"What if you spelled it out in the sky?"

"That's not going to work she probably won't see it in time."

"Yes she will."

"Let's just rule that one out. Let's go with something else."

"What about if you tweeted about it?"

"Great. Technology has ruined everything."

"I'm just trying to give you ideas. Don't shoot the messenger."

"Let's just talk about it later."

"Alright, alright."

Thump, thump, thump.

"Courtney answer the goddamn door it's for you!"

I flew up in my bed as I felt a pillow hit my face.

"Huh?" I looked around.

My dorm mate, Meghan, scowled at me from her bed. "Whoever is at the door has been there for the last five minutes calling your name!" She snapped.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes. "Sorry," I said awkwardly.

Thump, thump, thump.

"Coming!" I called. I fixed my messy rat nest hair quickly then ran to answer the door.

I yanked it open and was pleasantly surprised at what I found.

"Awe, Courtney's in her pyjamas!" Ashton giggled.

I rolled my eyes playfully and looked back at my alarm clock in my room. "It's 7:13 in the morning you idiots," I smiled at Calum and Ashton, who stood at my door.

I heard Meghan gasp from behind me. "You're both from 5 Seconds of Summer! Oh my gosh!" She ran up to the door and pushed me out of the way. I flew back and landed softly on my bed with a light grunt. I blew my orange ombré hair out of my face.

"Hi!" She smiled at Calum and Ashton. "I'm Meghan, I love your band!"

Ashton smiled politely. "Well, thank you. We're sorry we were pounding on the door. We really needed to steal Courtney for a bit- we hope you don't mind."

I stood up and fixed my pyjamas. "I'll be ready in five," I called past Meghan.

Calum nodded. "We'll be in the parking lot,"

The two smiled, and Meghan closed the door. She whipped around to look at me.

"You didn't tell me you knew them!"

I blinked at her. "I didn't know I was supposed to," I said awkwardly.

"You need to drag me along to one of your hang outs- I need to meet Luke so he can fall head over heels for me."

I nodded slowly. "Right, I'll do that. I've got to get ready."

I turned and headed into my closet and picked out a simple grey shirt with some black skinny jeans with rips in the knees. I put on some white high top converse and French braided my black-orange ombré hair. After quickly scribbling on my makeup, I grabbed my bag and keys, and saw Meghan blinking at me, all dressed up.

I looked at her. "What?" I asked.

"I'm ready to go!" She smiled.

"Yeah, maybe not this time, Meghan. Sorry. I'll drag you along to the next one." I said, as she pouted, then I headed out to the parking lot.

I spotted Ashton and Calum in a black Maxima. Ashton was head banging to whatever song was playing inside the car.

I tapped softly on the window and he smiled at me. He lipped something I didn't make out and pointed to the back door. I stared blankly at him.

He nodded, and rolled down his window. I immediately recognised Weightless by All Time Low playing. A song I actually recognised.

"Hop in," Ashton giggled.

"Right." I pulled open the backseat door, and buckled in. (a/n safety first children) and Calum pulled out of the parking spot.

As soon as the song was over I broke the silence.

"So, where are you taking me?" I asked. "And why so early in the morning?"

Calum chuckled softly. "Only the best place ever. Get ready to go to a fun only zone!"

"But why did you take me so early?" I asked.

"Simple," Ashton commented. "So were the only ones there."

"Do you feel like telling me where there is?" I asked.

"Nope," Ashton and Calum said in unison.

I huffed and crossed my arms. "This better be good. You interrupted my sleep," I noted.

Calum laughed.

After five minutes of random aimless conversation, we pulled into a mini shopping centre.

"What on Earth are we doing here?" I asked.

"Close your eyes," Ashton giggled.

"Pardon?"

"Close your eyes!" Ashton laughed. "You can't see yet, it's a surprise!"

I sighed playfully and placed my hands over my eyes.

After a about a minute the car stopped and turned off.

"Keep your eyes closed," Ashton said, as I heard the doors open.

