I bobbed my head up and down to the beat of the song that was blasting from my speakers as I finished packing my bags for what will be my "forever home" for the rest of the week. I turned to look towards the door as someone slammed it open, turning back to my packing once I saw who it was.

"Are you almost done?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest and tapping her foot impatiently. I simply ignored her question and did a little twirl in time to the music. She rolled her eyes.

"Turn that racket down," she demanded sternly.

"Nope," I replied, popping the "p". I heard her huff from where she now stood behind me.

"If you won't turn it down, then I will just have to turn it off," she said in an annoyed tone, reaching over and turning off the speakers. I just shrugged with my bag still turned to her while continuing to pack my things. Disappointed, she huffed again. All she ever wants is a reaction.

"If you don't want the nice man to come up here and change his mind about this, then I suggest that you finish up and get yourself downstairs now," she said in a finalizing tone that was obviously meant to end the conversation and clicked out of the room. I rolled my eyes and turned, pushing the power button on the speakers. The music proceeded to blast at an increasing volume as the power booted up on the speakers. I zipped up my suitcase and grabbed my duffle bag, stuffing the rest of my belongings into it. I looked around the room and shrugged, realizing that all that was left was my speakers and phone. I unplugged my phone from my speakers and shoved them -carefully- into the bag. I plugged my headphones into my phone and shoved it into my pocket, slinging the bag over my head and onto my shoulder and grabbing the suitcase. I walked out of the room without a single glance, knowing that I will be back in at the least a week. I shoved my headphones roughly into my ears as I neared the bottom of the stairs, not wanting to hear the chatter of the fellow orphans who know very well how soon I will return.

I kept my head down as I walked into the main hallway where I knew the man who was adopting me would be. I whipped my head up in anger when someone ripped out my earphones. I saw that it was Harali, the girl that has led the other children to believe that I'm cursed or something along the lines of it.

"What do you want?" I hissed, grabbing one of my earphones from where it hung loosely by my side and putting it in my ear opposite to her so that she couldn't pull it out quite as easily as she managed the first time. She scoffed.

"Haven't you learned your lesson by now? I was sure that you would have after I kicked your fat ass," she sneered at me in an ugly manner. I rolled my eyes.

"Really? Because by that logic, you're the one who should have learned your lesson by now. Because if I do recall, I'm the one who kicked your little bitch ass," I shot back, shoulder-checking her to get past her and further into the main hallway.

"Why the hell do you think you could have possibly won that? Did you see yourself afterward?" she said, obviously wanting control over the situation. I simply rolled my eyes and muttered under my breath,

  "Did you see yourself afterward?"

"What did you just say to me?" she sneered again, grabbing my arm and yanking me back towards her.

"Just the truth," I said, yanking my arm back out of her grasp and starting to walk away again.

"Don't walk away from me, I'm not done talking to you yet," she said, yanking my shoulder back and digging her nails into my skin where my jacket had fallen down from all the dumb yanking she apparently feels like doing.

"Well it's too bad that I'm done talking to you then, isn't it?"

"Oh, will you shut up? You don't want another incident like last time, do you?" she attempted to hiss at me, only managing to sound like a dying gopher. I gave her a sarcastic chuckle.

"What? Me putting you in the hospital? I actually wouldn't mind that, no,"

"Nova! What did you just say?" Ms. Jahle exclaimed from behind me. My eyes grew wide before I forced them to relax again. I turned around and gave her a blank look.

"Nova, I told you to never speak of that incident again," she scolded me, reaching her hand up seemingly to strike me on the cheek and then stopping herself and brought her other hand up as well to grasp my face firmly. I kept the blank look on my face, knowing that if I looked scared that she would only hold me down while Harali got an unfair shot at me. That's the only reason that I had any marks on me at all from our last fight to be truthful. Although their plan backfired as it only egged me on even more and led to me breaking out of her grasp. You are already aware that she ended up in the hospital.

"Do you know that I could tell that dimwitted man about every stupid little thing that you've done and he would run out of here so fast and only think of you again when he wakes up screaming from seeing your demon face in his sleep?" she hissed at me, spitting in my face as she spoke. I remained silent, simply shaking my head to rid my face of her grasp. She glared at me and reached for it again but missed as I stepped back. She opened her mouth to speak,

"Why you little demon! Harali, get over here and teach her a lesson, I'll be in my office shredding the adoption papers," she smirked at me and turned to walk away. I refused to let any reaction make it's way to my facial expression.

"Excuse me miss, but what's going on here?" I heard a voice from behind where Ms. Jahle stood in front of me. I stayed silent, turning to try and sneak up the stairs to my room so I could climb out the window until tonight so that I won't have as much temptation to put Harali back into the hospital.

"Uh, Mr. Clifford, what are you talking about?" Ms. Jahle asked him in her faux-sweet business voice.

"I think you know what I mean, what just happened in here?" the man spoke again. This time, I placed the voice as that man Michael from yesterday.

"Oh, good heavens! I surely don't know what you are implying, I was just talking with Harali and Nova here," she replied, her voice getting higher almost a whole octave with each word that she spoke. I rolled my eyes and started making my way up the stairs.

"I believe that I heard something about shredding adoption papers," Michael said bluntly. I heard Ms. Jahle take in a quick, shallow breath.

"I-I, surely I don't know what you are getting at," she fumbled for her words. I had turned to watch the exchange and now saw Michael roll her eyes at her response.

"I'm sure you don't," he said sarcastically. "Now, if you don't mind, Nova will be coming with me now," he said, turning and walking away. He flicked his wrist back to me and then in front of him again, showing that he wanted me to follow him. I walked back down the few steps that I had managed to sneak up and grabbed my bags, following him. When I looked back Ms. Jahle and Harali were still frozen in shock. Well, until Harali caught my gaze with hers and raised her hand to flip me off.
