Why are you so shy? Show yourself. Why are you confusing me?
Does the red that colors you so rage with anger or yield for love,
Why are you so shy? Show yourself!
Why do you burn with passion when a woman is kilt, but go soft when a man touches you?
Why are you so shy? Show yourself please,
Are you a delusion,or a make up of what I think you are? Come out, I am stopping my heed.
Why are you, heart, so shy? Show yourself please, I am begging,
Or are you just as crazy as the woman you haven in...

She wore a wild smile, walking down the empty hallways with her hoodie at her eyebrows. Ticking names off the list in her head of the people that had tormented her in the past as she slipped little notes in their lockers. Robyn was never a bad kid, or atleast in the teacher's eyes... Think about the quiet off kid that sits in the back corner of the room in class, or the antisocial freak that makes you feel unpleasant without really saying much at all. That was Robyn.

She entered the classroom, sitting at her desk far away from the rest of the class as she let her gaze fall upon the girl in the middle of the room. Although it seemed like she was completely focused on her work, she was fully aware that she had Robyn's full attention... She placed her weight on her clenched fist as her elbow rested on the table. Looking at the clock on the wall which hands never seemed to move, she became fidgety, tapping at her foot and nibbling at her pen lid as her eyes shone brightly.

Finally, the bell for the end of class rang throughout the classroom causing everyone to jump up and make their ways out the classroom. Following the large crowd, she made sure to stay behind her target as she made her way to her locker to equpt herself for her next class. She met eyes with her to get an eye roll and weave flip in return, Robyn narrowed her eyes at her not liking the amount of respect she was getting from her fellow classmate... She snatched her textbook quickly causing all her books to fall out which was exactly what she wanted as it gave her more time to stay by dear Trina's side....

Trina looked down to Robyn, who made sure to look as hopeless as she could, laughing at her as she slowly picked up her books in succession. She rolled her eyes as Trina purposely pushed a book back down from her locker driving her to bend back down to pick it up once again. "Just hurry up and read the damn note.." she whispered to herself as she came back up to see the ripped paper in her hand. She was careful to hide the slight smirk that was emerging on her face, but anyone could see that her eyes now shone brightly with excitation...

As Trina proceeded to read the note the surprise she once showed soon turned to absolute horror as she looked up to see Robyn with a grin she just couldn't hide. She ran down the hallway, turning at a bend so fast that her books fell right out of her shaking hands causing people to look back at Robyn as if something serious had happened. Once the attention had subsided, she closed her locker and chuckled lightly as she brought her hand up to wave her fingers in her direction knowing that Trina wouldn't be back for some time.

And she was right.

Trina was never seen in that school again....

"So you're telling me Robyn, this "boss" if yours is really going to just hire me becuase of our success in the past?" He asks her dubiously as they made their way round the small house in front of them. Robyn nodded at his sarcastic summary of what she had told him just a minute before, she didn't understand why he was so doubtful of it all, she would've thought that Chris would go through hell to get this job right after she'd say the word "money". But it looked like the Chris she thought she knew had changed....

"Yes Chris do I really have to spell it out for you... Why are you so nervous?" She asked him as she placed her two fingers on a identification scan before pushing at the door, allowing Chris to let himself in showing her annoyance to his continous worrying.

"I'm just not with the whole idea of a criminal having a boss... seems a bit. Unusual" he said making sure she had heard him by putting emphasis on the "unusual". She huffed; the sound of his continous complaining was starting to irritate her.

"Well tell me when you went from Jules Winnfield to Sherlock Holmes!" She barked in response as if he had insulted her, causing him to smirk at her quick temper.

"Ok crazy I'll stop talking now..." he said while putting his hands up to show he had.

She rolled her eyes at him as she carelessly barged into the second room after the stairs. They walked in to find a short Mexican man, sitting behind his little organized desk with his fists folded as if he already knew we were coming...

