Hey guys! I'm sorry that I'm kind of skipping around in time. I just want to make the book more interesting for you all.
......

Maddy's P.O.V.

It's December 24th, Christmas Eve. I'm still going into work today, but only until noon. Then, Spencer is coming over and spending the night so we can spend Christmas together as well. The rest of my family is in Wisconsin and Spencer can't be with his either, so we thought this would be best.

I walk into my office and see that it is festively decorated for the holiday. Even complete with a little Christmas tree. Then my chair turns around and I see Spencer with an elf hat on his head.

"Spencer! First, this is so sweet. And second, you look adorable in that hat." I say as I walk towards him and greet him with a kiss.

"Don't worry, I have one for you to. Everyone, actually." He tells me, handing me a Santa hat.

"What the hell happened in here? Did Christmas throw up?" Morgan says, walking in my office.

"No, Reid happened in here." I tell Morgan.

"Oh. That makes sense. He goes a bit overboard for holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas." Morgan explains for me.

"I even have a hat for you" Spencer says, handing him a matching elf hat, except this one is red, Reid's is green.

"Fine. We can all look ridiculous together. You're lucky I like you this much." Morgan tells Spencer as he puts on his hat. I slip on my Santa hat as well.

"I'm taking a picture of you two." I tell them, giggling. Morgan was right, they do both look a bit ridiculous. And just now, I notice Spencer is also wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. Then again, I'm guilty of owning one as well. "Spencer, I also love your sweater."

"Of course you have an ugly Christmas sweater." Says Morgan.

"So you're saying that you don't have one? I'm guilty of it." I admit

"No, I don't. What is it with you two. You have those matching bags, matching dirty old black converse, and now you both have ugly Christmas sweaters."

"Morgan, stop complaining about our horrible taste and pose for the picture." I say, pulling out my phone. I take several.

"Alright. Now I'm taking some of you and Reid." Says Morgan. I hand over my phone and Spencer and we wrap our arms around eachother. Morgan takes a few pictures and hands me back my phone. Then, there's a knock on the window.

"Hey! Why weren't we invited to the Christmas party in Maddy's office!?" Yells Garcia, making sure we hear. The rest of the team is with her. I let them in.

"Wow. I'm going to guess that Reid did this." Says Rossi once he fully observes the decorations.

"Yes he did. And, he even has hats for everyone." I tell them. Spencer then hands Blake, Rossi, and JJ reindeer antlers, Hotch a elf hat, and Garcia a sparkly Santa hat.

"Now we need a group picture." Announces Morgan.

"Alright. Everyone get close to me." I say. We snap a few pictures together. I show them the pictures I just took of all of us and the pictures of Spencer, Morgan, and I.

"Alright, am I the only one who has no work to do?" Asks Blake.

"No" we all agree.

"Yay! Office Christmas party!" Cheers Garcia.

"That's fine. I know you'll have finished everything, so have some fun." Hotch tells us.

"Well, then I'll make my specialty. Half and half hot chocolate and coffee." I offer as I begin to start the coffee and hot chocolate.

"And, I did make cookies for everyone. I'll go get them." Says Garcia, getting up to grab them. When the drinks are done, I take everybody's empty mugs and cups, filling them up half and half. Garcia hand us each several snicker doodle cookies. Hotch pulls up my chair for my desk, and the rest of us squeeze onto my couch and one other chair. I just end up on Spencer's lap with my plate of cookies and half and half. Garcia puts on Christmas music. It just all really feels nice. Spending time with them. We are laughing together, talking together. They're like my family now.

Maddy's P.O.V.

It's just past 12:15, and I'm unlocking my apartment door with Spencer by my side. I did decorate my place a bit. I set up and decorated a Christmas tree and put up a few other decorations.

"You can put your coat and bag in my room." I tell Spencer. I get out our Panera, which me picked up on the way back here. I light a few Christmas scented candles around the place. We sit down and eat. When we are finished, I turn on the Christmas lights, light the fire place, and put on Christmas music. "I'm going to change. I'll be right back." I change into black leggings and a baggy sweater. We don't plan on doing anything to elaborate. I make more half and half and get two new mugs for Spencer and I. He sits on the couch and I cuddle up right next to him.

"This is perfect." I tell him. I truly believe it is. Just relaxing, and being with Spencer.

