Hey lovelies!

This chapter has lots of info though it's mostly dialogue. This is the turning point of the story because Fay and Seth are stepping into the role of main characters. Evelyn and Shawn are still an important part of the story though.

Likes and comments make my day and (I'm not going to lie) inspire me to write more and faster.

Once again: words in bold are spoken into a mate's mind.

Yours,

Seth held Fay close to him as they exited her office building and started to walk down the busy Park Avenue. His arm was around her shoulder and he tightly squeezed her arm. He was filled with a strong sense of fullness he had never got to experience before. They moved in sync as they passed people. Seth could've sworn their heartbeat was in sync too.  His most trusted men, Wilson and Lounge, were only a couple feet behind. Just when they were about to cross the street, Fay stopped.

"What is it?" Seth asked. He didn't think she would try to escape now, but a sense of restlessness washed over him. Fay shook her head and gently squeezed his hand. The wolf in her sensed Seth's restlessness. Her touched relaxed him.

"Before you came... I wasn't paying attention because there was a Raven nearby. In the opposite building from my office. And he had Serafina," she said. Seth didn't look alarmed and not even surprised and that made Day frown.

"Wh- You already knew?" she asked.

"Yes. The boy came to me a couple of weeks ago. He offered me his services," Seth said but Fay felt he wasn't telling her everything.

"And?" Fay demanded. Seth chuckled and tapped her nose with a tip of his finger. He chuckled some more when Fay pushed his finger away.

"He offered me his services because he is my little sister's mate."

"What? How can a Raven be a wolf's mate?" Fay asked eyes wide.

The two wolf males behind them let out a silent laugh. Fay turned her head to them. Wilson and Lounge had been Seth's close friends even before Fay left the pack. She had known them quite well.

"What's so funny?" she asked.

"Nothing," Seth answered quickly and shot a warning look to the men.

"Clearly nothing," Fay murmured. They started walking again and crossed the street. "I can feel your irritation," she continued. Seth sighed.

"Fine. Let's just say, my sister, who by the way changed her name to Shay, just to piss off mother,  is not very excited about the fact that a sixteen-year-old boy turns out to be her mate. And this sixteen-year-old boy happens to use his Raven powers to keep his wolf side in check. So he doesn't have to feel the mate bond, but she does. And he likes to mess with her."

"So... he is a Raven and a wolf?"

"Your special little friend isn't the only half wolf around."

"Huh. Well, your special little brother is an asshole for forcefully taking Evelyn," Fay felt the anger and disappointment taking over the mate bond bliss. She had lost to Shawn and Seth. Her life was about to become what she hated. A mate to an alpha. Maybe she would become like Elise Cage.

"Hey, stop that," Seth said, nearly using his alpha command.

"Stop what, Seth?" Fay snapped. She tried to shook off his grip on her arm but it only got tighter.

"You are filling your mind with bad thoughts. I can't read your mind but I sure as hell know you're trying to block the mate pull," he spoke into her mind. "So stop it."

"This thing," Fay motioned her hand between her and Seth, "won't change who I am."

"You are my mate," Seth said trying to calm Fay down.

"I am a protector," she hissed. This time she slapped his hand off which made Seth's nostrils flare and jaw clench.

"Do you think I don't know that? Fuck! I've known that since the day you and your father stepped your feet on my father's land. You keep telling it over and over again. It's like a chip on your shoulder and it's so god damn annoying!"

"Excuse me, alpha. It's a little bit more than a "chip on my shoulder". Fay made quotation marks with her fingers. "It's my des-"

"Yeah yeah, your destiny. Well, let me tell you something little Miss Irish Wold Blood, you are so fucking narrow-minded."

"What! I'm narrow-minded!? I am narrow-minded! Take a look at yourself, you sexist bigot, "Fay was fuming.

"Hey, guys... Maybe we should go somewhere private. You're making a scene."

"Shut up, Lounge!" Fay and Seth yelled at the same time. Lounge raised his hands in surrender and stepped away.

"Get the car," Seth said using his Alpha voice. Lounge nodded and left quickly leaving behind Wilson and the two mates filled with ten years of anger and hurt. Boy was he glad to get away from them.

People gave them strange looks but none stopped to find out what was going on.

"Since my protector here wants to make a scene, let's make one hell of a scene," Seth growled and walked to Fay who was backing away. Her back hit the brick wall of a building. Seth was so close that he could see his breath moving Fay's hair that had escaped from her ponytail.  He placed his hands against the wall on both sides of her head. Fay stared into his eyes, challenging his dominance.

"You called me a sexist bigot," he spoke in a low voice.

Fay answered with raising her left eyebrow.

"Why didn't I mark you?" now Seth was challenging her, "Why didn't I come and get you right away when you came to New York? Huh? Why Fay?"

Fay blinked. Seth's breath on her cheek had an effect on her body. He knew it so Fay didn't see any use in hiding it. She forced her mind to work.

"Maybe you're like that sixteen-year-old and you like messing with me," she was able to mutter.

"No Fay. I'm not a boy. I have another question. Why haven't I used my Alpha power on you? I could easily make you do what I want, but I'm not doing it. Why is that?"

Fay didn't have an answer to that. What she did have was a rapid heartbeat. Though there was still a storm in Seth's eyes, he put his hand on her chest, against her heart.  He took a deep breath and a small smile appeared on his lips.

"I didn't bite your neck, because I know to you it's not a sign of love and loyalty. I would and will never do that to you. I don't want you to feel like there's a sign of oppression on your body. You're not my slave," he spoke. I small glimpse of mischief flickered in his eyes as he continued. "But I am your slave. And I can't wait for you to make me do things to you."

A giddy laugh escaped Fay's lips. Her stair wasn't challenging anymore.

"It still doesn't change the fact that I want more from my life than just being someone's mate," she sighed.

"And you are still narrow-minded," he smiled. He lifted his hand to her cheek and marveled at her beauty.  "You were born to protect. Would you protect me and my pack?"

Fay's eyes widened. The great alpha of the East was asking her to protect him.

So... What do you think? Do you like Seth? Is he "worthy" of Fay? And vice versa!

If you've read Fay (the prequel), what do you think the reunion with the ice queen will be like? If you haven't checked it out, do it! :)