"Well good morning, Robyn" he said blankly before turning to Chris and giving him an uncomfortable glare.

"Morning boss... sorry to intrude on such short notice" she apologized spotting his obvious hints of exasperation, she sat down knowing it wouldn't be right to irk him any further...

"It's ok I suppose... Who is this friend of yours?" He questioned now placing his full attention on the man who was now looking past him at the display of jewls he had proudly layed out on the wall behind him.

"Oh, this is Christopher, my childhood intimate" she nodded towards Chris who slowly brought his attention back to the man behind the desk and giving him a slight wave.

"How delightful... Well I am sure you didn't just come here to show off your little friend..." He said purposely bringing his arm to his chest to see the time causing the sunlight passing through the curtains to bounce off the golden wrist watch he had on creating a blinding ray in Chris's face. Surprisingly... Chris didn't even blink once, completely enticed by the expense of the piece of jewellery on his wrist.

"Of course not..." she narrowed her eyes at in annoyance for him stating the obvious, "I came to ask about getting Chris a job here" she said a little less eager as his sarcastic tone was crushing her excitement towards the whole thing.

He chuckled slightly as if she was joking, reaching into his draw to pick up a lighter and a cigarette. He lit it up before taking a long drag and carelessly blowing its disgusting exhaust in her face,

"I don't know baby... Maybe the contract you signed will tell you?" He grinned at her before swinging his legs over and top of his desk in a quick motion.

"What the hell is wrong with me having a partner? Chris and I have been in the buisness since we could talk, why exaxtly can't you trust me with him?!" She exclaimed standing up to face her boss, eye to eye. A relaxed smirk grew on his face as he laid back on his chair,

"I know damn well miss Robyn Fenty don't wanna be cutting her wage with nobody..." he said in a questioning tone with a puff at his cigarette even though he knew the answer,

"Ay mi amigo I don't need your stupid pay..." Chris suddenly jumped in turning his attention to the conversation they were both having. He stood behind Robyn before folding his arms, he wasn't too fond of the tone he was holding with her and he wasn't gonna pretend he was either...

"W- Cutting wage?! Please! I make enough money to keep you and your bitch asses living and breathing everyday, Pablo! Besides you ain't do any other shit than sit there and act physco... I shouldn't even have to work for you when all I do is pay myself!" She spat at him in a fluster as he sat there motionless with the same small grin plastered on his face,

"You must have forgotten my role in this job Robyn. I am your protector. I give the names and addresses of people to kill, what times is most appropriate to catch them, and hack their security systems all for your safety. I might look like I just stay in my house all day and throw the names of people I don't like in your face but atleast you don't get your ass caged up for it!" He shouted what also wasn't a shout at all, he had a very sinister vibe to him which seemed to fly right past her,

"I just don't get it... I'm loyal and I've worked for you for years! I ain't done shit wrong, killing your stupid enemies and accepting your cheap pay and you won't even let me work with a close friend?" She practically screamed banging her fists on the desk as Chris pulled her back to calm her down. Her green eyes were now burning with rage as she stared at her boss in anger, she had never felt this way about him before and she couldn't believe it took Chris to open her eyes for her...

"So was my last employee..." he shrugged,

"No.. we killed him yesterday. You said he betrayed you, didn't he?" Chris asked with a raised eyebrow not liking where this was going.. The guy threw his back having a fit of laughter at the silence he has brought upon them both.

"Now you two tell me where in the hell you gon find another nigga like me, ready to employ you for a job like this on the streets of West Virginia!" He cachinnated at the stale faces of the two young people in front of him. It was now, Robyn knew that all these years she had been played out by a physco Mexican...

"He ain't betray me... he just quit. And that's something you would never want to do!" He chuckled calming down from his sudden outburst...

"Or what?" She tested him narrowing her eyes once again at him,

"Well it seems like you're about to see for yourself..." he sighs pushing away from the desk before spinning round on his chair. They both grunted as Robyn went into her back pocket to dig out her last assignment that was stapled to a copy of her contract.