The two helped me out, with my eyes still closed, and turned me towards wherever we were.

"Three, two, one!" Calum and Ashton yelled.

I removed me hands from my eyes and chuckled when I saw where we were.

"You two idiots woke me up from my sleep and made me get ready so we could go play lazer tag?" I laughed.

Calum and Ashton nodded and smiled happily.

"You two are dorks," I laughed and rolled my eyes playfully.

"But we'e your dorks," Ashton winked.

We headed inside Lazer Zone! and just like Calum and Ashton had predicted- the place was dead empty, besides the guy working at the front desk.

Calum galloped up to him. "Laser tag for three please!" He smiled.

The man took Calum's credit card, and gave us all day passes.

"You guys do realise I have classes today, right?" I noted.

"Yeah, but don't you have late night classes?" Ashton asked.

I nodded. "Fair enough. Let's play!"

We headed into the room where we got to suit up, and they let us choose our names.

"What are you calling yourself?" Ashton asked, as I clicked the enter button setting my name.

"Lightning." I smiled.

"I don't know what to call myself," he frowned.

"How about Titanic?" I asked.

"Why that?"

"Because you're going down!" I laughed.

"Oh, roasted!" Calum laughed.

"What's your name?" I asked him.

"Thunder." He grinned.

"I kinda like the name Titanic, that's my problem." Ashton laughed, entering his name.

When we were all set the man ran over the rules and showed us a layout of the map.

"Because there's only three of you there are three teams, not two." He said, looking down at his sheet. "Thunder, you're team blue. Titanic, you're team red, and Lightning, you're team yellow. Each team's base is on opposite sides of the arena. The arena is two stories high. Yellow's base is on the top level, and blue and red bases are on the bottom level. To start the game, each team member must touch their base with their laser gun."

We all nodded. He pulled open the door to the arena- and we heard loud rock music playing. "You have twenty minutes- good luck."

We all charged into the arena and headed to our bases.

I ran across the dark wood flooring and spotted both Ashton and Calum's bases, then climbed up the ramp to my level.

Spotting my base, I ran up and poked it with my gun.

As soon as I did a pre-recorded woman's voice came on. "Welcome to Lazer Zone,Team yellow. Welcome member Lit-ning." She pronounced my name incorrectly and I chuckled.

I kept my gun on the base until whichever one of the boys finally got to their base.

The lady's voice boomed throughout the arena. "Welcome contestants. The game will begin in 10," she began to count down. "9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1."

The bright fluorescent lights dimmed and the harsh rock music turned off. The arena went silent. I peeked over the side ledge, and looked down to the bottom level.

After a couple of seconds, I spotted Calum peek out, looking around cautiously.

I quietly aimed and pulled the trigger on my laser gun. The cheesy shot sound boomed out and Calum's blue light suit flashed white. He looked around rapidly for who shot him.

I roared with laughed. "And Lighting strikes!" I boomed.

Calum looked up at me. A devilish grin spread across his face. "Oh, you're going down!"

He charged to the nearest ramp and started coming for me. I ran deeper into the upper level and ducked behind a wall. The whole arena was like a maze.

I heard Calum's footsteps grow closer. I held my breath, as he stopped walking.

I poked my eye out from behind the wall and saw his back turned from me. I quickly shot him and hid before he could see me again.

"Courtney...." he taunted.

I poked out again to see Calum's gun faced right on me. Before I could shoot him he shot my right shoulder and my suit flashed white.

Before I could react- Calum's suit flashed white too.

He looked at me confused, and we locked eyes.

"Ashton," We both said in unison.

"You take left I'll take right." I directed. Calum nodded and ran down the left ramp. I chuckled as I ran down the right ramp, in the direction Calum had originally come from.

As I ran down the ramp I spotted Calum's base.

I paused thinking.

Before charging towards Ashton, I fired at Calum's base until I heard the lady's voice say, "Base Destroyed."

