The h/c-haired girl cheerfully addresses her camera. Although she may seem like her normal self, the way her heart was pounding in her chest and her hands involuntarily shake– when they normally are ever so still– gives away the nervousness emitting out of her. Filming herself felt strange, almost mechanical, as if her body remembered the motions, but her mind was still adjusting to the idea of facing an audience again.
"Updates, updates," she says to the camera while tapping her chin, "Wellll.. mentally these last few months have been rough. Dealing with a lot of criticism out of nowhere, definitely took a toll on me. But I had a good support system, and I'm really thankful for all my friends, family, and Kenma for being there for me."
"As some of you may know, I also just recently successfully launched my very first video game! Honestly, I thought the game's success would be doomed because of all the surrounding drama. I'm surprised that it's been selling well."
In the last couple of days, Y/N and Kenma had visited a handful of game stores looking to find her game on the shelves, but everywhere they went it had been out of stock. To say the two didn't feel an immense amount of pride would be a lie.
"We need to get going!" A voice yells out in the background. The jingling of the keys getting unlatched from its hook rings in the girl's ear. The sound of the front door opening and a pair of shuffling footsteps follow.
"I'll be there in a sec!"
As if sensing the departure of their humans, the two cats loop around the girl's feet, rubbing and purring against her legs, as if in an attempt to prevent her from following in the man's suit. The action causes the girl to smile and bend her legs to give affection back to her loving pets. She turns her attention back to the camera, now panning its lens to the two furballs.
"Another quick update before I head out," she says softly to the camera, as if telling those who would watch later a secret, "Me and Kenma are parents now! Meet Yuki and Kumo."
Yuki continues to rub herself against the girl, while Kumo gets curious about the camera and starts pawing at it. The opening of the front door momentarily catches the cats' attention before Kenma's voice calls out once again.
"Y/N, hurry up, we're going to be late."
"Okay! Give me a sec, I'm coming!"
She shuts off her camera and gives Yuki and Kumo one last pet each before hurrying to the front door and slipping her shoes on.

The two enter a nice restaurant where the rest of the girl's family is already seated and waiting for the couple's arrival. The couple walk towards the table, hands interlocked, and take seats right next to each other. The girl's mother is the first to greet the two.
"There's my favorite child," the older woman coos, causing the younger woman to smirk at her brother.
"I always knew I was the fav-"
But just as quickly as her ego inflated, her mother cuts her off, instead addressing someone else.
"Ken-chan, how have you been?" the woman gives her children a mischievous glance, before painting a smile towards her beloved daughter's partner and her son's closest friend. Kenma smiles at the family's antics, while the two siblings can only deadpan at their mother. He always felt right at home with the Kuroos.
"I've been good, how about you and tou-san. No more people giving you trouble at home?"
"No, no. After you hired security for us no one dared to show up," she hums, "Although you really didn't need to do that."
"Of course he did, Kaa-chan!" Tetsuro bellows out, "He's gotta make sure his in-laws are well taken care of."
"Oi, Tetsuro," His father calls out, "Quit teasing poor Ken-kun, he won't want to be friends with you if you keep it up."
He smacks Testuro's back with a big laugh, which causes his son to straighten up in his seat. He ignores the younger man's whining about the slap hurting and instead focuses his attention on his youngest child.
"Y/N, my sweet girl, I am so proud of you," He says warmly, "I don't know how you managed to pull it off so quickly, so soon after your graduation as well."
He looks underneath his seat, shuffling to pull something out from under it. When he finally has a good hold, he pulls out the bouquet of flowers and a gift bag and places it in front of his daughter.
"Here's a little something from your Kaa-chan and I."
The girl shines a bright smile towards her parents before opening the bag. Inside were two boxes, one smaller and column-like, while the other was larger and flatter. She decides to open the larger of the two boxes to reveal a beautiful pearl necklace. Her stomach flutters with recognition once she sees the lustrous orbs.
"This is Oba-chan's necklace!"
Her dad nods his head, still smiling at his daughter. This time her mom speaks up.
"Akiko and Tetsuro have already been passed down some sort of family heirloom, so we only thought it was fitting."
"Thank you, I love it." Feeling giddy, she prompts her boyfriend to put it on for her. No words were exchanged between the two as he clipped the jewelry onto her neck. Kenma watches as she runs her fingers over each pearl one by one and delicately adjusts the necklace. He could tell that the gift was precious to her and smiles fondly at her delight.
The girl didn't spend a lot of time with her grandmother as she had shortly passed just a few years after she was born, but recognizes the necklace from the old family photos that lined the halls of her childhood home. Just by wearing the necklace, she feels as if her connection with her grandmother deepened.
"I also have a gift for you," Tetsuro says grinning from ear to ear, but the tone of his voice didn't quite match the expression on his face, "Kenma and I actually worked on this together."
"Ah but wait- I didn't open the other one yet."
"Actually, we might hold on to this a little bit longer," her mother chimes in, swiftly grabbing the remaining box out of the girl's hands before she could protest. Tetsuro takes that moment to place a thick manila folder in the girl's hands as a replacement.
"Hmm.. What's this?"
Looking at the tan folder, she slowly opens it and spills its contents atop the restaurant table. Her fingers trembled as she flipped through the pages, her mind struggling to process the weight of what she was looking at. Private messages. Social media posts. Legal documents, those being of her parents and Kenma, all of it made her slightly nauseous.
She takes a deep breath to calm the storm raging in her mind. She's curious. Who wouldn't be. The source of her torment for the past few months was right in front of her. There's a sense of satisfaction she feels, that maybe she'll finally feel as if she has control over her life once more. No more worrying about judgemental stares down the streets or criticizing headlines tarnishing her and Kenma's names.
"How did you two get all this?"
"Lots of digging, jumping through rabbit holes, and backtracking the internet," her brother replies nonchalantly, "I told you I'd find out who started this mess."
"I'm handing these papers to our lawyers today and sending out a statement, I have some documents for you too if you feel the need to sue or press charges," Kenma proposes, "Don't feel pressured to, you don't have to if that's what you want. I'm sure karma will get them anyway."
"That's right. There's evidence against these people for libel, instigating and organizing a riot, property damages, and much more," Tetsuro chimes in.
"I appreciate it you two, thank you," she says, still a little bewildered at the sight in front of her, "You both always do your best to keep me safe. I'll think about what you said."

After the family finishes their meal celebrating the young woman, the couple meets with their lawyer and hands over the papers. In the end, Y/N does press charges against the group who organized the riots and within the next few hours the couple's statements caused them to blow up the internet once more. Now the girl, once a trending topic of criticism, was painted a victim of extreme fan culture. Although she still feels the need to shy away from the spotlight, she can at least say that the troubles that have plagued her mind these past few months are on the better end of being resolved.