"You're right... I quit"

>

"So what we gon do now miss Robyn Fenty" He said sarcastically adverting to the disrespect her boss had shown to her. She rolled her eyes before looking out of the window in thought,

"I mean we could just go solo..."

"I like that" he smiled before doing a left turn on the road to home. She looked at him in confusion before motioning to reverse as if he had forgotten where she lived,

"I know where you live mop head" he chuckled at her and she groaned at him whilst shaking her head. "Mop head" was the nickname Chris had adopted for her from the messy cut she used to rock back when they were younger, she couldn't believe he had the audacity to bring it up after she made it clear to him that she hated it... She slapped him playfully and they both laughed at each others childlike behavior,

"So where we going then?" She asked him as they stopped at a red light,

"McDonald's... go thief us some dinner" he breathed before looking to her with a smile she knew very well,

~
Robyn smiled at Chris at his offer to buy her something to eat after she told him that none of her parents were home. Really, she just wanted an excuse to stay with him longer than they normally would've. Chris's company was comforting to her during her times of distress due to her father's death. She hadn't told him about her any of her parents mishaps, she didn't feel the need to. She had faced up to the fact that people come and they go in their own time so there was no point in spending time on grieving. She felt a strong hand pull her from entering to the little McDonald's they were standing in front of, she looked to him in confusion.

"We ain't buying they food Robyn..." he chuckled at the sudden confusion on her face,

"Why? You broke?" She asked him and he laughed at the seriousness in her tone,

"I ain't never broke Robyn! We just gon grab us some hot food from somebody walking out... for fun" he smirked pulling her into him to keep her relaxed as he noticed her tension. He knew that she wasn't used to doing things like these as they'd usually pickpocket or steal from stalls, but today he was going to teach her something new..

"But what if we get caught..." she asked with big solemn eyes. He smiled before shushing her to pay attention to the family who were about to a make their ways out of the restaurant.

"We won't if we run... I got you ma" he reassured her stroking through wild baby hairs of her forehead with one hand, "Now Robyn... when you do these things you don't ever wanna steal from a lil kid. Them shits evil! You can take a hair off they head and they'll remember you years later... You gotta steal from the carer. They got too much on them to be caring about the middle school kids who stole their fries... So you see that woman coming after those three toddlers, that's they momma. That's who we aiming for..."

Robyn played with her finger nails nodding as if she was listening. Really, she was patiently waiting for the moment when Chris would say to her "Run". Once the lady finally got out the door, Robyn made sure to keep her face hidden underneath her hood to keep from being seen by the curious children staring up at her...

The lady put her her three orders to the side to pick up one of the kids and put them in their buggy. Robyn groaned knowing that she was going to have to make her move for Chris to be anywhere near making an escape so she ran towards the car park looking back frantically until she finally stopped as she reached Chris's car and was out of three children's sight. When he finally caught up with her he felt her anger as she gazed up at him with irritation. He chuckled and waved the two orders in her face anyways,

"You didn't have to do that... but you did it for me and I'm thankful Robyn. Thanks baby girl" he smiled before hugging on to her tightly. She turned a bright red on his shoulder, breathing in the smell of freshly washed clothes and his lemon shaving cream. She could stay here like this forever...

"So this your lil car huh?" Robyn asked looking up and around wondering why in the world Chris would need such a nice car just for himself.

"Yuh... it ain't all that much" he shrugged plugging in his aux cord and slowly turning the dile on the radio till the music playing was at a comfortable volume. He turned his key in the ignition staring the car before heading off into the road. It was silent for a while, but almost immediately Robyn deemed to break it.

"What are you doing with a 6 seater Christopher?" She asked him as they stopped at a red light, slowly tilting her head at him suddenly interested to know the answer to a question which would probably be banal.

