Song for the chapter: Rewrite the Stars-- James Arthur and Anne Marie
"Bianca, wake up you lazy twat," Draco hisses as he shakes the girl's sleeping body. Bianca's eyes flutter open to the sight of her pale cousin, practically glowing in the darkness of the room. "About bloody time. Dad says we're leaving for the world cup in two hours, so be ready."
"I'll be ready don't worry," she mumbles rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. She glances at the clock on the wall and it reads noon. "Bloody hell, it's already noon?"
"Yeah sleeping beauty," Draco teases then turns to leave. He's almost out the door before he turns back to add, "Oh and dad said to be on your best behavior, we're sitting in the Minister's box."
'Oh perfect!' Bianca thinks. Going out with her cousin and his family always felt like a chore. When she's with them, they must present the perfect family image. Even though Lucius and Narcissa are known ex-Death Eater's, they are still so concerned about family image. They want to appear as a put-together, pure-blood, powerful family. It almost physically pains Bianca to have to pretend to agree with their social views. She doesn't like bringing attention to herself though. It's hard enough to keep a low profile when she is the daughter of Bellatrix Lestrange, one of the most infamous dark witches. So, she tends to keep quiet in public.
Bianca pulls herself out of her thoughts and decides to focus on getting ready for the World Cup. She climbs out of bed and crosses the room to the private bathroom. One of the only perks of the Malfoy family is they're loaded. Every room in the house is a master bedroom with its own private bathroom. The house itself is rather depressing on the inside. All of the walls are stone and the Malfoys don't add any color to bring life to the house. Just a few antique paintings and expensive sculptures to showcase their money.
Bianca's room is what they consider the eyesore of the house. The walls are filled with her paintings of various landscapes and music artists that she listens to. Most of them are muggle artists which are even more despairing to the Malfoy's. In the corner of her room, is a massive bookshelf filled with art supplies, books, and vinyl records. On the wall opposite the door, various plants are sitting on my windowsill, and a few hanging from the ceiling. The bedding is a rustic orange color with several decorative pillows and Bianca recently began painting an accent wall with various shades of orange just to add some color to the room. Lucius and Narcissa don't know about that one quite yet.
Bianca smiles to herself as she pulls her long, curly black hair into a bun. She looks into the mirror above the bathroom sink. Usually, Bianca uses a straightening spell on her hair to try to get rid of any resemblance to her mother. However, she's not allowed to use magic outside of school. The resemblance nearly stops at the hair anyway, her skin is tan compared to the rest of the family, who is stuck with pale, sickly-looking skin. She shares the same dark eyes, her face was much fuller though, it lacked the sunken-in look many of her relatives possess.
It takes Bianca about an hour to shower and get ready. She's just finishing up putting on mascara, which is about all the skill she has with makeup when she hears a knock on her door. "Who is it?" she calls.
"Draco," her cousin responds through the door. She tells him he can come in and he goes to sit on her bed.
Bianca and Draco's relationship can best be described as interesting. They understand each other more than anyone in the world because they grew up together. Bianca sees the pressure the Malfoy's put on Draco. She experiences more of the same thing, but she is more rebellious than her cousin. He is too focused on getting approval from his parents. It's why he's such a prick at school; a classic case of the bullied becoming the bully. Typically when they're at school they try not to interact because it can be confusing. Especially since Bianca gets along well with the Weasley twins and their family. Meanwhile, Draco despises Ron and Ron's friends.
"Bianca, you're spacing off again," Draco says pulling the girl from her thoughts. It has become sort of a common thing for Bianca to get lost in thought and distracted from the present.
"I'm sorry, what were you saying?" she apologizes coming to sit on my bed next to Draco.
"I was wondering if you could grab my textbooks while you're at the shops with Juniper tomorrow," Draco responds. Juniper is Bianca's best friend. They met during their first year at Hogwarts. Juniper's parents are both ex-Death Eaters serving life in Azkaban. The two girls bond over that unfortunate fact.
"Yeah just make sure to give me your book list," Bianca smiles, answering her cousin before her mind can get carried away again.

When Bianca and the Malfoy's arrive in the Minister's box, the girl spots the Weasleys, Harry, and Hermione already sitting. She feels like her stomach drops to her feet. She has been trying- and mostly succeeding- for years to make sure her school and personal life do not mix. This could end poorly. Especially when Bianca is supposed to be on her best behavior in front of the Minister. Lucius locks arms with Narcissa and leads the way to greet the Minister while Draco and Bianca follow behind.
