The sound of heavy footsteps scuffed against the carpeted floor. Jung-kook had been pacing around in his room for what seemed like an hour. He had opened this morning's paper and saw a nuptial announcement on its back page. It was his daughter's.

Last time he heard from Eun-hye was about a couple months prior when he randomly called her out of the blue. She was curt with him, not divulging much of her life at Alex's, but she assured his father she was well. But he hadn't seen his daughter since she left over six months ago, and now he's not even invited to her upcoming wedding in the new year.

To say that Jung-kook was disappointed was an understatement. He hoped that things would've become better after their heads cooled. Maybe he was expecting Eun-hye to run back into his arms like she did when she was small, after she got in trouble in school or had a tiff with her mom. Should he now assume then that their father-daughter relationship had come to a halt, that it was beyond repair, that she didn't even have the courtesy to send him an invitation?

Mrs. Jeon must have the same thought when Jung-kook found his mother storming into the hall.

"Jeon Jung-kook!!! Where are you?!?"

The frantic man was half-way down the stairs when he saw a mad woman pointing at him with a folded paper.

Ah, shoot! She knows.

"What's the meaning of this?" Mrs. Jeon bellowed as she opened the page to show a picture of her granddaughter and a man standing beside her.

Jung-kook swallowed down an imaginary lump of saliva before speaking. "I'm not entirely sure either."

"Don't give me that bull crap of an excuse," Mrs. Jeon quipped. "You should know, you're her father."

"We haven't been in touch for some time now," Jung-kook mumbled.

"That's the problem with you. You are spoiling your kid too much, letting her saunter off with that dirt bag. You should've kept an eye on her before she causes any problems."

Oh, you mean, I should've beat her boyfriend until he can't stand on his two legs? Right in front of her eyes? Jung-kook wanted to retort, but didn't have the courage to do so, and he hated himself for it.

"You better fix this or else..." Mrs. Jeon's threat hung in mid-air. She didn't need to finish her sentence for Jung-kook to realize that there'll be a price to pay some way or another.
