Maddy's P.O.V.

"Spencer, I have a question for you." I tell Spencer. We are both sitting on his couch in his apartment, after work on the last Friday of April.

"Go ahead." He says.

"Alright. Well, I forgot to mention this to you quite a while ago, and I should have, that my cousin Michel has a fiancé named Ellie Charles, and they have a wedding next weekend in California. Do you think you could manage to be my plus one?" I ask.

"Of course, you didn't even have to ask, but I didn't know."

"It kind of slipped from thought. And you could have been busy."

"Trust me, honey, I don't do to much without you. And when I do, I'd much rather be with you." Spencer tells me, giving me a slight, sincere smile, squeezing my hand. Now that I think about it, we do most things together. We work together, and when we aren't at work, we are often at each other's apartments or out, doing something together. But I like it that way, and I think he does too.

Maddy's P.O.V.

It's May 2nd, and Spencer and I are getting ready for the wedding in our hotel room. We are staying in the same hotel as the rest of my family that came from Wisconsin. We flew into Los Angeles last night, and are staying at a posh hotel which the wedding is located at.

I am curling my hair, when Spencer comes into the bathroom and wraps his arms around my waist. I swear, he does it at the most inconvenient times.

"Spencer, I will burn you." I threaten.

"You would never do that." He points out.

"Not intentionally. But it's a possibility when you're like this and I'm trying to curl my hair." I explain. He lets go, and stands next to me instead. And few minutes later, I'm finished getting ready.

"You look gorgeous" Spencer compliments me. I'm wearing a simple, light peach collared, flowy dress that stops right above my knees with nude heels.

"You look very nice yourself." I tell him, and he really does look especially great. He is in grey dress pants with dress shoes and a cream, tucked in dress shirt and tie and his hair neatly done. "We should probably go down." I say, looking at the time. We walk downstairs to the area the ceremony will be held. And before we know it, Michel is walking down the aisle, up to the front of the room, with his military uniform on. Just a few minutes later, music begins playing, and the first person proceeds down the aisle.

It's a pair, a bridesmaid and a groomsman. This pair is the maid of honor, Ellie's sister, Chloe, and the best man, James. The bridesmaids are wearing pastel, lavender dresses. Then, after several more bridesmaids, groomsmen, the flower girl and ring bearer come down the aisle, the bride walks out. Ellie has chestnut hair, freckles, and hazel eyes. She's also very petite, smaller than me. She stands at 5'1. She's glowing, and Michel is as well when he sets his eyes on her. She is wearing a strapless gown that is lace and is tight until you get to the waist, then it flows out, with some tool underneath. He father places her hand into Michels, and then takes a seat in the front.

The ceremony is beautifully sentimental, and the classic vows recited by Michel and Ellie were said with such compassion, it brought tears to both Spencer's and my eyes. "You may kiss the bride" the wedding minister announces, and Michel and Ellie end the ceremony with a passionate kiss. They then walk gleefully down the aisle, followed by the wedding party. They are off to take wedding pictures while we have cocktail hour.

Cocktail hour is held in the area outside of the ballroom, which is where the reception will be held, as well as this area. Spencer and I both grab a flute of champagne from a tray a waiter is bringing around. Spencer opens his mouth to say something, but before he can do so, Betty comes by us.

"Hello!" She greets. "I'm glad you two could make it. I wasn't sure with work and all."

"Hi, Betty." I say, giving her a quick hug. "Luckily, we didn't have anything interfering. I didn't get tickets until several days before we left, so we were also lucky to get those as well."

"Yes, you were. I'm sure Michel and Ellie will be very happy you both could make it." Betty tells us. "Spencer, despite the way Michel rubs off, he really does like you, along with the rest of us. You'll have to learn to deal with Maddy's family sometime." Betty informs Spencer, only half joking on the last part.

"Well, I think you have a great family. Michel is just trying to protect Maddy, and I don't blame him, especially with her circumstance." Spencer says in a polite, gentleman like way, continuing to leave a good impression on my aunt.

"At least someone thinks that. I will catch up with you two later." Betty tells us, wandering off again. When she walks away, you can physically notice Spencer relax.

"You get awfully tense around my family." I say, rubbing his shoulder.

"I just want them to like me." He tells me.

"Well, they can be a bit over-bearing at times, but they always have good intentions." I say, and Spencer nods in agreement. Not long after we finish our drinks, the ballroom is opened up. We find our table, number 2, and see we are sitting at the same table as both of my aunts and uncles from my moms side.

"Hi, nice to see you two again." Betty greets a second time.

"Hi. Spencer, you know Betty and Lanie, but these are my uncles, David and Brian." I introduce Spencer. He shakes their hands and greets both of them. It surprises me that he shakes their hands because Spencer is very cautious about germs, and barely shakes anybody's hand. He must really want to make a good impression.