"Draco," Bianca whispers, grabbing his arm and distancing them from his parents even more so they can't hear. "Look who else is in the box with us."
He looks around and then spots them. "Oh shit, what are you gonna do?"
"This is my son Draco, he's in his fourth year at Hogwarts, he plays on the Slytherin quidditch team you know," Lucius says presenting the two of them to the minister. Lucius's voice is loud and confident as he boasts about his son. I'm sure everyone else in the box can hear by now, which means they know Bianca's here. "And this is Bianca she's uh Draco's cousin...." Lucius trails off. We've definitely had this situation before where the Malfoy's are ashamed to introduce Bianca Lestrange because they're scared of people's reactions. This didn't bother the girl much, the fewer people that knew the better.
"It's great to meet you, Bianca! You two are in for an amazing time, this is going to be quite the game!" the Minister smiles. Bianca relaxes a little knowing that he isn't going to press for any further questions.
Lucius says a few parting words to the Minister and the quartet makes their way towards their seats. They were located closer to the back, so Bianca probably wouldn't be able to say hello to the twins. It's disappointing because she hasn't been allowed to see them all summer. Bianca watches as Fred and George nudge each other and point down at the field. Their contagious laughs carry up to where she's sitting and it makes her miss them all the more.
Suddenly, Fred turns around and his eyes lock with Bianca's. A wide grin breaks out on his face and he nudges George again then whispers something in his ear. George turns around as well, his face bright red from the cold. They both wave at the girl, flashing wide grins and she reciprocates. It's not the same as getting to hug them and catch up, but it's better than nothing.
"My dad's looking," Draco mutters to Bianca from the right. She steals a glance down the row to see Lucius's eyes glaring daggers at the twins.
When they follow Bianca's gaze, their smiles fade a little when they see the look he's giving them. They turn back to Bianca with an understanding look and flash one last smile before turning back to the field. A part of the girl is pissed that this is what her life is, but the bigger part of her knows there's nothing she can do. She's just grateful that her friends are amazing enough to understand and they still love her despite it.
The game began and Bianca noticed the twins stealing glances back at her every once in a while and she responded to each one with a smile or an ugly face. About halfway through, George announced rather loudly that he had to use the restroom and Fred said he did as well. She watches as they make their way to the top of the box and once they were nearly in the doorway Fred motioned for her to follow them. She nods then turns back to the game and lets some time pass before excusing herself to use the restroom as well. She received a knowing look from Narcissa, but Lucius was too busy kissing the Minister's ass to notice.
When Bianca left the box, she sees Fred and George immediately outside of it. She's met by a huge hug from both the twins that practically knocks the wind out of her.
"You better feel special," George says as he pulls away. "We're missing one of the best games in our lifetime to see you."
"Oh trust me I feel like the queen herself," Bianca says flipping her hair over her shoulder and smirking.
"Woah I just noticed your hair's different," Fred says grabbing one of the curls that had slipped out of Bianca's and pulling it straight before letting it bounce back into place. "Wicked," the twins say together in awe.
"You've never seen my hair curly before?" the girl asks grabbing a strand and twisting it between my fingers.
"We barely see you outside of school dingbat," Fred answers ruffling her hair.
"You'll have to visit us at the borrow some time," George smiles. "Mum makes some mean soup."
"As if the Malfoys would allow that," Bianca answers with a shake of her head with a sad smile.
"I mean you could always say you're staying with Juniper," George suggests not giving up on his plan. Banca placates him with the idea for a while and Fred smiles along.
"We probably should get heading back though, you guys are missing the game and everyone's going to start wondering where we are," Bianca says after some time had passed.
She let the twins go sit down first and waited a little while before following. No one says anything and Bianca watches the rest of the game content with the little time she got to spend with the twins. After the game, she's exhausted and ready to curl up in bed. The Malfoys, take their time leaving the stadium, talking to all of their friends as they pass. Once they finally do make it back to where the portkey is, the Malfoys have decided they wanted to stay at the campgrounds because some of their friends have an extra tent and were planning on celebrating tonight. They tell Bianca she is free to go home, but make sure the house is clean for them tomorrow. She rolls her eyes at the last part, she is not the maid, it's not like the house is ever anything less than spotless anyway.

