A/N: Welcome! Hope you're here for some fun because this first chapter is pretty full of laughter and party time, literally. I recommend to listen to the song Sonic will sing as you're reading that part in the story. Might make it sound better. ^^" Or listen to it before hand. Either way, the credit goes to the wonderful artists who drew the following images below that were used in this chapter. Please enjoy. Stay Tuned!

"Sonic is doing what?"

"He's throwing a celebration party in the Resistance Hall."

Shadow and Amy were sitting together near a koi pond, with Amy throwing little bread crumbs towards the fish. The fish quickly swam to the surface, munching to each of the pieces of bread being thrown into the water.

"It's barely been a month since we took down the Eggman Empire, and already the faker is celebrating with a party," Shadow sighed. "Eggman is still in a coma and we do know when he will wake up. We need to be ready."

Amy leaned softly against his shoulder, also letting out a small sigh. The sun was beginning to dim over the horizon as the fish also seemed to settle on the ground in the pond, getting ready for their slumber.

"So, should we not go?" She asked.

"I don't want to...But we should. The least we can do for the resistance is to be there for them during their celebration," Shadow replied as he closed his eyes, enjoying a small gentle breeze flowing by. "Then again...We already have problems to deal with."

"Shadow...We already have members on the lookout for the emeralds ever since they separated themselves away. Luckily, Silver found one, remember?  Even Sonic hasn't rested on that idea just yet," Amy tried to reassure Shadow.

"The faker is throwing a party in celebration of losing the emeralds. Fantastic. What about Gadget? There's still no word from him on his quest to search for Infinite," Shadow said as he opened his eyes and stared somewhat in anger at the ground. He still wasn't use to the whole leadership idea, even after Sonic made a return back to the resistance. "And on top of that-"

"The Phantom Ruby is still missing. I know, ulimate life form," Amy said rather tiredly as she stood up, surprising Shadow as she walked away from him, resting her back against an oak tree.

Shadow decided in that moment to let his pride and ego go down. Ever since the resistance won the final battle, Shadow and Amy decided it was the perfect time to get together, only that they've kept their companionship a secret from everyone else. The problem was, only one person seemed to make an actual effort in the relationship.

Shadow was always busy with the clean-up crew and keeping track with data from the other cities in Mobius, while Amy...Well, basically in charge of those small clean-up crews in small parts of the cities. She would always try to invite Shadow to do these cool, new things together just to finally have some fun, but he would never have the time or even the effort to do so. Even today, on one of Shadow's days off, was he still worrying about work.

Shadow's ears drew back as he stood up as well, calmly making his way towards Amy. He rested his back on the opposite side of the tree, sighing in defeat as he knew that what he said were starting to hurt himself.

"Rose?"

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry. I've been...I've been so worried with trying to keep this world safe from evil. I don't want you or anyone getting hurt. Not again..."

After a few moments, Amy stood upright as she walked around and stopped in front of Shjadow. She gave him a small sad smile as she placed a palm on his cheek.

"It doesn't hurt to have a little fun sometimes," She said. Shadow blushed lightly, chuckling a little by her kind gesture, even though he did act like a total douche to her.

"I'm still surprised you picked me over him."

"You know..." Amy paused before she nuzzled herself against his chest fur. "I'll tell you someday, I promise." Shadow smiled to himself as he held her close, not wanting to let go. She just seemed to remind him of Maria all the time, and he loved it.

"I've decided that we're going to that party."

It was the last thing he said to her before they ran off happily to get themselves ready for what seemed to be the craziest idea in the world.

******************************************************************************************

The Resistance Hall had been decorated, from head to toe, with warm colored lights. They looked like if they were being lit by fireflies. At least that's what Amy giggled to Shadow as the couple entered through the tall, thick doors.

Although Shadow hesitated at first, Amy helped pick a beautiful black outfit fit for himself, being outline with a shiny golden touch. Amy was a whole different situation. Shadow couldn't stop smiling and looking at her. She just seemed way too beautiful to be there at the party with him as her date. The different shades of purple helped bring out the colors of his outfit and her eyes. Even the rose in hair seemed like it was challenging her beauty towards the other females dressed there as well.

"Woah, Shadow! Is that really you, buddy?"

"Hm?" Shadow turned around, immediately cringing his face as he was met with Sonic and Tails. "Oh...It's you."

Sonic was wearing a beautiful creamy white suit, with a blue buttoned up shirt sticking out. He gave a small wink to Amy as she giggled, while Shadow crossed his arms as he would normally do. Tails looked like he was dressed much simpler than all of them, going for more of a school look.

"Tails. I don't mean to be mean, but why do you look like a small cute school boy?" Amy said with a another giggle.

"Oh! Hehehe...Well I uh...I couldn't find anything else to wear. I remembered the party very last minute," Tails said with a blush and an embarrassed chuckle.

"So, Shadow....Buddy. Could I have a word with you?" Sonic asked, in a bit of a serious tone. Shadow cocked his eyebrow slightly, but shrugged in agreement. Sonic and Shadow broke away from their mini crowd as they walked towards the snack table, getting greets from the other members on their way there.

"What's this about?" Shadow asked, a little concerned at Sonic's sudden change in tone from fun to serious so fast.

