Dean and Reader imagine based on an imagine I saw on the SupernaturalImagine blog on Tumblr.

I hope you enjoy and I'm sorry I haven't updated in freaking ages ily guys.

"Dean? Oh for god sake, Dean if you don't answer in ten seconds I swear I will kick your ass." Your annoyed voice echoed round the walls of the three room apartment as you stood in the doorway, arms folded and lips set in a straight line of frustration. When a few seconds passed with still no reply, you decided to investigate what the hell was going on in there. The door to the relatively modern living room was ajar and something caught your eye as you walked through the entrance, "Hex bag." You muttered under your breath, pulling out a small brown muslin bag from under a sofa cushion.

A low whine alerted you to the dog that was sat across the room, its head in its paws, seemingly in pain. "Y'alright there boy?" you reached out with an unsteady hand to stroke the animal, it was better to be cautious than get your hand ripped off by an aggressive Alsatian, right? To your surprise it lifted its head and nuzzled into your palm, large green eyes meeting yours. "Y/N?" Sam's voice startled you, "I see you found Dean."
"Wha... sorry did you just say Dean?"
"Yeah. As in my brother. A witch did some hoodoo on him and bam, he's now a slightly smelly Alsatian."
The dog let out a growl and cocked its head in Sam's direction, "He can still obviously understand English huh... c'mon we better go before the cops get here."

You were sat on a chair in the bunker, a cup of coffee in one hand and a book on witchcraft in the other. "Sam there's freaking nothing in here about how to change Dean back." You slammed the book shut heavily on the table and looked over at Dean who was curled up in a corner staring out of the window, probably at the Impala. "Don't worry Y/N we'll find something. Just try get some rest it must be over 24 hours since we last had a decent sleep."
"Okay, g'night Sam."
Sam disappeared into his bedroom, sketching a wave in your direction and flashing a reassuring smile.

"Well this makes a change from all your constant bad jokes and sarcastic comments huh Dean?" a silent room greeted your comment. Part of you felt like a complete idiot talking to him, I mean not like he could answer anyway. You had started to miss the cheeky smirk Dean would shoot you from across the room when Sam's snores became audible through the thin walls and the way he would stay up late with you just to hum along to classic rock and eat pie. A tear slipped down your cheek that you quickly brushed away, somehow all this felt like your fault. You shouldn't have let him go off in his own, you knew how tricky witches could be. "I'm sorry Dean." You gasped, trying to regain composure. Dean's ears pricked up and he jumped down from his perch, settling next to you and nudging your leg with his paw. You looked down and were immediately attacked with a slobbery pink tongue that wet the majority of your face. "Oh my god Dean, gross!"

Scrambling to your feet you covered your mouth with your hand, muffling a giggle that was rising in your throat. Dean's tail was now wagging and his expression puzzled. "Don't sit there looking all confused as to why I didn't appreciate being slobbered on, honestly you prawn."

An hour later you came back downstairs after a long soak in the bath, opening the kitchen door quietly you peered around, glancing at Dean who had made himself comfortable on the rug. A pang of affection shot through you as you saw how tranquil he looked. You tiptoed over to his still form and sat beside him, the only sound was the occasional drip of water as it fell from your undried hair onto the carpet. A blush rose in your cheeks as you began stroking his back gently and he shuffled closer, resting his head on your knee, apparently content in your company. Sam walked into the kitchen, his hair all over the place and a book clutched in his hand. "Can't sleep?" you whispered softly, leaving Dean's side and ambling over to Sam, he just nodded and sighed. "You too?"
"Yep." Sam enveloped you in a warm hug, you were just finding it slightly hard to breathe when he released you, giving you a playful hit on the shoulder that nearly knocked you over. Man he didn't realise his own strength sometimes. "How's Dean?"
"Seems alright I guess, however you on the other hand look shocking... Sam I'll watch Dean, it's okay please go back to sleep."
Sam managed to nod and let out a loud yawn in response. "Thank you."

When Sam had left you shook your head in sympathy, he always got into a state when something happened to Dean, no matter how minor. It wasn't that you didn't, you just kept all the worrying internal. The noise of the microwave knocked you from your thoughts, as you took your coffee out, you leaned over to turn on your iPod that was on the docking station, setting it to shuffle you let yourself sink back into the kitchen cabinets, the first few bars of "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd played and you felt at ease for once during this hectic day.

You could barely keep your eyes open, despite the numerous mugs of coffee you had consumed over the past hours, fatigue had tightened its grip on you and didn't look like it was going to let go anytime soon. Making it to your bedroom without tripping over anything did not seem likely so you decided to crash on the sofa for the night. Wandering over to the settee, you flopped down on the heap of cushions, exhaling loudly. You felt something brush past you and the end of the sofa dip, the soft bark that followed reassured you that it was Dean, not some demon. The dog made its way up the settee, careful not to step on your legs, he eventually positioned himself next to your stomach, the warmth was comforting and the sounds of Pink Floyd in the background soon lulled you to sleep.

Light streamed in through a small window in the kitchen and fell on your face, making you curse in annoyance. Once you had come to your senses you became aware of two strong arms wrapped around your waist, opening your eyes and blinking to clear your vision, the sleeping form of Dean swam into view. A wide grin spread across your features, Dean was back. Dean the Alsatian was cute sure thing, but man were you glad to see human Dean back again. "Quit staring at me you weirdo." Dean's groggy, scratchy voice mumbled and you couldn't help but place a small kiss on his cheek, it took all of your willpower not to grab him into a bear hug and plaster kisses all over his face. Dean's eyelids fluttered open, his grip on your waist tightened and his lips found yours, the kiss was sweet and gentle as if he were afraid he might break you. When you broke apart, he had that smirk on his face that you had longed to see for a while.
"I missed your stupid face."
"Mm, shut up and come here." Dean pulled you closer and nuzzled your neck. "I might become a dog more often, if it means I get to cuddle with you."