The next morning Bianca is awoken by the sound of someone pounding on the front door. She throws on a hoodie and slippers and makes her way downstairs to the front door. Looking through the peephole, she sees her tall, blonde, best friend Juniper. She unlocks the door and swings it open tackling her in a hug. Juniper hugs back but it's not as exciting as usual.
"Who's here?" Lucius's voice asks from the top of the stairs. This scares the girls a little, especially since Bianca thought the Malfoy's were spending the night at the campground last night.
"It's just me sir," Juniper answers politely stepping inside so she can be seen.
"Good morning Miss Graves," Lucius says in his usual stuck-up manner before going back to his bedroom.
Bianca rolls her eyes at him before turning back to Juniper. "Sorry, he's just being his usual cranky self. So Juni, what do we have planned today?"
"Well, I was thinking we could go into Diagon Alley and look for some dresses. My parents were telling me this morning that Hogwarts is having a ball this year," Juni explains.
Juniper agrees that they should look. The girls go to Bianca's room so she can get ready to leave. Juniper is standing in the corner choosing a vinyl to play when Bianca's owl Lady flies through the window. She drops a copy of the Daily Prophet before heading over to where her cage is and eating.
Juni picks up the paper and then gasps. "Oh my gosh, I can't believe the ministry let this article about the Cup get out."
"What are you on about?" Bianca asks going over to her to see what she was fussing about. Of course, The Prophet would write about the World Cup. It's one of the biggest events of the year.
On the front page is a picture of the Dark Mark glittering in the sky. This causes Bianca to gasp as well. The girl was only about two years old when Voldemort was defeated, so she doesn't really remember the Dark Mark, but knew that Voldemort and the Death Eaters would put it in the sky after they had murdered someone.
"What the hell happened?" Bianca asks grabbing the paper and reading for herself.
"You mean you weren't there Bianca?" Juniper asks in complete disbelief. "Blimey, I thought you already knew about it. It was horrible! There were Death Eaters there in their masks, making the muggle family who owns the campground float in the air. They were setting fires and ruining people's tents. My aunt had to go to work early today to try to help sort everything out, it's been a mess. The worse part is though, they think Barty Crouch- you know from the ministry?- they think his house-elf is the one that cast the Dark Mark."
Bianca is shocked to hear about this. Although she hasn't seen the Malfoy's yet today, she can't help but wonder if they had some part in this. It would explain why they're home so early. Would they really do something like this though, especially after they barely escaped getting sentenced to Azkaban themselves? She wonders what Draco knows...
"That's completely insane," Bianca says after a second of processing her thoughts. "That poor muggle family. Granted they won't remember any of it, it still must've been horrible for them."
"I know, I didn't see them, my aunt just told me to run straight for the woods. All I could hear around me were screams of terror and the sounds of all the tents being blown up. It was one of the scariest things I think I've ever experienced Bianca."
"I can't even imagine Juniper, I'm so sorry," Bianca says pulling her best friend into a hug. Juniper was about 5'9" and Bianca only 5'4", so she towered over the girl, but Bianca did her best to comfort her.
After hugging for a little bit Juni says she's "done being sad" and is ready to shop. Bianca leaves a note telling the Malfoy's where she's gone and heads to the train station with Juni. The girls take a train to Diagon Alley and begin their hunt to find a dress. They go at it for hours; Bianca thinks that Juniper of course looks great in everything, but the girl herself is having a hard time choosing something. By the time the girls get lunch, Juniper has chosen a long, fluffy, baby blue dress that looks amazing with her blonde hair, and Bianca is left empty-handed.
"Don't be discouraged babe, I will find you something if it's the last thing I do," Juniper promises. She has always been the queen of dramatics.
"I don't doubt you will," Bianca smiles then her face falls as she thinks of her mom. "Sometimes I just wish my family was more functional. I could be dress shopping with my mom and spend the day bonding with her. She'd have to convince me to buy a dress she picks out that I pretend to hate but secretly it's perfect for me."
Juni gives Bianca a sad smile and grabs her hand from across the table. "I know Bianca, trust me. You don't know how many moments of my life I've wished my mom was there. It's so hard, and I know it doesn't fill the void but you have me and so many other people that care about you."
"I know and my mom made the choices she did and I can't change that. I know all of this deep down, sometimes I just can't help but wish that things were different."
Juniper gives another sad smile and says, "Oh don't we all."
