Steve's heart was racing thinking Eddie wouldn't pick up but then the phone stopped ringing and he heard a familiar voice on the other end "hello? Wait is this Steve?"

There was a hint of surprise and relief in his voice as if he didn't think Steve would take him up on his offer.

"Yeah..um this sounds weird and all but can I see you? I need to talk about something but you have to promise no jokes or teasing or any of your Eddie-ness" Steve rambles on thinking he should just hang up the phone then and there.

He looks down smiling at himself. Was Steve Harrington actually nervous? "Uh yeah I mean where do you wanna meet? You can come to mine you know where I live" he says a little too excited hearing Steve's voice on the other end of the phone. "And what even is Eddie-ness?" He laughs

"Just you being you, you know when you're making jokes every two seconds. I need to have a serious conversation with you and you won't help if you're winking at me every two seconds" Steve sighs staring at his wall as he talks.

Eddie laughs and nods "okay okay I promise Harrington I will be completely serious, no flirting no matter how much it'll hurt me to do so" he laughs softly

"Okay I'll be there soon" Steve says, quickly hanging up the phone and getting in his car driving to Eddies shitty little trailer park knowing this whole conversation is going to be nothing less than shitty.

When Steve gets there he's banging on eddies trailer like there's a house on fire. Come on eddie answer the fucking door. He thinks to himself as he's about to walk away the door swings open.

"Someone's eager to see me!" Eddie says with a smirk with his arms wide open. "Come on in sweetheart you know where the bedroom is" he winks

Steve sighs "remember I said no eddie-ness?" He rolls his eyes walking in closing the door behind him. "This is kinda serious" he mumbled walking to eddies bedroom and sits on his bed.

Eddie nods realising how truly scared Steve looks "yeah what's up?" He asks raising an eyebrow sitting beside Steve.

"Well, I don't exactly know how to word this, I can't explain it..it's not something I'd ever think I'd have to say out loud" he says quietly looking at his hands.

"Before you start crying man, I'm not good dealing with peoples feelings the best I can do is make you something to eat" Eddie says genuinely worried from the look on Steve's face.

"I'm not going to start crying for fuck sake but this is serious, are you gay Eddie? Like this isn't a some kind of weird joke I just need to know are you into guys?" Steve blurted out, he keeps his eyes on eddies messy floor not even attempting to make eye contact with him.

Eddie seemed taken back by the question. This is what he'd feared would happen, Steve had caught on and was going to beat the shit out of him or worse and leave him all together. "Wha- Steve are you going to jump me or some shit?"

Steve quickly shakes his head "what? No of course not, my best friend is a lesbian for fuck sake and you knew that!" Steve says getting frustrated now. All these emotions were building up inside his head and he felt like he was going to explode.

Eddie sighs and covers his face with his hands. The last thing he wanted was for Steve to leave him, he was scared and afraid to admit anything.
"Why are you asking me this?"

Steve sighs looking at the boy with his face in his hands "I don't care, I just need to know because I'm trying to have a serious conversation with you. This is why I said no jokes, I'm not joking Eddie." He sighs sadly

He slowly moves his head looking up at Steve "would that be so bad? If I did, you know..like guys?" Eddie wanted the floor to just open up and swallow him whole so he wouldn't have to have this conversation or possibly losing Steve Harrington, a guy he was madly in love with.

Steve shakes his head, he knew Eddie was gay and he was trying to lead up to tell him he was too but he was scared, absolutely terrified. "It's not a bad thing, of course it's not"

Eddie pauses for what felt like years then looks back at Steve "okay well maybe I do but that doesn't have to change anything between us, does it?"

He shakes his head quickly "it changes nothing Eddie, absolutely nothing I just wanted to know because I didn't want your feelings to change about me if I told you I was too" he says quietly looking across the room at eddies record player so he didn't have to see the expression on eddies face.
