"Yeah, never call me that again. It sounds like I'm some lad who thinks with his dick." She said with a scrunch at her face visibly shaking a shiver away making the boy laugh. She began to edge away back to her table shooting the boy one last grin.
"Bye big D!" She heard his voice behind her making her throw him a finger walking away with a laugh needing to escape the shit escaping Oliver's mouth. She hadn't expected Oliver to ask her to the dance and the further she walked away the more it dawned on her. She was going to the dance with probably the most popular boy in the school and she hadn't even meant for it to sound like a date.
She was royally screwed.
—------------------------
"So you're going on a date that isn't a date? How does that even make any sense?" Alex started with a furrow of his brow as he casually spread across the beanbags up in the attic. Once Danielle had finished school she immediately found herself back at the place which seemed like second nature.
Apparently Julie had finished her classes earlier so had already spread the news about the upcoming performance so she had just expected the group to be practising all afternoon so they would be fully prepared.
Each of the boys greeted her with joy but it was all cut off quickly as Alex had announced they needed 'boy chat'. She didn't particularly get a chance to say anything in agreement or protest so was instead grabbed by the arm and dragged up to Julie's attic which the garage held.
"Wait, you're going on a date?" Screams filtered from Danielle and Alex's mouth as Luke poofed immediately beside the two with an alarmed face. Calming her nerves with a hand on her heart she sent the concerned shaggy haired brunette a glare, not particularly appreciating the fright he had given them.
"No, no I'm not. But that's none of your business as you weren't supposed to be listening." She pronounced her words harshly wagging a finger in the brunette's face which was quickly swatted away amusedly. He knew she was right, but the moment he heard that phrase leave Alex's mouth he knew he needed to know more.
"But Alex just said you were?" He said glancing between the two of them sat on bean bags relaxing slightly more than he was a few moments prior finding out that his initial thoughts may be wrong.
"Yeah he did, I just got asked to the dance by someone at school but it's not a date." She said with a small laugh relaxing back into her seat keeping her eyes trained on the boy wearing a beanie. Realisation dawned on him slightly making him let out a forced laugh causing the girl's eyes to squint slightly with amusement. "Is somebody jealous? Aw Lukey."
"Don't call me that." He said with an attempted frown which looked more like a suppressed laugh at the girls teasing. Before the two of them could carry on teasing each other Alex caught them off guard by yelling out harshly not appreciating the disruption Luke had caused.
"Luke we are talking about something important, so would you please stop flirting and taking away Danielles attention and get out of here." He said with a serious expression as he faced Luke who immediately raised his hands in defeat. He glanced at Danielle who gave him a smug expression causing him to roll his eyes before poofing back to where him and Reggie had been practising.
"Finally I never thought he'd leave." Danielle let out a small smile showing how she was joking, making Alex snicker slightly glad that his friend had given him space to talk to Danielle because right now he really needed it.
"Hey I heard that!" Luke's protest went over the twos head as Danielle fully faced the blonde who had a heartstruck look on his face making her facial features soften.
"You really like him huh?" Alex turned startled towards her as her soft words made their way over to him. It felt weird for someone to say it out loud but he also really liked it because, yes, he really did like Willie.
"Yeah I think so. I mean he took us to this art museum today and it's just so easy with him. I mean he has amazing hair and he can skate. But then I don't even know if he likes me, what if he's not...." Alex let his insecurities get the best of him as his feelings were taking a rollercoaster of emotions. Danielle could see the internal conflict the boy was facing and she felt more than sympathetic for the boy.
"You like a skater boy? Nice choice. Also you never know until you try, seriously what is there to worry about." Danielle tried to comfort but her words only caused Alex's frown to increase, making her smile filter away from her face. She knew she wasn't the best at comforting but right now she was racking her brain for anything she could say to make him feel better.
"Alex everything will be fine, you find him cute and I can guarantee he finds you more than cute." She says making a smile line Alex's mouth whereas Daniell begins to frown at her words. "I don't think I've ever said cute so much in my life, remind me to never use the word again."
"He is really cute, and kind. I mean he's had to deal with my insistent questions, I genuinely don't think I would have ever grasped this ghost thing without him." Blush creeped at his cheeks as he relayed more details about the mysterious skater boy. Danielles heart warmed at the sight loving to see one of her friends getting something nice for once, she can understand how shit it would have been to be gay 25 years ago and now he can just be who he wants with no judgement.
"He's amazing even if he is very different from my past relationship." Alex lets out a chuckle as he faces the girl in front of him. His statement perked her attention as she sat more upright raising her brows with a smirk wanting to hear more.
"Do tell. Leave no details." She said with seriousness making the boy's grin widen, visibly finding amusement at the secret he was holding away from her.
"He wasn't too bad but me and Luke were just meant to be friends." Alex said with a smirk at Danielle's grin fell to one of disbelief. She couldn't be too sure if she had misheard him because that was the last thing she had expected to leave his lips.
"Wait what? Hold up... you and Luke?" She said pointing down below the attic to make sure they were talking about the same Luke making Alex nod with a snuffled laugh. "Wow, that was really unexpected."
"Don't worry though, I'm not mad. You two were made for eachother, everyone can see it. Just try to look past the whole dead thing." His words made her cough on her own breath, having received too many unexpected sentences breaching Alex's mouth. Cheeks immediately turning crimson, she stuttered on her own words with a laugh trying to brush away the comment.
"Yeah, there is nothing there, it couldn't happen. The laws of physics speak highly against it all." shifting uncomfortably with Alex's amused stare trained on the side of her head as she looked anywhere but him.
"Trust me he likes you. Luke has always been the biggest flirt when he likes someone and it's also painfully annoying watching him do it. Trust me I would know. He even seems to like you more than his music which was inevitably what drew us two apart." he said with a thoughtful expression trying to convey the truth behind his words to the clueless girl.
"Well I don't know what to tell you because I don't like him." defiantly she got up from her seated position ready to rejoin the group downstairs for important rehearsals, this performance was more important than her apparent love life.
"You're just as bad as each other, you don't even realise you're doing it." He said with a laugh as he followed the girl down to the main level with a huge grin plastered on his face. Their arrival caught the rest of the group's attention who muttered complaints about them taking so long making the girl roll her eyes at their impatience.
"We weren't even 5 minutes so quit your whinings." she mused to the others as she and Alex made themselves to the edge of the sofa where the group were sitting.
"What were you talking about?" Reggie threw out to the two stood shoulder to shoulder, attention perked as he let his nosy side out.
"Just talking about Danielle and-" a hand quickly clamped across Alex's mouth as Danielle showed a nervous smile to the others, rather keeping their conversation to themselves.
"nothing!"
