there are many moments in his life where san considered himself happy. he was happy when he graduated college, he was happy when he got his first job, he was happy with his friends - even living with seonghwa although he drove him crazy most of the time. overall, san has had a happy life, but nothing could describe the overwhelming happiness he felt with wooyoung laying in his arms.
he never imagined he could feel this way towards someone. it's like wooyoung entered san's life exactly when he needed him. it's not to say that san wasn't doing fine before wooyoung, but he didn't have that complete feeling he feels now. it felt weird to admit, but san found himself feeling more for wooyoung than he has ever felt for jiyeon in the four years they had been together.
but did that make him a bad person? san knew the second he felt butterflies around wooyoung that he had to break up with jiyeon. he wasn't going to be that type of person, jiyeon didn't deserve that. san didn't know how to break up with her, he never broke up with anyone before so he was bound to mess up. and mess up, he sure did. jiyeon was patient, although not the most understanding, she always gave san chances when he blew her off. san didn't know the exact moment he fell out of love with jiyeon, but he knew their relationship was starting to feel like a chore. san had never ditched his friends to spend time with jiyeon ever, but he dropped them in an instant for wooyoung. there was a clear difference between jiyeon and wooyoung and it was that san chose wooyoung. san wanted wooyoung. san would do anything for wooyoung. but san couldn't do that for jiyeon.
the movie was nearing the end and wooyoung hadn't said much or had even eaten since the beginning. san turned his head over to find wooyoung fully nestled, his head resting on san's chest and his arm wrapped on san's torso. san let out a small giggle upon realizing wooyoung had fallen asleep.
san brushed away the strands of hair that had fallen in front of wooyoung's face and gazed at him. there was something calming about watching wooyoung sleep, he seemed so peaceful and it gave time for san to fully admire all of wooyoung's features. from his eyes to his nose to his lips. to san, wooyoung was truly beautiful.
san's buzzing phone pulled him away from his admiring. he groaned slightly as he turned to stretch his free arm out to grab his phone.
"what is it?" san grumbled, keeping his voice low to not wake wooyoung up.
"where the fuck have you been?" seonghwa's infuriated voice boomed through the phone and san had to glance over to make sure wooyoung was still asleep. san clicked his tongue. he was expecting this, of course, since they had ridden together.
"i'm with wooyoung right now" san murmured, his hand softly petting wooyoung's hair.
"that chef?" seonghwa asked, surprised, "what's with you and him anyways?". san knitted his eyebrows together, "what do you mean?".
seonghwa huffed, "you literally have never talked about him ever and all of a sudden he shows up during our hang out day and then you ditch us for him. what's the deal with that?".
"there is no deal. and i don't have to tell you about every aspect of my life. he's my friend, what's your deal?".
seonghwa was silent for a moment, "whatever. a heads up would be nice next time and would it kill you to let me know where you are instead of making me all worried?". san rolled his eyes, "i never asked you to worry about me, i can take care of myself".
seonghwa let out a deep sigh, "i only worry because i care. are you coming home soon?".
"no" san responded hesitantly, "i'll come back tomorrow".
knowing seonghwa, san expected a sleuth of questions but it seemed whatever seonghwa was going to say, he decided against it. "okay, see you" was all he said before ending the call.
san no longer felt wooyoung in his arms and looked back next to him to see wooyoung sitting up straight with a horrified look on his face.
"you're awake" san smiled and wooyoung only widened his eyes more.
san frowned and placed an hand on wooyoung's arm, causing him to startle, "are you okay?". wooyoung blinked a few times before looking at san, his cheeks flushing slightly. "yeah. i didn't mean to fall sleep, sorry".
san couldn't help but smile at wooyoung's embarrassed expression. he took both of his hands and playfully squished wooyoung's cheeks, "do you have any idea how adorable you are?".
"stop it" wooyoung mumbled, his cheeks flushing deeper. san laughed and let go, "are you still tired?".
wooyoung nodded and looked at san, "you must be exhausted. we can go to sleep i don't think there's anything to do anyways".
san stayed sat on the couch while wooyoung got up to head towards his bedroom, "are you not coming?" wooyoung asked when he noticed san wasn't following him.
san scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. sure, the last time he slept over he shared the bed with wooyoung but wooyoung didn't know that. "are you comfortable with me sleeping with you?".
"why wouldn't i be? i don't have any other beds and you can't sleep on the couch" wooyoung said all of that like it wasn't a big deal but san could tell from the way wooyoung wouldn't meet his gaze that he was nervous.
"are you sure? i can sleep here, it's not a big deal-" san's eyes widened as wooyoung stomped over and grabbed onto san's arm, pulling him to his room.
"you can sleep on that side" wooyoung pointed to the right side of the bed while he got in from the left side, shuffling towards the edge of the bed with his back facing the other side. san stood dumbfounded before turning off the light and getting in the bed.
"there's a lot of room, wooyoung. you're gonna fall off" san reached out and pulled wooyoung in closer by his waist. wooyoung stiffened but didn't make any attempts to remove san's hands so san took that as a sign and pulled wooyoung even closer and nuzzled his head in wooyoung's neck.
"you have three bedrooms but only one of them has a bed?" san muttered. wooyoung seemed to be getting comfortable and relaxed his shoulders, "it's only me here, there's no need to bring in more beds".
san chuckled softly. "then why have such a big place?" he mused, tightening his hold around wooyoung. wooyoung shrugged and began to trace his fingers against san's hands, "i guess i never thought about it".
the tiredness from the day caught up with san and he found his eyelids fluttering shut, "don't you get lonely here by yourself?" he asked while letting out a yawn. "sometimes" wooyoung replied softly.
san hugged wooyoung tighter and pressed a soft kiss on his cheek, "i'm here now. i won't let you be lonely anymore".
wooyound didn't respond, he must've fell asleep. san smiled to himself as he closed his eyes and allowed himself to sleep.
this was true happiness and san hoped for many more days like this.
