Hands on her knees Sumire tries to catch her breath. Clenching her fists she wills the tears away. She had to find him.

Standing up straight again her feet move. Running from street to street, alley to alley. She had to find him. Emerging onto a semi busy street, Sumire frantically searches. Seeing a woman walking down the same side of the street as herself, she runs to her.

"P-please! Can you-"

Sumire stops, the woman passes right by her as if Sumire wasn't even there. Puzzled, Sumire looks around again luckily finding another person out. A man this time, his brief case overflowing with papers sticking out of it. Despite her first encounter Sumire runs towards the man as well.

"S-sir! Can you please help m-"

Once again Sumire is passed by. She backs into the shadow of an overlapping building. Hidden from everyone she begins to sob again.

"W-why can't they see me?" she wonders out loud.

There were no more people on the streets. It must have been very late into the night but there weren't even any passing cars. Sumire looks down at her clothes again, still surprised to see that where she had been stabbed a big chain resides.

Stepping out of the shadow of the building, Sumire steps underneath a nearby street lamp. The column of light that shines over her and her eyes building up tears makes it nearly impossible to see. Turning, Sumire starts to run down the unfamiliar street again. There had to be at least one person that could see her. One person that could explain what happened to her.

Rounding another corner Sumire collides with a hard surface. The collision resulting in her falling onto the hard ground beneath her. She wipes the flowing tears away from her eyes with the back of her hand.

"You alright kid?"

A deep but smooth voice rings through Sumire's ears. Looking up she sees a man with shaggy blonde hair. He wears a green kimono with a black robe over it, clogs on his feet, and an unusual green and white striped hat that covers his eyes.

Sumire's eyes widen a bit, but the tears are already starting to reform in her eyes.

"Y-you can s-see me?" she asks in a feeble voice.

The strange man nods and squats down to offer Sumire his hand. Taking it she can't help but start to cry for the millionth time. Just at the thought of someone being able to see her lifted her spirits.

"Um, could you tell me your name? I'm Sumire Saito." she says, her voice picking up just a bit.

The man gives Sumire a small grin that looked more like a smirk before speaking, "My name is Kisuke Urahara, a humble old shop keeper."

Sumire nods and looks down for a moment before saying his name. It sounded odd coming from her small lips. She looks back up towards Kisuke, already feeling the tears coming. She wasn't sure if she should even ask. But if there was even the slimmest chance of her finding her father, she would take it.

"Um, Mr. Urahara.....I was wondering if you could-"

"So your a soul then?"

He interrupts her. Her brows furrow as she begins to tell him not to interrupt her before pausing. Registering what Kisuke had said, Sumire looks at him with a puzzled expression.

"A soul?" she asks.

So she doesn't know.....Kisuke thinks to himself. He looks down at the Chain of Fate on her chest. It has been severed but how long has she been roaming around as a soul?

"Tell me Sumire, what exactly do you remember about the past day or so?" Kisuke carefully questions.

Sumire furrows her brows in contemplation. It takes her a moment to think before she looks at the ground. She wasn't sure if she should tell him. Maybe he would think she was crazy. But it was worth a try.

"Um.....well, my mom was doing the dishes like usual but she had been acting sort of strange lately. My dad was still at work and he was late coming home. I remember my mom and dad screaming, and I went to check on them.." Sumire pauses.

"Then all I remember is seeing my dad on the floor and my mom coming towards me with a kitchen knife......and then nothing. The next thing I knew I was running around trying to find my dad."

By the time Sumire finishes explaining new tears have reappeared, tracking down her cheeks in small streams. She feels a hand resting on her shoulders and looks up to see a blurry Kisuke. He wasn't smirking anymore which made Sumire's stomach drop.

"I'm sorry to say this so abruptly Sumire, but from what you told me it sounds as if your mother murdered you and your father. I'm sorry but your not alive anymore."

Even though Kisuke said it in the only way he knew she may understand, Sumire still couldn't comprehend what he'd said. "W-what?"

Kisuke sighs, before crouching down to her height. "You are what is called a soul, or a plus. You're the spirit form of someone who has died, and this chain?" He pauses to gesture towards the chain protruding from Sumire's chest. "This is the Chain of Fate, it's what 's tying your soul to your living body but yours had been severed. Meaning you can freely move around this world but for a soul like you.....it isn't best that you linger here any longer or that chain will start to corrode and over time you will be corrupted."

Kisuke stops again and waits for Sumire to respond so that he knows she is listening. Sumire's eyes are almost lifeless and dull. None of this making much sense to her at the time. None the less she nods for Kisuke to continue.

"Eventually you would turn into a monster who eats other souls like you, it's called a hollow. But luckily I can send you somewhere that you can live peacefully and not risk your chain corroding any further." he finishes.

Sumire stands there for a moment, hands at her sides. Suddenly she looks up to take in her surroundings. There were still no cars passing by or any people either. The street lamps casting a yellow glow over the both of them. She didn't see anything even remotely resembling a monster or Hollow as Kisuke had called it. But something in Sumire's gut said that she could trust this man.

"W-where is this place you were talking about?" she requested.

Kisuke smirked again, "It's called the Soul Society, it's where other souls are sent to live peacefully or become something called a Soul Reaper. In order for me to send you there, I need to perform what's called a Konso."

With that Kisuke takes the hilt of his cane and begins to press it onto Sumire's forehead. "Wait!" she shouts, grabbing the cane.

Kisuke steps back at Sumire's outburst but frowns once he sees the tears running from her eyes. "This is what had to be done Sumire." he puts it simply.

"B-but.......I still need to find my father...he has to be here somewhere." she whispers.

Kisuke knew that could be a possibility, but it could also be possible that Sumire's father hadn't died from his wounds; or could already have been corrupted. He could sense that Sumire was strong and there was a promising chance of her becoming a Soul Reaper one day. She had taken all the information well for someone her age and would mature the same way. So he couldn't let this hinder her crossing over.

Leaning down again Kisuke rubs the top of her head, "Sumire there is no other way for you to stay here, your chain has been severed and corrosion has already set in. But there could be a chance that your father has already moved on." he stops.

Sumire sniffles, "R-really?"

Kisuke nods, feeling slightly bad for lying to the poor girl. But it had to be done. "There are more people like me in this world of the living, so there is a strong chance that he was sent to the soul society."

Sumire thinks for moment. She assumed Kisuke was right, it did seem possible with everything he'd told her. But something was eating at her, like there was so much more to know. Despite that lingering feeling of not knowing everything Sumire nods, "Okay."

Kisuke says nothing as he places the tip of his cane onto her forehead again. A blue shining light emerges around Sumire. As Kisuke takes his cane away from her head, an emblem shining brightly stays against her skin. Sumire begins to feel light.

"T-thank you Mr. Urahara. For everything." Sumire spoke.

Kisuke nodded while watching as Sumire's soul begin to sink into the blue circle around her, "Your welcome, feel free to come visit if you ever become a soul reaper kid."

He watches as her soul is fulling sunk into the blue light. A hell butterfly replacing the spot where Sumire once was.

"That was stupid, even for you Kisuke." a male voice sounds out.

Kisuke looks down at his feet to see Yoruichi in her cat form. Kisuke squats down to pet her before smirking at the creature. "She'll be back and by then Sumire will be one of the most skilled Shinigami in the 13 squads." he vouches.

Yoruichi scoffs, "How can you be so sure?" she questions.

Kisuke stands back straight. Setting a hand on top of his hat he smirks again, "Because she has unfinished business here."
