Steven couldn't believe it. It was sundown in spirit valley and everyone was worried about Steven. But Steven didn't want anyone to be around him. For once in his life he actually killed two people in one day, not only that, he killed cragger's parents right in front of everyone

Steven gets up and heads for the nearest warp pad

Angel dust: Steven? Come on pal! Snap out of it

Jasper: my diamond can do whatever he wants!

Otis: can you please be supportive?

Steven waves his hand and traps everyone in a pink shield

Angel dust: pal! What's going on?

Steven: leave me alone. I love you guys but, only my diamond family can help me up to this point. Please, don't follow me

Jasper Smirks until

Steven: you too jasper. Find something better to do with your life

Thrash snaps a photo of that face as Steven warps away

Thrash: I can't believe that girls actually sad! Haha!

Everyone looks to him sternly

Thrash: sorry!

Meanwhile terk and tantor come to the scene just as Steven warps away

Tantor: STEVEN!!!

Terk: we're too late! I can't believe it! If you'd have pulled up and ask for directions!

Tantor: we didn't even get to say goodbye

Terk: yeah well, good riddance! Alright who needs ya huh?! Go on! Get outta here bald boy! You- you ingrate! You bald ingrate! Go live with ya fellow aliens for all I care! Go!

Terk sits on her butt as tantor looks at her sincerely. The gorilla takes notice

Terk: the fuck are you looking at?!

Tantor: I'm gonna miss him too

Terk groans in frustration. He punches tantor's foot as she heads back to the jungle. Tantor just sighs sadly sloping his trunk to the ground

Meanwhile Steven finally warps to homeworld to find it completely different. The diamond palace was unrecognizable as he goes in to find all the gems playing and having fun now that they had free lives of their own following their own passions now

Steven: woah

That's when he sees her sister spinel in the distance

Spinel: Steven!

She stretches her arms around her brother and gives him a big wet smooch on the face

Steven: SPINEL!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?

Spinel: not much pal! Geez, what's gotten into ya pal?

Steven: (groaning) sorry. Just going through some stuff right now

At that moment the back pain came back as his bones and innards snapped and broke as he screams from the pain

Spinel: Steven! Are ya okay?

Steven: no, I'm not okay! Nothing about this is okay!

That's when his back snapped making him quadrupedal

Steven: HOLY FUCK THAT HURTS!!!

Spinel: geez! Maybe yellow can help with that

Steven: ya think?

Yellow Diamond let out a sigh of frustration when she carefully placed the last piece of the Flint gemstone together, but like the Chert gemstone, nothing had happened. She was sure with her Diamond strength and abilities, she'd bring the Gems back to life, but apparently not. She might need to get help from Blue and White

Spinel: hey auntie!

The yellow monarch nearly jumped up from hearing her Spinel's voice

Yellow: oh! Spinel! You startled me

That's when she noticed Steven next to her shocked by what she was doing

Yellow: Steven?! Is that you? What happened to you?

Steven: That's what I've been trying to figure out

That's when the pain came back as spines ran down his back one by one. Yellow Diamond's eyes widened

Steven: this has been happening non stop!

They all saw the tears in his eyes from so much pain

Yellow: calm down Steven, Let me try to fix that

She leans to her nephew Rubbing her hands together to form sparks, she pressed a finger-tip to his head, struggling to restore his corruption. Steven tried to stay still, despite feeling strong pain flow from the energy.

Opening an eye, Steven looked down his body to see he was back to normal. He chuckled aloud in heavy relief, staring at his normal hands, without any splotches or claws

Yellow: there. Good as new

However, Steven suddenly shouted out of agony and fell to the ground as the splotches, horns, tusks, spikes, claws, and the tail returned all too quickly. Yellow Diamond pulled away. With pained tears streaming down his face, Steven looked at his hands again, shaking visibly at the sight of them

Steven: ... No... N-No! Why didn't it work?!

He looks up to his aunt with desperation in his eyes

Steven: WHY DIDN'T IT WORK?!

Yellow: Steven! Please, calm down. Perhaps this strange occurrence has nothing to deal with any psychical problems, but it must be emotional. Try talking to Blue, and if that doesn't work, you can go straight to White

Steven lowers his head to his shoulders to ease the pain in his body

Steven: A-Alright then... Thanks for trying...

The two stepped inside the blue room, and Steven was taken aback from the sight of pale blue clouds overtaking the place. A few Gems, such as Cherry Quartz, Lepidolite, and Iris were relaxed, laying on the clouds, drifting around the room as Blue Diamond appeared

Blue diamond: oh my stars! Steven are you alright?

Steven: (snarls) what do you think?

Spinel: he started morphing into a crocodile lizard thing since he got here and yellow tried to help, but... the results speak for themselves

Blue: self corruption? That's beyond anything we've heard before. And even Yellow couldn't fix you?

Steven: No, she couldn't, but maybe you can! I haven't been feeling good about myself at all, so can you-

He flinched when a blue cloud touched him, and for a moment, he felt... giddy. He laughed from the feeling the cloud gave him

Steven: W-What... What is this?