"It is." He agrees, which makes it even more perfect. We stay silent for a while. It's not an awkward silence, it's quite nice and soothing.

"I have something for you." He tells me after a little bit. He pulls a box out of his pocket. "Open it."

I do. "It's beautiful Spencer. You didn't have to do this." It's a little gold locket with a heart. It has our names engraved in it and a picture of the two of us inside.

"Yes, I did. It's a gift for my girlfriend."

"Well, I do have something for you, atleast. But it's nothing near as great as this. I'll get it. It's just under the tree." I hand him a big bag. He pulls out everything I got him. It's kind of a random array of things, but it's all things that he loves. I got him a wool scarf, two bow ties, two books, several pairs of fun socks, a sweater, and a coffee mug. "I know it's not much, but I just got things that I knew you loved"

"Maddy, I love it all. It's perfect."

"Good, I just want you to like it. And Spencer, can you please help me put this necklace on?" He gentle puts it on me as I hold my hair up, out of the way.

"Thank you Spencer. Now, let's begin baking. We can start with the cookies."

"Alright, as long as you can help me out. I can not bake, whatsoever."

"Don't worry Spence, I'm helping. We are making a large, unnecessary amount of sweets. I will not let you screw any of it up." I assure him. We end up making chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, my grandmas recipe of Carmel corn, chocolate covered pretzels, and brownies. That takes up about 3 hours.

Once we're done cleaning up the kitchen, there's a knock on the door. I open it, assuming it's Christmas Carolers. Yes, there are Christmas Carolers in apartments, I've encountered them before. But when I open it, it's defiantly not Christmas Carolers. It's my family from Wisconsin.

"Surprise!" They exclaim. I'm certainty surprised.

"Who is it?" Asks Spencer, now walking up to the door himself.

"Oh my goodness. How did you all get here?" I ask them. My aunts, Betty and Lanie are here. Lanie is here with her son, Michel, who is 28 and in the military. He is still quite tall and athletic and still has the same curly dark hair. Lanie has dark hair as well, in a pixie cut. She has blue eyes, similar to mine. She's always fun, a free spirit. I wouldn't doubt that this was all her idea. Betty is 45 and still has her usual big hair and trendy outfit. But she still makes it work. Her son, James has came as well. He has very blonde curly hair and light eyes. He's 20. Her two daughters, Lily and Kate came along. Lily is 18 with wavy, dark hair and dark brown eyes. She's little, only about 5'2 and quite petite. Kate has dark, straight hair and blue eyes, about identical to James'. She's tall like her mom, but Betty's skinny, Kate is muscular. She's 17.

"We took a flight here. We wanted it to be a surprise and to see how you're doing here." Lisa tells me.

"Oh. Did you guys get a place to stay?" I ask, because there's not enough room here,

"Don't worry, we got a hotel. We knew you wouldn't have enough room in a apartment." Says Betty.

"Well, come on in." I tell them. I take their coats and hang them up in my closet.

"We did buy a few things once we got here. We didn't expect you to have enough food or anything." Lanie says as they all begin to prepare a meal. A ham, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, and clam chowder. They also have Christmas cookies and several bottles of wine, a case of beer, soda, hot chocolate powder, and a few things for mixing drinks.

"Wow. This is super great of you all. Let me help out." I tell them. Spencer is still kind of awkwardly standing there, not really knowing any of them.

"No. We are doing this for you. It's fine." Lisa insists.

"And, I want to introduce you all to Spencer. He's my boyfriend that I've mentioned." I tell everyone as I grab his hand, making him feel a bit more relaxed.

"I'm Michel, Maddy's cousin. Be good to her." He tells Spencer, taking on my father figure. He's always been so overprotective of me. The rest of them introduce themselves, welcoming him into the family and such while working on preparing the dinner. I decide to at least try to make conversation while they work.

"So James, how's lacrosse and hockey going?" I ask. He plays both for UW, hockey got him there on a full ride.

"It's going pretty good. I have a different roommate than I did last year, a lot neater than the last one." He tells me. He's kind of a neat freak, just like his mom. Lily is the same way.

"How's college for you so far?" I ask Lily. She's a freshman at Marquette, in Milwaukee.

"It's actually good so far. I got a boyfriend, his name is Jacob. He's a baseball player." She informs me.