"Nice see you again, Maddy. And nice to meet you, Spencer. Betty told me about you." David, Betty's husband tells us. My uncles are not little people, unlike Spencer. They are both very tall, taller than Spencer, both at 6'5. And, they aren't very skinny either, so they are a bit intimidating to Spencer.

"Just what a great boy you are, especially for Maddy." Betty tries to reassure Spencer. We talk and catch up over dinner, first with soup and salad then a chicken entree and cupcakes are served instead of the traditional wedding cake.

After, we turn around in our seats to see Michel and Ellie out on the ballroom dance floor, having their first dance. Ellie's eyes meet Michel's, and no words are exchanged because that is enough for them. Throughout the song, smiles stay on their faces, along with a film of tears over their eyes. Once the song ends, they share a tight hug, then everyone is invited in the dance floor.

The other four seated at our table get up and go to the dance floor. I look at Spencer, and his eyes widen and he shakes his head. "Come on, Spence. Why not?" I ask.

"Do you want me to eternally embarrass you? I can't go out their and dance, especially in front of your family." Spencer tries to convince me.

"That's not true. Remember when we all went to that bar for the Super Bowl? You danced there."

"You practically forced me. You threatened that otherwise, you would 'get your groove on' with Morgan."

"My point is that you also said that you would look ridiculous then, but you didn't."

"I also had a few drinks in me, which helped loosen me up a bit and convince me to humiliate myself." He says, stubbornly. He really will not give up.

"Ugh, Spencer, please? For me? The least you can do is dance with you girlfriend." I beg. Spencer finally gives in. He sighs, then gets up and takes my hand. At first, the songs that play are newer songs that Spencer probably hasn't even ever heard of. And I have to admit, he looks a bit out of place, not really knowing what to do. But after a while, a slower song comes on, and he wraps his arms around my waist and I do the same around his shoulders.

"That was terrible, admit it. At least I can't remember that night at the bar as clearly."

"It wasn't that bad." I tell him, honestly. Because it wasn't bad, but like I said, it's just not his thing. "But wasn't it fun?" I ask, trying to make it a bit better. He raises his eyebrows, and shakes his head.

"No, it wasn't. I don't even know what any of these songs are." He admits.

"I assumed that. But thanks for doing it anyway."

"Of course." He tells me, giving me the slightest of a smile. After that song, we begin to go and sit down at our table, but are stopped by Lily and Kate.

"Hey guys!" Lily greets enthusiastically.

"Hello Lily and Kate. Nice to see you both again." I greet to both of them.

"So I see that you guys could make it." Kate says, looking a bit uncomfortable in her bridesmaid dress. She's not really into girly things, quite a tomboy.

"Yes, thankfully we didn't have to work." I tell them.

"And you brought Spencer." Lily states the obvious, smiling.

Spencer nods and says, "Yes, Maddy invited me as her plus one."

"You two will be next." Lily says a guess like a fact.

"Maybe" I say.

"Well, we are going back on the dance floor. Are you?" Lily asks.

"No, we already did. Spencer isn't very find of dancing."

"Oh, well, I'll see you in a little bit." Lily says, dragging Kate along with her.

"She's enthusiastic." Spencer comments once they're gone.

"Lily has a lot of energy. If only we had that's much without even consuming caffeine. She only drinks decaf." I tell him.

"She probably sleeps a bit better than we do."

"She does. She needs her sleep, otherwise she is terrible in the morning." I tell Spencer. All three of Betty's children require sleep, they are not morning people. Unlike Betty, who needs barely any sleep to function.

Throughout the evening, Spencer and I talk to several of my family members and friends, including eventually Michel and Ellie. We leave to go up to our room around 11:00pm, after we bid our goodbyes to everybody. Once we get to our room, Spencer and I both lay down on the bed. Well, after I remove my shoes which were causing my feet a great deal of pain.

"Hey, you survived a whole evening with my family." I congratulate Spencer.

"I tried." He tells me.

"I could tell. You even shook my uncles' hands. But I give you credit, my family is a bit overbearing and loud."

"You are part of that family as well, and that does not fit your personality." Spencer points out.

"Well, I'm a bit different from the rest of my family. Actually, most people in general."

"I think that counts for both of us." He says, talking about being different from most people, because him and his mom are similar in many ways.

We lay they for a few minutes, just enjoying each other's company. "I'm going to shower." I tell Spencer after a little while. He nods, but then his phone buzzes.

"Wait" he tells me. "It's Hotch. We have a case."

"Really? Why is it when I'm always with family?" I complain, a bit disappointed. We were going to stay here tomorrow to spend time with them, then fly out at 8:00pm.

"Just kidding." Spencer says with a big smile on his face out of amusement and trying to look innocent.

"Spencer, that wasn't funny." I pout.

"Oh, I'm sorry. It wasn't that bad." He says, laughing a bit as he hugs me.

"Ugh, Spence, I still love you. I'm really going to shower now." I tell him, unwrapping myself from his hug then planting a kiss on his cheek.
