The clashing sounds of swords can be heard from far away....The galloping of horses and trumpet of elephants can be heard from outside....roars of soldiers in pain and anger made the Atmosphere ,an uncomfortable one.....
Lying on the bed inside her locked chamber, Panchali,the princess of panchal got distressed....her country..... her beloved father , brother and sister is fighting for their mother country and she is locked inside her chamber..she too is a warrior but her valour was closed inside the four walls of her chamber.... Panchali closed her eyes in agony ...
it has been 1 year since she appeared from the holy fire ..... none of them had seen her except members in palace and vasudeva krishna, king of dwarka... even the subjects of panchal had know only one thing that they have a fire born princess Panchali, the twin of prince drishtadyumn....
everything was fine and serene hours before....she was happily chatting and playing with her new friend Malini ,but suddenly she heard the sounds of conches blowing and suddenly her sister shikhandini locked her inside her chamber.... now it has been hours and it was almost midnight...the war is still going on...she didn't know with whom they are fighting with ...but she only knew that it's not a common fight...it's a war !!!!
Panchali slowly got down from the bed.....her long black tresses touching her knees was opened ....the curls on the two sides of face ,danced in wind...her lotus eyes carried pain and strokes of tears adorned her soft cheeks....her juicy pink lips was a sight to behold...is now shivering....
She , Panchali,the epitome of beauty,looked perfect and flawless even without any jewelry or makeup ,still emitted shine and glow from her own body, slowly walked towards the window to take a look at the scenerio happening outside....
" Rajkumari..." She abruptly stopped hearing the sound from behind....she looked behind to saw her waiting maid standing there bowing her head down...
" Rajkumari... Rajkumari shikhandini has strictly ordered me to make sure that you won't go to doors or windows to look at or to open...." her daasi said , Panchali looked at her in a confusing expression..
" Why ? And with whom they are fighting with?" Panchali asked innocently while closing the curtains of her grand window...
" It's the army of King jarasandh rajkumari" the maid replied leaving Panchali confused
" Who is jarasandh? Why is he attacking us?" She asked sitting on the bed
" I don't know the reason rajkumari... But I know this much that he is very dangerous and if he wants anything ,he will attain it by any cost..I just pray that he don't see you " the daasi said and Panchali worriedly looked at her....

Here at the battlefield ,
Jarasandh has already captivated the king of Panchal, maharaj drupad...
Jarasandh made drupad surrender by arresting him....
" Where is your daughter yagyaseni...I've heard that she is so beautiful that even apsaras from heavens will get jealous on her.....get her marry to me... then I'll leave your country and you " jarasandh said with a smirk
" No..never I'll ...I'll never get my daughter marry to you....even if you kill me...I'll never..." Drupad said with rage
Jarasandh came forward and was about to slap drupad ..he saw a shadow near the window on the top floor of the palace.....
Jarasandh ordered his soldiers to surround palace and captivate all women inside the palace... drupad who had heard it shouted....
" Run putri....run for your life....for your pithasree's sake...run "
Jarasandh suddenly turned towards Drupad and gave him a tight slap...he fell on the ground....
Drauni who had heard it ... immediately ran from there....

Back at the palace,
The door of panchali's chamber was flinched open and she saw drauni , son of guru dron, standing there with a sword which is red due to blood standing at the door side...as guru dron is dear friend of druapad, drauni and Dronacharya were always there to help them....
" Why ? What happened mitra...is everything fine...where is jiji? Is pithasree ok?" As she got up ,She Started shooting questions at him...
" It's not the time to ask questions mythri...we have to go...jiji and drisht was waiting for your..." He said in one go ... she looked at her maid ....
" Waiting.. Where??" She asked
" I'll tell you but before that we have to get out from here... jarasandh has seized our palace... I've almost evacuated all the women and children from the palace...if he caught you ...I can't even imagine..he had already heard about you and now he us obsessed with fire born princess...." Drauni said with a Disgust
" What about pithasree then mitra?" She asked ...horror shadowed over her beautiful face...
" He...he got captivated by jarasandh..",his face fell and head bend down as he said it...
Tears cascaded down through her rosy cheeks....she stood there froze..
" Pithasree" a mere whisper escaped from her mouth...
" Come on its time.." drauni said and in a second,he grabbed panchali's hand ...he said something to her daasi too, probably the way to ran from here...but she didn't heard anything as her mind was restless thinking about her father..
Drauni almost dragged her outside the chamber... within this time , soldiers already surrounded the palace... Drauni slowly sneeked inside a small chamber which is situated at the end of an empty corridor of the palace,on ground floor...
He went inside with her and removed the carpet from the floor and Panchali saw another door on the floor!
Her eyes widened in shock...it's one year since she is here in palace..but she never noticed this chamber and this secret door....
Drauni touched the door and chanted something and yeah!! The door opened... Panchali looked ahead curiously to see a tunnel with steps inside it....
" Come..."drauni took a lamp stick from the wall and asked Panchali to follow him...she followed him where he led her through...and finally after walking for half an hour,they reached at the banks of charmanwathi river....
Panchali's eyes glistened with tears as she saw sikhandini and drishtadyumn standing there ....she ran towards them and hugged them...
" Jiji... pithasree....how? Come we have to help him..." She said and tried to drag shikhandini...But she stopped as she realised that shikhandini isn't moving.....
" No panchali...we can't go now...now panchal is under jarasandh... if he caught us he'll definitely kill us and we couldn't save our country and pithasree...now to save them both we have to run away from here...." Shikhandini said and suddenly panchali's expression changed from worry to fury...
" Cowardice...it's cowardice..we can't run away like this..." Draupadi said and drishtadyumn looked at drauni ...he nodded
" Look mythri...now it's not possible to fight him back...it wasn't in our hands...and we can't ask for a sudden help now and it may also take time....or may be if they comes, we cant say that we will win...so for now ,you have to run...dont worry sikhandini jiji and drisht will be back and they'll let maharaj free " drauni said and now Panchali seemed to be a bit calm....
" But jiji... where will panchi go? What If people recognise her..." Drishtadyumn asked...
" Nobody will drisht.. because no one had seen yagyaseni yet.." shikhandini said with a small smile and suddenly they heard the marching sounds of soldiers....they got alert and ready to run , crossing the river ...
They slowly crossed the river with the help of drauni .....
As they crossed... shikhandini and drishtadyumn looked at Panchali and said " now we are heading towards different directions...and drauni will drop you safely to the borders...upon reaching there ,you will be safe" she said cupping panchali's face...
A lone tear escaped from panchali's eyes.... shikhandini wiped that tears and said
" Don't worry draupadi... we'll come back and will take you ...till then,run from here and remember don't reveal your identity to anyone till we return..it may cause harm to you..."
(Here,Only a few including shikhandini, drishtadyumn,drauni and krishna calls her draupadi hence common people don't know her another name draupadi)
" Take care sister...we all love you..and will come back to you...after border,there starts the kingdom of King srutavarma , Shurasena kingdom..ypu will be safe there... stay there if possible.." drishtadyumn said and she smiled sadly
They finally bid goodbye to shikhandini and drishtadyumn and stood there looking at them leaving to both opposite directions....
"Jijji.... drishtadyumn...." She yelled looking at their figure disappearing into the woods ....
with a paining heart, Panchali moved along with drauni to the other direction, towards the borders of panchal...
