The day had been long, and all you wanted was to get home and unwind. As you stepped into the elevator, you were relieved that it was empty, anticipating a quiet ride to the ground floor. However, your plans were thwarted when the doors began to close, and a familiar voice called out, "Hold the elevator, please!"

You quickly pressed the 'Open' button, and Miles Morales, your college acquaintance, hurriedly stepped inside. The doors closed behind him, leaving both of you trapped in the confined space.

"Hey," he said with a warm smile.

"Hey, Miles," you replied, offering a small smile in return.

The elevator jolted, and to your dismay, it came to a sudden halt between floors. The lights flickered for a moment before stabilizing, and the elevator remained eerily quiet. Panic fluttered in your chest as you hoped it was just a momentary glitch.

"Uhm, it's stuck," Miles stated, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

"Yeah, looks like it," you replied, trying to hide the unease in your tone.

The silence between you was both awkward and uncomfortable. You found yourself fidgeting, unsure of what to do in this situation. Miles, on the other hand, was taking deep breaths, trying to remain calm.

"I-I'm sure they'll fix it soon," he stammered, trying to offer some reassurance.

You nodded, appreciating his attempt to ease the tension. "Yeah, they probably will."

Minutes felt like hours as you waited, hoping the elevator would start moving again. During this time, you exchanged small talk to distract yourselves from the predicament.

"So, how's college going?" Miles asked, trying to steer the conversation away from the confined space.

You talked about your classes and recent assignments, trying your best to sound at ease. Surprisingly, as the conversation continued, the tension began to lift, and you found yourselves laughing at some shared anecdotes.

As you both continued to chat, you noticed something different about Miles. His nervousness seemed to fade away, replaced by a more genuine and relaxed demeanor. You found yourself enjoying his company and even started to appreciate how he always managed to put a smile on your face.

Eventually, after what felt like an eternity, the elevator's lights flickered again, and the familiar hum of the machinery signaled its movement. The doors opened to the ground floor, and you both stepped out, finally free from the confined space.

Miles turned to face you, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks. "I-I'll see you around?" he stuttered, sounding unsure of himself.

Your heart fluttered at his nervous demeanor, and a soft smile graced your lips. "Yeah, definitely. Thanks for making being stuck in there a bit more bearable."

He smiled warmly, his confidence slowly returning. "No problem. See you, Mc."

As you walked away, you couldn't help but feel a newfound warmth in your heart. In the short time you spent trapped in the elevator with Miles, you had seen a different side of him—one that was caring, kind, and unexpectedly endearing.

Over the next few weeks, you found yourself running into Miles more often on campus. Sometimes, it felt like mere coincidence, but other times, you wondered if he was intentionally crossing paths with you. You couldn't deny that you enjoyed his company and the way he made you laugh.

As the days passed, you found your own feelings for Miles growing. You admired his determination and passion for the things he loved. His ability to stay true to himself and stand up for what was right made you admire him even more.

Eventually, the two of you started spending more time together outside of chance encounters. You shared meals, went to the movies, and had deep conversations that left you feeling even more connected.

One evening, you found yourselves sitting on a rooftop, the city lights twinkling below. The silence between you was comfortable, and you could feel the tension building.

Miles broke the silence first, his voice softer than usual. "You know, that time we were stuck in the elevator... something changed for me."

Your heart skipped a beat, and you turned to face him, a blush creeping up your cheeks. "Me too, Miles. I've been feeling the same way."

He looked relieved, a small smile tugging at his lips. "I didn't know if you felt the same, but I couldn't hide it anymore."

You reached out and took his hand in yours, feeling the warmth of his touch. "I'm glad you didn't hide it. I've been trying to hide my feelings too."

Miles' smile widened, and he gently squeezed your hand. "Then maybe we don't have to hide anymore."

Your heart soared as you leaned in, closing the gap between you, and your lips met in a gentle kiss. The rooftop seemed to disappear around you as the world faded away, leaving only the two of you in that moment.
