This chapbook is a collection of poems based on some of the daydreams, dreams, and nightmares that I have had over the years.

To be honest, I shy away from abstract, surreal, and meta writing. They have their places, but I have always felt that they have been easy ways to appear smart, witty, or deep ... in many ways, too easy. That is why I have always tried to write realistically in all of my poems, prose, and plays.

That being said, I think that it makes sense to write surreal poems based on my daydreams, dreams, and nightmares. After all, these writings are mainly based on the imagination and what goes on in the subconscious mind. I hope, therefore, that you not only see what I saw, but also feel what I felt.

Finally, here are a few points to keep in mind while reading:

1. The poems "Daydreams ...," "Dreams ^^^," and "Nightmares!!!" are not based on any that I have had. They are general overviews of those concepts.

2. The books mentioned in "Why Can't I Just Take Them?" are those in the Mysteries of the Unknown series from Time-Life Books.

3. The poem "Was I Abducted, Too?" was based on a dream that I had after watching a TV show. It was the episode "Abduction" of the revival of The Outer Limits. It was about an alien who kidnapped five high-school students and told them that they had to decide who among them would die or else they would all die. It aired on August 18, 2001. It was the sixteenth episode of the seventh season, and the 148th overall.

4. The newspaper in "What Kind of Contest Is This?" is the Daily News from New York City.

I hope you enjoy this collection!
