Somewhere in a forest, there were knights that were taking a lot of fairy tale creatures into prison wagons and locked them up in chains. One was a talking donkey named Donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy), and he was scared of what's gonna happen to him and the other creatures. Aside the talking donkey, there were some dwarves, a witch or two, a living puppet named Pinocchio, a trio of talking pigs who hang out with a wolf who likes to dress up like a grandmother, and a family of three bears, a Papa Bear, a Mama Bear and a Baby Bear. Not far away, there was a family of Toons locked up in a cage, the first one was a grown up male fox named Roger D Fox (voiced by Chris Pratt), the second was a grown up female rabbit named Lyric D Rabbit (voiced by Veronica Taylor), and the last two were a young 10 year old fox boy named Tommy D Fox (voiced by Tara Strong), and a little 9 year old rabbit girl named Melody D Rabbit (voiced by Nancy Cartwright). Tommy: "Oh man... what's gonna happen to us?" Lyric: "I don't know sweetie... but it's gonna be okay..." Roger: "Your mother's right... just try to be brave..." Melody: "Okay..." suddenly, a trio of Demon Dragons showed up, and they were looking hungry. The red one was named ScreamClaw (voiced by Mark Hamill), the blue one was named ThunderSmacker (voiced by Jim Cummings), and the black one was named SpaceWarp (voiced by Frank Welker), and together they were known as the Demon trio. ScreamClaw: "Okay men... what do you got for us?" asked ScreamClaw, before the knights show the fairy tale creatures to them. Donkey: "Hey... how come they're not arresting those lizards?" asked Donkey to himself, which ScreamClaw heard and growled in anger. ScreamClaw: "Who said that?!, who just called us lizards?!" Donkey: "Uh... [looking at Tommy] he did..." Tommy: "What?!" ThunderSmacker: "Then we'll have his soul as punishment!" SpaceWarp: "Y-y-yeah... what he said..." Donkey: "What?!" Melody: "Leave my brother alone!" ThunderSmacker: "Shut up!" shouted ThunderSmacker, before he fires a beam from his pitch fork that blasted the cage and Donkey's chains into pieces, which course frees both Donkey and the Toon family. ScreamClaw: "You idiot!" ThunderSmacker: "Oops..." Roger: "Run Tommy!" Lyric: "Take your sister and run baby!, run!" Tommy: "But what about you?!" Roger: "Never mind us, just run, sport!" ThunderSmacker: "Seize them!" ordered ThunderSmacker, before Tommy and Melody began making a run for it, trying to get away from the Demon trio and their knights, while Donkey followed behind them. As they looked back, the Toon kids and Donkey bumped into an ogre named Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers), who glares at them before the Demon dragons and the knights came to the scene and they gasped by the sight of the ogre. ScreamClaw: "Uh... you there... ogre..." Shrek: "I?" ThunderSmacker: "By the order of Lord Farquaad... we're placing you under arrest and be shipped to a fairy tale... [seeing Shrek standing in front of him and the other demons] facility..." Shrek: "Oh really?... you and what army?" asked Shrek with a smile, before the demons looked behind to see that the knights have all fled, and the demons had no choice but to run off as well. Once Shrek turned around, he sees Donkey, Tommy and Melody looking up at him. Donkey: "Can I say something?, like you were really something back there." Tommy: "Yeah, you showed those rotten demons who's boss." Melody: "Thank you for saving us, Mr Ogre sir." Shrek: "Ugh... whatever... now go away and go home." Tommy: "We can't... those guys you scared off... they took it away... banished us just for being a freak or something..." Melody: "Yeah... ever since that meanie Farquaad took over after his father passed away... things have been really miserable..." Shrek: "Not my problem." Donkey: "Man... I can't believe those demons would try to steal a kid's soul just for them calling them a lizard..." Tommy: "You're the one who called them a lizard!" Melody: "And put the blame on my brother!" Donkey: "Oh right... sorry..." Shrek: "Why don't you just go away already?!" Donkey: "Why should we?" Shrek: "Listen you three, take a look at me, what am I?" Donkey: "Um... really tall?" Tommy: "Really green?" Shrek: "No!, I'm an ogre!, you know, grab your torch and pitchforks, doesn't that bother you?" Donkey: "Nope." Shrek: "Really?" Donkey: "Really, really." Shrek: "Oh..." Donkey: "I like you, what's your name?" Shrek: "Um... Shrek." Tommy: "Interesting name... I'm Tommy D Fox, and this is my sister, Melody D Rabbit." Melody: "Hi." Shrek: "Huh?, but you're a fox and she's a rabbit." Melody: "Our mama's a rabbit while daddy's a fox... oh... mama and daddy..." Tommy: "It's okay Melody... we'll save them somehow..." Donkey: "Hey... isn't that them over there?" asked Donkey, before Shrek and the others see the fairy tale creatures in the swamp. Shrek: "Huh?!, WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING IN MY SWAMP?!" asked Shrek in rage, which startled all of the Fairy Tale creatures in the swamp. Tommy: "Mom!, dad!" Roger: "Sport!" Lyric: "Thank goodness you're both okay!" Melody: "But... what are you doing here?" Roger: "Turns out that this is the facility where the guards were taking us." Lyric: "Yes, we were forced to come here." Shrek: "By who?!" Roger: "Lord Farquaad of course, the ruler of the kingdom of Duloc himself." Shrek: "Alright... who knows where this Farquaad lives." Donkey: "I know where he is." Tommy: "Me too." Melody: "Me three." Shrek: "Um... does anyone else know where to find him?" Roger: "Well we would guide you... but the Demon Dragons cast a spell on us to prevent us from leaving here." Lyric: "That's true... we're trapped here..." Donkey: "But I'm able to leave." Tommy/ Melody: "Us too." Shrek: "Oh... okay fine... attention all Fairy Tale things, do not get comfortable, your welcome here has worn out, in fact I'm going to meet this Farquaad guy, telling him to get out off of my land and back to where you came from!" shouted Shrek, which of course made everyone cheered as they believed that it meant they could go back home. Soon, Shrek goes off to begin his quest, while Donkey, Tommy and Melody followed behind him. Donkey: "Here we go, the four of us are going on a noble quest." Tommy: "Don't worry mom... dad... we'll get you back soon..." Melody: "Yeah..." said Tommy and Melody, looking back at the swamp where their parents were trapped in, before them, along with Shrek and Donkey went off to begin their quest.
