment wooyoung. perhaps he had a jealousy issue.
"yeah, yeah. whatever" yunho waved off everyone's reactions dismissively, "wooyoung, truth or dare?" he asked, turning to wooyoung.
"dare" wooyoung answered quietly. yunho tapped his chin and looked up while thinking, "hmm, i dare you to camp outside alone tonight".
"yunho" san warned. "what?" yunho shrugged, unfazed. "it's just one night".
"yeah, but we're in a forest. there's bugs and animals and all kinds of things out there" jongho interjected, "give him a break".
yunho crossed his arms stubbornly, "i don't get what the big deal is. he'll literally be in the yard".
"i'll do it" wooyoung said quietly. "you don't have to" seonghwa said and wooyoung shrugged, "i never went camping before, it might be fun".
san pursed his lips in frustration, "i'll go with wooyoung" he declared and yunho looked at him, "you can't" he insisted, "the dare is for wooyoung to do it alone" he emphasized the alone.
san opened his mouth to argue but wooyoung beat him to it, "it's fine. i can do it by myself" he smiled but san could tell wooyoung was nervous. he had never done it before and even though san would be able to keep an eye on wooyoung, he still felt uneasy about the whole thing.
"fine. but i'll help you set up" san's voice softened as he spoke to wooyoung.
"doesn't matter to me. as long as you leave right after" yunho said bluntly, "but you better go now, the sun's about to go down".
san glared an yunho but nonetheless got up and headed towards the hallway to grab the camping supplies with wooyoung following closely behind.
"so stupid" san grumbled while grabbing a tent. "maybe i should set it up" he heard wooyoung say behind him.
"do you want to?" san asked, "i mean, the whole camping thing. i can just tell yunho-"
"i can do it" wooyoung interrupted, "i want to do it" he said, a bit slowly and unsure. san sighed, as much as he loved yunho as his friend, he was really starting to get on his nerves.
"and just secure that corner" san pointed at a stake that was a bit loose. wooyoung promptly hit down the stake with the hammer so it became secure.
"there's blankets, food, water, and a lamp with extra batteries. do you need anything else?" san asked. wooyoung shook his head, "i think i'm good". san knew it was time for him to go back in the cabin but he really didn't want to.
"are you sure? i can sneak out later and stay with you" san offered, secretly hoping wooyoung would take him up on the offer.
wooyoung laughed and placed a hand on san's shoulder, "stop worrying. i'll be perfectly fine". san glanced at the cabin, checking the windows to see if anyone was looking out.
"alright. but if you need anything, call me" san grabbed wooyoung's hand that was on his shoulder and pressed a kiss onto it.
"go" wooyoung gently pushed san away but san didn't miss how red wooyoung's face had become.
"okay, okay" san laughed, "love you" he smiled before heading inside.