"What does he look like?" I question on about him. I've always been like a 3rd sister to Lily and Kate, I need to catch up on girl talk.

"Well, he's 6'0, has sandy blonde hair, green eyes, and he's just super cute and sweet." What a description. Lily's a bit of a drama queen, a princess, a diva. She's academically average, but other than that, she's a blonde. Kate teases her about that a lot.

"Have you gotten any offers for schools?" I ask Kate. She's extremely athletic. She plays hockey, soccer, volleyball, softball, runs track, cross country, and on top of all of that, she super smart. Top of her class smart. I wouldn't be surprised if she comes out as validictorian. She's a tomboy, and a bit rough, but I love her for it.

"Quite a few. Wisconsin, Minnisota, Michagan, Illinois, New Hampsheire, Tennesee, Washington, Oregon, and Pennsylvania so far. Those are just the full rides."

"Wow. That's amazing." I tell her. And it really is. "And Michel, how's everything going with the Marines?"

"It's going really well. I've been waiting until now to tell you this, starting this summer, I'll be deployed out here in Virgina." Michel tells me the news.

"That's great! But did you like it in California?" He has been there for several years now.

"It's been good, but I'm excited to move."

"That's really neat. I'm glad that everything is going good for all of you." I tell them all. "Spence, what would you like to drink?"

"Don't worry about me Maddy, I can get something for both of us. What would you like?"

"Whatever you have is fine with me, just not beer." I end up with wine, which he knows I prefer. Betty knows it too.

"Maddy, you've trained him well. He gets your drink, and the right one." Betty teases. Then, she directs to Spencer "So, tell us a little about yourself."

"What would you like to know?" He asks.

"Whatever. Just a bit about yourself." Betty tells him.

"Alright. I came from Las Vegas. My parents split when I was young. I graduated high school when I was 12. I have 3 PhDs and have an IQ of 187. I enjoy to read and play chess in my free time. Maddy is the only person who's beat me at chess, poker, and scrabble." Spencer says, trying to describe himself.

"Aww Maddy. You found a fellow genius." Michel makes fun of us. Same old Michel.

"Let's face it. You two are practically perfect for eachother." Gushes Lily. She just loves love.

"Good. I approve. And Michel, I don't think you have to much to worry about." Lanie assures Michel.

"I do as well. Alright, we are all done. We just need to cook everything." Announces Betty. They clean the kitchen up a bit then they all grab drinks and sit down in the living room, making themselves at home. And, they also bring quite a few wrapped up boxes and bags.

"Did you all seriously bring presents? You shouldn't have. Look at all you have brought all ready." I say, gesturing to the kitchen.

"We also are your family and showed up unexpectedly at your doorstep." Insists Lisa.

"Well, I got you all things as well." I say, grabbing all of the small boxes. Spencer and I then sit on the love seat. "You all can open up these first. Fortunately, I haven't gotten to shipping these out yet." I hand them all the tiny boxes which contain $50 visa gift cards.

"Thanks Maddy. But you shouldn't have done anything." Says Lisa. There is several more thank yous.

"Now Maddy, open this up. It's from me." Lily tells me, handing me a sparkly gold and silver bag. It's filled with all sorts of things. An array of colors of nail polish, about every different kind of carmex made. She knows I love carmex. There's also a adorable cream knit beanie with a similar chunky knit scarf, along with another knit burgundy scarf. I can tell she had fun shopping for this.

"This is really sweet, Lily. I love all of it."

"Good. I'm glad." Then, Lily gets a cute watch from Lanie, probably trying to keep her on time. She's commonly late for things. We all exchange gifts. I end with the things from Lily, a iTunes gift card from James, a Visa gift card from Michel, a Barnes and Noble gift card from Kate, and money from both Betty and Lanie. We have another drink and chat a while, all catching up. They all seem to accept Spencer, liking him, actually.

"The dinner should be about ready." Announces Betty as the oven begins to beep.

"I only have four chairs." I tell them. Oops.

"Oh well. We can just eat in here." Says Michel. The dinner ends up being delicious, even considering how Lanie can't cook, and she's the first to admit it. Even Spencer eats quite a bit, and he doesn't tend to eat to much.

"Thank you all for the wonderful dinner." Spencer thanks my family.

"Of course Spencer. Our pleasure." Says Lanie.