I then ran down the wood floor of the bottom level towards Ashton's base. I spotted a opening in the top level above me and realised that Ashton had shot Calum from directly under us.

The quiet arena all of a sudden seemed creepier. I couldn't hear Ashton or Calum running, and I grew a tad nervous.

I ducked behind a wall and peeked out, looking for either boy.

Not a sound.

I took one step out and the wood creaked. I ducked behind the wall again as I immediately heard a laser gun fire.

I poked my head out as I saw someone duck behind a nearby wall. I quickly ran out behind a separate wall as quietly as I could.

I approached around back, and spotted Ashton and Calum from behind the wall, quietly waiting. I shot both of their backs and they turned around in shock, as their suits flashed white.

"And Lightning strikes again." I said simply. Without another word, I charged off and headed back up a ramp to the top level. I now cautiously looked for the hole in the ground- but I couldn't find it.

I headed back to where Ashton had shot Calum but there was no hole in the ground.

"What?" I wandered aloud.

Maybe it was just my brain. I shook the thought and ran down the opposite ramp and headed towards Ashton's base.

I crept out towards Ashton's base.

No sign of either boy. My heart hammered as I started to attack Ashton's base.

"Not so fast," Ashton's voice rang.

I turned my head, and saw Ashton standing with his laser gun pointed at me.

"Shoot again, and I shoot you." He said.

I paused, not moving my gun from the base.

We stood in silence for a two count. Without lifting my eyes from Ashton, I shot as his base one more time.

"Base destroyed."

I shrugged at Ashton. "Lighting destroys everything." I gave him a cheesy smile before running off.

After another Five minutes or guarding my base, the lady's voice called into the arena again.

"Game over in 10, 9, 8, 7,"

"Argh!" I heard Calum and Ashton yell. The charged up the ramp and fired at my base.

My suit vibrated. "Base under attack." It rang.

I flinched and shot Ashton's gun and Calum shot at me, but I ran behind him and shot the back of his suit.

"3, 2, 1."

"WHOO!" I cheered. "My base didn't get destroyed, no, no, no!" I danced around, my laser gun still in my hands.

Ashton and Calum laughed as we exited the arena and took off our suits.

When we headed back into the lobby, I noticed more people had come.

To teenage boys were racing with the car racers and three young kids were gathered around the claw machine with their parents. Three people were stood watching the television- which I learned was live streaming our game from in the arena.

One of the men laughed. "Lightning was on fire."

I laughed. "Well, thank you."

The man that was at the counter came lit with a small microphone.

"Alright, I have stats from our last game." He said.

The teenage boys from the car racers turned to listen as well as the three of us did.

"In third place we have Titanic, with a total of 2, 639 points." he said.

Calum and I laughed as a grumpy Ashton collected his stats sheet.

"Told you that you would go down," I laughed.

"For second place, with a total of 2,647," the man started. Calum and I stared at him intently. "We have Thunder."

Calum mumbled a bit and collected his sheet.

"And in first place, with a total of 4,392 points, we have Lightning."

"Whoo!" I cheered as I collected my stats sheet.

"I thought I had you beat," Calum sighed.

"It's all in you name, Calum."

He cocked his head. "What do you mean?"

"Thunder always comes after Lightning."

We played four more games with other people as well as the three of us. Calum and I won on team blue once, and Ashton and I won as team yellow once.

At around noon the boys drove me back to the college and I headed into my dorm room.

Meghan sat on her bed, scrolling around on her computer. She glanced up at me. "How was 5 Seconds of Summer?" She asked.

I laughed. "It was just Calum and Ashton," I said, throwing my bag and keys onto my bed. "And we played laser tag."

"Why didn't you invite me?" She demanded.

"I didn't even know we were playing laser tag," I noted. "It was a surprise."

She shrugged. "I guess there's always next time."

I hopped onto my bed, and looked through my bag for my phone.

Instead I found my stats sheet. I smiled slightly as I looked it over.

I happily pinned up the stats sheet to the wall, knowing that today wouldn't be the last of Lightning.
