The sky was a vibrant blue today. The cars whizzed past as you wait for the crosswalk signal to say it's safe. You were on the way to work. You and Hank apparently had a new partner. You walked across the street and into the building. You stopped by the break room and made yourself some coffee when your least favorite officer started talking. "Hello there Y/n" He said in that creepy ass tone. "Fuck off Gavin. " You mumble. "Aww why so rude L/N?" He asked in a horrible attempt to flirt. You sighed and walked up to him. "If you don't stop, I will make you regret it." You threatened. "Ooh rolep-" You dumped the coffee on his head and took his Danish and sat down at your desk.

You didn't even like Danish's that much, but you saw it as a trophy. "Are you miss Y/n L/n?" A voice in front of the other terminal said, causing you to nearly fall out your seat. "Holy shit." You gasped. "My apologies. My name is Connor, I'm the android sent by CyberLife. " He said. You look at him. His hair was brown and was parted in a manner that you found oddly attractive. His voice sounded straightforward and programed. He was different. Different from all the other androids.

Your eyes stared at the serial number. RK 800. "...I don't think I've heard of your model before. Is it new or something?" You asked. He nodded slightly. "In a way. I'm actually a prototype. Deviants are beginning to rise. So what better way to catch them than to--"

"Send an android." You finished his sentence. "Exactly." Connor said.

Over the course of the week Connor had trouble keeping up with you. Your personality threw him off, not to mention Hank's habit of always being drunk. Connor observed you frequently and just when he thought he had you figured out, you'd do something random that threw him off. To be honest he was more intrigued than annoyed. You were cold, yet nice. No matter what, you always played the good cop. Even if it was a small job like helping a little girl find her mom.

He took note of you and started asking questions about you to Hank one afternoon when you called in sick. "Where's Y/n?" He asked. "She's got a cold." Hank told him. "Ah. I see. So she'll be out for a while." Connor said. "Nope. She recovers quickly. She'll be back tomorrow" Hank said. "... Tell me about miss Y/n." Connor said. Hank looked up from his terminal. "Why, you gotta crush or something?" Hank asked. "No Lieutenant. I'm simply trying to get to know you two better." Connor explained. Hank leaned back, examining the android. "...Alright. What do you wanna know?" Hank asked. "Where is she from?" Connor asked. "Here in Detroit." Hank stated. "Does she have any other family involved in police?" Connor asked. "Most of her family is deceased." Hank said. "What's her taste in music?" Connor asked. "Everything really. She doesn't exactly have a favorite genre." Hank said. "...What's your take on Y/n?" Connor asked. "....She's Y/n. She's cold when she wants to be but she's a good person. She's smart and mainly relies on her wits, she's quick and straight to the point, she HATES Reed with a passion. But.... I'll tell you this much kid. She can be your bestfriend. Or your worst nightmare." Hank replied. Connor was thrown off by his genuine response and fell silent.

The next morning you came back already better. "Morning tin man." You called Connor. "Good morning miss Y/n." Connor said. You sat at your terminal when a odd question popped into your head. "Do you need to eat Connor?" You asked. Connor shook his head. "Consumption of any matter is not necessary for androids." Connor said. You frowned. The response sounded programed.  "What are you meant for?" You asked. "What?" Connor asked, not exactly understanding your question. "Certain androids are built for certain jobs. Like store androids, house keep androids, ect. Yet you don't exactly seem to have one purpose. What are you built for?" You asked. "To find out why androids go deviant." Connor answered.

You gave him a look. "Why do you think they go deviant?" You asked. "Software instability." Connor said simply. "So you don't consider yourself alive?" You asked. "No. I am a android. Why would I consider myself alive?" He asked. "Because I think you are." You said leaning forward. "You believe we're people?" Connor asked. "Yes." You confirmed.

Software instability

"Why did your LED flash yellow?" You asked. "My stress level must've changed for a brief moment. " Connor explained. "Ah. I stress you out?" You asked. "No. You confuse me." Connor admitted. "I confuse you?" You asked. "Yes. You don't have a particular pattern to you like most people do." Connor stated. "What kind of pattern does Hank have?" You asked curiously. "He drinks, he passes out, he comes to work, he complains, he goes home, restarts the process." Connor admitted. You snorted. "He's actually really useful on a case." You said.

Connor raised his eyebrow as Reed walked by. "Having fun with your pet?" Gavin asked. You glared. "Fuck off Gavin." You said. Gavin ignored you. "Don't you know we don't need you. We're just fine without androids." Gavin said attempting to bring Connor down. You opened your desk drawer and threw the Danish you stole from him days before at his face. "OW! JESUS Y/N DO YOU JUST KEEP BREAKFAST FOODS ON HOLD TO THROW AT ME!?" Gavin shouted. "Nope. I keep the breakfast foods for assholes." You said. Gavin cursed under his breath and left. Connor looked at you with the slightest bit of amusement. "What the hell?" Hank asked. Connor looked at Hank. "Gavin." You said not looking up. "Gotcha." Hank said.

Connor found the two of you to be strange. But the oddest part was he was drawn to you. Like a moth to a flame, he wanted to be near you.

Maybe... maybe you were on to something to begin with.