Blue: you see, Back before you came into my life, I wanted everyone to suffer like how I did. But when you came and ended our tyranny, my tears had vaporized into these clouds, and from a simple touch, it can bring pure joy to anyone, big or small, dull or bright, or troubled souls needed of happiness

Spinel: hop on bro! It'll help a whole lot!

Well, if this is able to help me feel better. Maybe it'll get rid of my weird behavior and these awful spots and spikes... Steven thought before hopping onto one. In an instant, pure solace and joy poured itself into his body and he smiled at the nice feeling, even his tail wagged a bit as he was lifted into the air

But after a while, Steven stared at his body to see if anything had changed, yet, he was horrified to see that nothing has. No... not even Blue Diamond's powers helped him. Was this happiness and purity all false? Just a tiny creation mended to make someone feel good for a while instead of removing any trauma whatsoever?

Steven: it's not working!

That's when his two bumps appear on his head as well as his two lower teeth start to turn into tusks. He was so upset he slipped and fell but spinel used her feet like chopper blades and floated him to the floor. Blue Diamond had the clouds safely float them down to the floor

Blue: Steven, what's the matter?

Steven: I-I thought your powers would heal me from feeling bad about myself anymore! I thought my emotions were corrupting me!

Blue: I'm sorry I couldn't help you, I can't do any more for you. Unless you go to White, she might help you then

Steven scowled at the idea, but knew there was no other choice he had left

Steven limps to whites door as spinel helps him

Spinel: don't worry bro! Grandma white just might be the key to curing whatever the heck's happening to you

Steven: what  I even worried about? She and I are really close. We planned era 3, she freed pink Pearl from her control, heck we both saved Christmas together!

They both enter whites room as they see white on the spot

White; Steven! What In the galaxy happened to you?

Steven sighed, trying to ignore any fear in his gut

Steven: Believe me, I've heard that question from myself many times before. But White, you have to help me. I don't know why all this happened to me, but you Diamonds are my last chance

White: I see. Well I'm not certain it'll work but I'm more than happy to help, dear. You see  during your absence I've traveled from planet to planet, giving voice to each little Gem without failure. Hopefully I can try to do the same for you

Steven: T-That's... great, but... what are you going to do? Still control gems like with pink Pearl?

From his words, White Diamond only paused for a moment, but brushed it off

White: Well, that was long ago. But don't worry, I don't use it to control anyone anymore. I use it to gaze into your psyche. No control over you, nothing. I promise

Steven: R-Really? You're able to see what's wrong with me?

White nods as she stands up

White: Now, Spinel, I would like you to step aside

Spinel: okay nana

Spinel stretches her leg and takes a huge step back. Steven gulped as White Diamond closed her eyes, then opened them, flashing white as she internally dove into Steven's mind. The hybrid stood still, hoping he wasn't messing up with the Diamond using her powers on him

When she opened her eyes, white was inside Stevens mind. And it was pitch black with a grey floor

White: peculiar

???: indeed it is

She turns to see three dragon heads looking right into her soul

White: who- who are you?

Ghidorah: i am your worst nightmare!

Ghidorah proceeds to blast her with his gravity beams. In a flash of yellow light, White Diamond pulled herself out of her grandson's mind and stepped backwards, her expression aghast with sheer terror

Steven: W-What?! What did you see?!

White Diamond was still shaking, clearly horrified from what she saw

White: That... that's not corruption... I... I-I can't even name what it is...

Steven felt his heart sink even further into his stomach. Dread clawed at his gut as tears fled down his cheeks, missing his tusks

Steven: W-What do you mean...? Y-You can't heal me? You can't take all this away?

White shook her head. That was the last straw. Steven's eyes turned pitch black with pink diamond shaped irises as he started to grow and shift, his bones snapped back into a hunched over bipedal stance, his neck became more muscular, his head became that of a giganotosaurus, his tusks grew longer with two more growing from his chin, his tail grew as his claws grew longer and sharper. Steven was unrecognizable

White: oh crap!

Steven lunges with rage as he grips white by the throat bellowing with fury. Spinel grabs him by the neck to try and restrain him

Spinel: Steven! Snap out of it bro!

Steven lunged at her and grabbed her with his jaws poofing her instantly. Afterwards he bellows again as he charges out of the room

White: wait!

But Steven was already running out of the room, ignoring the crowd of shocked and petrified Gems gasping at him. Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond appeared as well, having heard the crash.

When he was ran down the hallway to leave the building, another wave of pain overwhelmed him, and Steven fell to his knees, hugging his sides that began to ache terribly. Right behind him, the Diamonds called out his name.

White: Steven! Let us help you Steven!

Growling in frustration, Steven stood up and ran outside bellowing with primal rage

Yellow: let us help you!

Blue: we're your family!

But instead, Steven continued to growl at them, feral thoughts running in his mind and he ignored their pleas

Steven: (primevally) I have no family

White: Steven!

Steven let's out the most loudest roar he ever mustard as he warps away with all three diamonds watching in horror
