While visiting Verona, Italy, with her best friend Jenny, Ali Hall, visits a wall where heartbroken individuals leave notes to Shakespeare's tragic heroine, Juliet Capulet. One such letter from 1930 catches Ali's attention, and she decides to write to its now elderly author, Claire. Inspired by Ali's actions, Claire embarks on a journey to find her long-lost lover, accompanied by her two grandsons, Ali and Jenny.