"There's rumors of the Phantom Ruby's location. Apparently, some of our members have tracked it to be somewhere in the the Sunset Hollow sector," Sonic commented as he grabbed himself some punch and started to drink some.

"The ruby? It must have fell from Null Space, just like we said, but I never would have thought all the way to Sunset Hollow," Shadow said as he looked at the ground to analyz his thoughts.

"Yeah, it's a little suspicious. I planned on telling you today so I can go check it out myself," Sonic said as he lowered his cup.

"By yourself?"

"I don't want anyone getting hurt if there is an ambush attack on me. Plus, I'm quick enough to dodge that stuff, you should know that out of all people," Sonic said with a small chuckle, but Shadow didn't think of the comment as a laughing matter. "Well, can I?"

"I really think you shouldn't go alone. Something could happen to you without your knowledge," Shadow replied as Sonic rolled his eyes. "Hey, I'm serious."

"Shadow, buddy, I'll be fine. Jeez, maybe I shouldn't have told you."

"Maybe instead of throwing a party, you could have been looking for the emeralds all this time, but here we are, faker," Shadow said angrily, his temper rising rather quickly. Sonic's ears perked up as he narrowed eyes at his rival.

"Excuse me, what?"

Shadow growled slightly as he looked at Sonic, glaring at him with disapproval and anger. "You heard me. Do what you want. I don't care. Just stay out of my way."

Sonic huffed as he looked away, rubbing the back of his neck, taking a few moments to calm himself down. Shadow looked away, clenching his fists as he tried his hardest to also calm down his temper.

"Amy looks...Pretty tonight," Sonic said as he broke the tension and silence between the two. Shadow's ears perked up as he listened to Sonic's comment as his own eyes looked at his mate. She was in quite a chatter with the other members, even sharing some laughs with Silver and Knuckles.

"Yes. She does."

"Wow. She's really grown up, huh?" Sonic said with a small sad smile. Shadow nodded as he noticed from the corner of his eye, looking at Sonic's sad expression.

"Haven't heard from Sally?"

"No. She hasn't responded to any of my ways of trying to talk with her. I know she just wants to stay away from me to protect me, but...It's hard if I'm here without her," Sonic said as the shadows from the lights seemed to cover his eyes momentarily. Shadow was about to place a hand on his shoulder before Sonic seemed to change his mood all of a sudden.

"Well! Time for the entertainment, Shadow. I better get up there. Hold this."

Before Shadow could protest, Sonic quickly put his drink in Shadow's hand, running off to the stage. Shadow shook his head at Sonic's attitude as he made his way back to Amy.

"Everything well?" Amy asked with a smile. He gave her a smile, not wanting to worry her with work.

"Just fine. Everything is just fine."

"Alright, alright, alright! Can I have everyone's attention up to the stage please?" Sonic's voice echoed in the room as he was using a microphone. Everyone slowly stopped their conversations as they turned to their attention to the blue hedgehog on stage.

"I have a special performance here for all of you, presented to you by yours truly," Sonic said with a smirk as some girls in the audience seemed to cheer. He chuckled to himself as he signaled to the Chaotix as they volunteered to be the band. Espio was playing a piano as Vector decide to take up a trumpet, Charmy on the drums.

The trio began their performance, starting off in a catchy tune as Sonic tapped his foot with hie eyes closed. He opened his eyes as he started to Singh his song.

"There's a place you gotta be, a thousand leagues beneath the sea, and it's waiting over here for you and me," Sonic said as he did a small twirl.

"Gonna take you for a ride, but first you gotta come inside. Get ready for the party's on tonight!" Sonic said as he snapped his fingers, while Vector, Espio, and Charmey matched his singing with their tune.

"So, pack up, cash in, and get ready to begin. Toss the dice, once or twice. Baby, we're winning, ain't no sense. So, relax and just unwind. Leave your worries all behind. Get ready for the party's on tonight!" Sonic finished as he chuckled to himself and started to move with the beat. The audience, including Amy and Shadow, started to clap with the beat. Espio, Vector, and Charmey even preformed a trio solo with each other to really give the performance a pleasant twist. Sonic cleared his throat as he was prepping himself to start singing again. He even threw a small red flower to one of the girls in the front, getting more girly squeals.

"Small town blues will melt away. Even the big fish come to play. Guaranteed, you'll have the best night of your life," Sonic said with a wink as he seemed to have the audience swoon over him for just a brief moment.

"Grab your tux and shine those shoes, tell your friends to spread the news. Get ready 'cause the party's on tonight! So, pack up, cash in, and get ready to begin. Toss the dice, once or twice! Baby we're winning, ain't no sense. So! Relax and just unwind, leave your worries all behind. So, get ready! It's party time!"

As the band was finally preforming their last stretch of music for the performance, they started to finish up strong.

"It's party time!" Sonic yelled out happily as the band finished with a boom. The audience cheered in amazement as Sonic and the Chaotix took a bow. Even Shadow was giving Sonic a smile with a thumbs up, surprised at how well Sonic managed to pull of this performance.

It seemed like nothing bad was ever going to happen to the inhabitants of Mobius ever again.

At least....That's what they thought....
