Nights at Camp Half-Blood used to be peaceful, tranquil and serene. The rain would drizzle and moisten the soil as soft snores could be heard from the cabins. The chitter-chatter of the animals scurrying around the woods, the quiet crunch of leaves and the whistle of the wind used to be the only sounds one could hear at night.

Nights at Camp Half-Blood were beautiful, the hustle-bustle of the campers gone and instead replaced with the crashing, yet calming waves of the ocean.

Now, after two wars, the explosions and all the bloodshed, nights at Camp Half-Blood are filled with screams. Screams of pain. Of terror. Memories. Deaths. Filled with the violent waves of the ocean, the thunderous sky,  and the shake of the ground as our demigods try to sleep.

If you listen closely, screams of "Annabeth" will come from the Poseidon cabin as our hero, Percy Jackson will hastily rub his eyes and run to the Athena cabin to make sure his girlfriend is ok. On his way there, he'll look up at the stars and his eyes will water once more.

You can hear our grey-eyed savior yelling for her brother, the Destroyer. The Monster. Yelling for him to come back, not to leave her and their family. She will call out for the boy with the ice-blue eyes, tell him to come back home. But he's long gone.

Weeping can be heard from the Aphrodite Cabin as the brunette-haired girl cries and screams for her best friend to hug her again, to make a joke. The older children sob for their sister, the sister who will forever be a hero.

The red-haired satyr can be heard talking in his sleep. Talking to the dryads, nymphs and spirits who gave up their lives. Gave up their lives for our demigods. Grover sobs quietly, praying to the gods to not take away the rest of his friends too.

The boy with the scar on his lip screams for his sister, a sister he misses. He screams for his brother, the brother with the curly brown-hair. The brother who he wants back. The brother he will look for till he finds him.

You can hear the weeping from the child in the Dionysus Cabin, calling out for his brother, Castor. The brother he thinks of everyday. The brother who he is nothing without.

If you listen, quiet sobs will come from the boy with the monstrous black eyes. From the boy who has lost everything. He screams in pain as the memory of his sister being taken away from him plays over and over again.  Screams because the memories are too much for him.

Shouts can be heard from the prankster brothers as they cry together, mourning over the loss of their siblings. Their brothers, whom they loved. Their sisters, whom they will never forget. The boy whom they thought they could trust.

The sisters from the Demeter Cabin wail over the deaths of the nymphs they were friends with. Over their baby brother who was taken from them, far too early. The two girls cry as they hold onto each other, scared that the other will go away too.

Sobs will come from the Hephaestus Cabin, from small Harley, crying for his brother to come back. The brother who disappeared, who left him. The other children can be heard crying for Charlie, a brother who left as well.

You can even hear cries from the Ares Cabin where Clarisse screams and thrashes in her sleep as she relives the death of her best friend. As the memory of her boyfriend's worst moments come back to her. The sobs which escape her when she thinks of her siblings who she will never see again.

Even for our demigods who seem to be the happiest, sleep takes that from them and replaces it with emptiness. Our head counselor breaks into a sweat as he sees his older brothers die and he is left to look after his other siblings. The ginger-haired girl calls out to her brother whom she misses with all her heart. Who will never come back to her.

And sleep does not even let the god who resides at camp have a quiet night. He douses the pain he feels when he saw his son die in the strawberry tinge of his favored drink. The drink he hopes will fix his shattered heart.

But nothing can fix it, not for him, nor anyone at camp.

They all simply try to get through the night.