"A man's gotta have him a car to proud of... I ain't tryna ride round with no 2 seater best believe that." He said blankly still looking straight at the traffic light, almost as if silently praying that it would suddenly turn green.

"You ain't rich like that Christopher." She replied actively now getting fed up with his blank responses. He knew she wanted an answer by now, but he wasnt sure if this new Robyn would be ready to hear him out.

"How the hell would you know Robyn? You haven't seen me in almost 8 years, you think time stays still?" He reasoned shaking his head at her attitude lifting his foot of the break as the light finally changed.

"Why are you dodging my questions?" She frowned folding her arms across her chest while piercing her eyes through the side of his head. His jaw seemed to clench subconsciously at her persistence, maybe if he told her, she'd keep quiet.

"Just shut up Robyn. I don't know, I got this car when I was 19. My stupid ass thought I'd have a family by now. The only reason I came back to Virginia to find me a woman that I could find common ground with so she could birth my unworthy fucking kids. There, you happy?" he trailed off before turning swiftly onto another road. As though she almost left her seat from three sudden jerk of the car, she remained silent.

"Oh..."

He sighed as another silence passed between them. He turned up the volume of the radio to blanket the noises of his heavy breathing. Robyn knew that he was trying to hide his anger from her, but it was very clear that she had triggered him...

"Yeah, Oh."

>

"Wait where you going?" Robyn shouts suddenly shocking herself as both they hadn't talked until now, parked in her driveway.

"To your house, right?" He questioned her as if he shouldn't be asking at all. She hesitated placing head in her hand forcing herself to think of another excuse to use against Chris this time,

"N-no. I wanna listen to the radio, the music you listen to truly entices me..." she tells him hoping he'd take her apathetic flattery as complimentary so she wouldn't have to further herself, but of course Chris had always been sharp to picking up different emotions around him and Robyn's quick cover up wouldn't go past him all that easily.

"Robyn we've already been through all this what the fuck is it now? Is there something you're hiding from me?!"

"No! Look just get your ass back inside the car... I want to talk to you." she sighed having had enough of the ongoing arguement they had been having throughout the day. He grunted reluctantly before making his way back into the car, slamming the door behind him and looking to Robyn waiting for her to speak.

"Look Chris... it's obvious things have changed between us over the past years. There's things now that I'm a little slow to open up to you as I'm not sure whether it'll sit well with the new person you are to me. It'll take time, eventually I will ease onto you becuase you are my only close friend. But for now, please bear with me."

His eyes lowered as if he was going over everything she had just said to him. Deep down, he was highly offended about the fact that a few years of separation had caused Robyn to forget about how close they actually were.. but he saw that a lot was going through her mind right now and to pry into her rightfully private buisness would be disrespectful towards her, so he left it at what it was...

"It's cool, I'm sorry for not thinking about your personal problems. Let's hurry up and eat though before these fries all goes cold and shitty." He smiled digging into one of the bags to bring some fries and a double cheeseburger which he was content with. Robyn smiled back in relief at his understanding, though she knew she couldn't keep these things from him forever...

"But really... can you turn on the radio? The lyrics of the songs you listen to are really profound." She asked him as she explored her own bag of food, Chris nodded to agree taking a big bite into his burger.

"Yeah, I'm picky when I choose songs to jam to. If I can't relate in some way or the lyrics are meaningless, I don't listen at all." He spoke with a mouth full of food while Robyn tried to keep herself from laughing as what he was speaking about was actually very interesting to her,

"You relate to Tupac?" She asked him rembering the song they were listening to just before they entered her driveway. The lyrics were very heartfelt and deep, she couldn't imagine that Chris could relate to any of it. He nodded aging before putting his burger down to talk,

"Yeah, alot I guess... Come on, Come on, I see no changes I wake up in the morning and I ask myself, Is life worth living should I blast myself? I'm tired of bein' poor, even worse I'm black. My stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch..." he trailed off realizing Robyn's reaction and going quiet.

"I-I never would've thought
