Sophie's pov

I had been minding my business with my EarPods in, trying to block the voices when Max, Jamie and Jared decided to make my life miserable. They were your typical bullies who think they're better than you and to be honest.. they probably were..

I was startled out of my thoughts when the pile of books I was carrying was knocked out of my hands and sent crashing to the ground, i tripped over the books and fell onto my knees.

The pain was subtle but it still hurt. Jared, Jamie and Max all started laughing as i picked up my books. Jared and Jamie started kissing as max taunted me with insults.

"Whats wrong brainiac? Cant calculate how to pick up your books?" Max cackled as i picked up my books with a few traitorous tears. 

I wasnt brimming with tears because the insults, i was because of his thoughts. He was thinking about how bad my family must feel for having a child who was such a weirdo. The worst part was it was true! I had heard my family' thoughts and they are always wishing i was like Amy...  

I had just finished stacking the first 3 books when a girl with dark chocolate skin and golden eyes knelt down and picked up the rest for me, she looked about 13 maybe 14 so probably a first or second year. 

"Thank you" I stuttered, i expected her to snort or throw my books but instead she handed them back to me and smiled.

"No problem! Im hazel and thats leo," she  turned around and pointed to a short elvish boy with chocolate hair and burnt skin, he looked about 16? he must be leo. And he was currently throwing so many insults at Jared Jamie and Max that Max would be proud....if he wasn't the one receiving the insults

"Do you seriously have nothing better to do then tease people who are better than you? Or do you not have the brain capacity for actually getting on her level?" He chided right in Max's face.

I winced as i got ready to see Leo either get beaten up or humiliated in front of the crowd that was forming.

"You better watch what your saying and know your place punk." Jared growled, i thought leo would back away or something but he slapped him across the face and said something in another language and walked over to us. Jamie had to hold jared back from killing Leo!

"Oh god thanks!" I blurted as he walked over to me and hazel. "They are pretty chill with most of the other students but since I'm so young the students tend to pick on me" 

"No prob, they really are ανόητοι." He muttered as he glared at Max and Jared, 

One thing about hazel and leo made me very on edge. I couldn't hear their voices? I didn't notice it at first when max was cackling and everyones thoughts were yelling but now the hall was vacant except for Leo me and Hazel and i couldn't hear anything except their plain old talking!

Just then a group of preschoolers ran bye with their supervisor, they would often use the library since the preschool didn't have one so they were probably heading their. I immediately winced in pain and plugged my ears hoping the voices would stop but as usual they didnt. Toddlers voices were the worst! It felt like pins and needles were being dug into my brain. 

"Are you ok?" Hazel worried, i suppose i wasn't making much of an effort to hide it but i was kinda surprised she cared nobody ever cared except my old neighbour mr.forkle and my parents.

"Oh im fine, just a headache." I quickly quipped and dug out a tylenol and downed a pill. My parents had boughten them for me when the headaches really started spiking.

"Yet you carry around tylenol to subside the pain? Is it usual?" Leo frowned

"Oh yeah I've been getting them since i was 6 and they only have been getting worse." I said hurriedly before tucking the bottle back into my backpack and called "I've gotta go, lunch is in a few minutes and i wanna beat the rush!" As i jogged off