"So, I can't help but ask, but did you two get anything for eachother?" Lily asks.

"Well, Spencer got me this." I say, showing them all the locket, opening it up as well.

"Aww, that's so adorable." Lily says.

"What a gentleman." Lanie approves.

"It is very pretty." Says Kate.

"Maddy, what did you get Spencer?" James asks me.

"I just got him some of his favorite things. Books, socks, a sweater, bow ties, a scarf, and a coffee mug."

"I will never understand you two, no matter how hard I try. But, I have to say, you to are a match made in heaven." Says Michel.

"They are. And Maddy, can you play something for us?" Asks Kate. Her and Lily love music, and are fascinated when I play.

"Of course. How about Carol of the Bells on the cello." We all walk into my music room. I sit on the stool, getting ready to play. I begin, and I play by memory. By the time I'm finished, everyone seems quite impressed.

"You did fabulous Maddy. Spencer, have you ever heard her play before?" Asks Betty.

"Just piano" he tells her.

"She's amazing."

"Yes. Not just at music." Says Spencer. I swear, he says the sweetest things, and he can make me believe them.

"Okay. These two are just to adorable. Let's go eat dessert." Suggests Lily.

"Well, we definitely have enough of that. Spencer and I were baking as well. We made cookies, brownies, Carmel corn, and chocolate covered pretzels." We all fill plates of desserts because we can't possibly choose just one. We are all extremely full by the time we are done with dinner and dessert. I make hot chocolate and we all sit around by the fire.

"Well, I suppose we should get going." Says Betty.

"I suppose. It's getting late and I don't want to be driving to late. Call us tomorrow so we can meet up." Lanie says.

"Alright. Goodbye. Merry Christmas." I say to everyone, hugging them all.

"Pleasure to meet you all. I hope to see you tomorrow." Spencer tells my family.

"Goodbye. Merry Christmas!" Says Lanie, and they're out the door.

"Wow. That was sure a twist in events." I say.

"It sure was. But I'm glad I was able to meet your family."

"I'm really glad you did as well. And I really think that they like you Spencer. That really makes me happy."

"That's a relief. Instead of a dad to get through, I have your cousin."

"He's always been really protective of me. He's like an older brother. Well, they all are like siblings to me."

"I'm really glad you're happy Maddy."

"Spencer, are you happy?" I ask, truly curious. And with all of my heart, I hope he is.

"When I'm with you, yes, I am. I've just had a lot happen to me, and you have as well. So you know just as well or better how hard it is. A few years ago, I was kidnapped by a man, Tobias Hankel. It was for only two days, but it definitely affected me. He tortured and drugged me with a narcotic painkiller, Dilaudid. I became addicted. I'm not anymore, but it was a tough time. The team really helped me out."

"You've been through a lot Spencer. And don't worry, I won't ever judge you. You can tell me anything. So I want to tell you about something that I just think you should know. I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety when I was 13. I've never really gotten over it. I've just been taking pills. But Spencer, you make me so happy. And you have no idea how much you've helped me."

"I will never judge about anything either. I feel I can trust you. And now that I've learned, I have a really difficult time trusting people. And for both of us, life's been cruel. But now, it's giving us relief. A break. A good thing. And I think that this good thing is here to stay. That it won't be taken away from us. And Maddy, I love you."

"I love you too, Spencer. And I am so glad I'm able to say that." I tell him my feelings. We eventually just wrap our arms around each other in a hug and rock back and fourth to the music. We stay like that for quite awhile, and I really don't mind that. I'm just breathing in his scent and absorbing the fact that I'm with Spencer. My music has faded off into not so Christmasy songs. The one that is playing is quite fitting, actually.

'When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need,
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse'

Then the song eventually comes to an end

'Lights will guide you home,
And ignite your bones,
And I will try to fix you'

Just a few minutes after the song comes to an end, my phone begins to ring. I look to see that it Hotch calling.

"I need to get this" I tell Spencer, reluctantly pulling away. "Hello" I say, answering the call.

"Hello. We have a case. Come down as soon as you can." Hotch tells me.

"Alright. No need to call Reid, I'm with him."

"Okay. Goodbye." And he hangs up the phone.

"We have a case." I tell Spencer, disappointed as well.

"Alright. I'll get my things together and we can just take your car." Says Spencer. He grabs his bag and we
