"Alice!" Aro says

Kalen watched as Alice and Jasper approached the Volturi. When they got close enough the guards grabbed them.

"My dear, dear Alice, we're so glad to see you here, after all." Aro said

Kalen rolled his eyes.

"I have evidence the child won't be a risk to our kind." Alice demanded and held her hand out to Aros

"Let me show you." She said

Aro nodded and the guards released her.

"Brother?" Caius asks in shock

Alice walks up to Aro and he takes hold of her hand, as Aro read her thoughts.

The Cullen's tended as the ordeal went on for what felt like hours. But Kalen only had eyes for Alec who looked heartbroken.

They just stared at each other. It seemed as if the world had fallen away at that very moment and it was just them.

"Now you know. That's your future. Unless you decide on another course." Alice snapped

Kalen blinked and looked at Garett a little confused. Garett shrugged his shoulders.

"We cannot alter our course. The child still poses a grave threat." Caius said

"But what if you were sure she could remain concealed from the human world? Could we leave in peace?" Edward challenged

"Of course. But that cannot be known." Caius snapped

"Actually, it can." Edward said and turned around

Alice turned to face them and Kalen saw two people walking out from behind the trees they walked towards Alice.

"I've been searching for witnesses of my own among the Ticuna tribes of Brazil." Alice explained

"We have enough witnesses." Caius snapped

"Let him speak, brother." Aro interjected

"I am half human, half vampire. Like the child. A vampire seduced my mother, who died giving birth to me. My aunt Huilen raised me as her own. I made her immortal." The man spoke confidently

"How old are you?" Bella asked

The man turned towards them.

"A hundred and fifty years." He said

The Cullen's looked hopeful.

"At what age did you reach maturity?" Aro asked

"I became full-grown seven years after my birth. I have not changed since then." He explained

"And your diet?" Aro asked curiously

"Blood, human food. I can survive on either."

Kalen saw Marcus sigh.

"These children are much like us."

"Regardless, the Cullens have been consorting with werewolves. Our natural enemies." Caius said

Kalen rolled his eyes. The man would do anything for a fight. Aro turned towards his army.

"Dear ones, there is no danger here. We will not fight today." He explained

Some of the Volturi look disappointed, mostly Caius and Jane, but they turn and quickly leave.

Kalen left Garett's side and walks slowly towards Alec who had paused running halfway to look back. Aro glances at Kalen then Alec then Alice.

"Such a prize." He whispered then turned and vanished into the forest

Behind him Kalen heard cheers and sighs of relief.

"We have them on the run. Now is the time to attack." Kalen heard Vladimir shout

"Not today. " Carlisle said

"You're all fools! The Volturi might be gone. But they will never forgive what happened here." Stefan screamed at them

Kalen turned his head and saw Vladimir and Stefan approaching him.

"Will you come?" Vladimir asked

Kalen shook his head.

"It seems it's time for me to end whatever this is and go home to him,"

Sometimes Kalen wished for a simple life. To live. To die. To grow old.

In the end he could never have it.

He was in California. He sat next to a lake. His feet where in the water.

He was waiting.

Every second that passed by was every second he knew he was closer.

Time seemed to go slower then usual.

When finally.

A man was behind him.

He looked tired.

Tired of being heartbroken.

Kalen turned his head and smiled.

"Hello my love"
