The two came out of the portal, as they saw a cave with moss growing on the sides, a wooden table nearby, with a few papers and a mechanical thing on top of it.

"... We're out." Ishi sighed, as she walked away.

Roku stared at this new place, as they ran over to the papers, and began trying to comprehend what were they.
Roku quickly realized he didn't know how to read.

Ishi waited for her brother to do whatever the hell he was doing right now, before Roku suddenly grabbed the mechanical thing, and disabled the portal.

"Roku, what are you doing-" Ishi looked at the portal, the sudden change from a bright red glow into nothing being there at all shocked her.

Roku stared at the place where the portal was, and just... Walked out of the cave.

Ishi followed, worried about him.
"Uh, Roku, what happened to ya?-" Ishi asked, with a worried tone.

"Nothing." Roku just continued walking forward, as they now stood on top of a hill, as the night sky reflected onto a small city on the ground.

Roku started down at it, and for a small while, he believed this was the end... But of course, he had second thoughts soon after.

"... Is that a village?" Roku asked Ishi.
"I dunno, but we should probably not go there, there could be enemies-"

Roku jumped down the hill, and ran into the town.

"ROKU WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING-" Ishi ran after Roku.

It was midnight, few mobians were out on the streets, most stores were closed, and Roku just ran over into a alleyway.

Ishi ran over, panting. "YOU- YOU COULD HAVE BEEN ATTACKED!"
Roku sat down on a wooden box nearby, as rain began setting in. "I'm strong now. No need to protect me."

Ishi stared at Roku, and sighed. "Well, guess all that training did work then."
"Sure did." Roku smirked.

"Now... We need to hide, it's night, if someone finds us, we could die."
Ishi said, before Roku looked over at a poster.

"Hm... Seems like mobians live 'ere. We could easily blend in." Roku pointed at the poster, while Ishi grunted.

"Hide in the midst of all these weak punks? HELL NO! There's a reason we got sharper fangs than those folk, they're just PREY!" Ishi ripped out the poster from the wall, and clawed it in half.

"... Look, we can be safer here. Mother's dead, the proteans can't reach us... I finally have a chance to live a good life... And ya gonna stop me from reaching it?" Roku stood up from the box, stepping over towards Ishi.

"I am finally strong after YEARS and YEARS of suffering and being pushed around, and you DARE interrupt me from doing something by my own choice for the first time in my life?" Roku looked up at Ishi, glaring at her.

Ishi stepped back, gulping. She couldn't believe this kid had courage after so many years of crying.

"I'LL CARVE MY IDENTITY, AND BE MY OWN PERSON NOW! I'LL BE ROKU! ME! AND NO ONE, WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!"

Roku screamed at Ishi, pointing at her. After years and years, he finally released all of that built up rage.

Ishi glared at Roku for a bit, irritated by the kid...

But then she crouched down, and patted them.
"Hmph, seems like ya finally grew a backbone, I'm proud of ya kid." Ishi smiled, proud of Roku for what seemed to be the first time in years.

Roku teared up a bit, but shaked off the sorrow, and hugged Ishi.

"Heh, guess I did." Roku smiled.

The rain slowly faded away, as the sun rose up, making it day.
"Hm... I'm a bit hungry now, could ya go get us some food while I make a little house for us?"
Roku walked back, as she asked Ishi.

"Yep, I was thinking the same thing, don't wanna rely eating the walls of this place."
Ishi chuckled, as she walked away.

"Oh and uh... Be safe, ok?" Roku asked, as Ishi nodded, giving a thumbs up before leaving...

A few hours later, Roku built a nice shack in the alleyway, blocking the entrance off with some pieces of scrap and a "DANGER" sign.

"Hm... Where's Ishi? I'm a bit hungry now." Roku peeked over the pieces of scrap, and saw people walking around, talking to each other, and etc.

Sure was more peaceful than home. Roku just spent hours staring at the streets, waiting for Ishi to come back home.

The hours soon turned into days, then even sooner into weeks, as Roku slowly starved himself in the corner, before deciding to just go out into the night in some search of food.

They jumped above the fence of scrap, and began looking around the cold streets for any sort of food.

He smelled something nice inside of a small 24/7 open shop, and sneaked below the counter, and followed the smell.

The building's inside had yellow glowing lights in the roof of the room, with metallic surfaces that held colorful cubes with multiple smells coming from them, with strange marks carved onto them.

Roku looked up in awe of such a beautiful area, and picked up a random box of oatmeal, and walked away, completely enthralled by such a wonderful place.

He then forgot there was a cashier guarding the place, that soon screamed at the weird looking toddler.

"OI KID! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT-" The man screamed at Roku.

Roku, did not understand English, and just ran away because of the man's screaming.
The man tried running at Roku, but Roku was surprisingly fast, quickly outrunning the mobian, and jumping back at their small hide-out.

He now bit into the cardboard box with some sort of disgust, but then bit again into the sweet, cold taste of oatmeal. The taste was, incredible. The sheer number of words Roku could use to describe the sweetness of such plain oatmeal, was large, but not larger, than Roku's sheer fucking love to this new food. Roku immediately devoured all of the box's contents, and sat down, thinking to himself.

Life, obviously wasn't good. Ishi was gone, they had no idea of their surroundings, but things felt like they were going to be better. With their little makeshift shack, that fucking godlike oatmeal and a reliable source of food by their side, Roku felt hopeful of their future, and soon fell asleep, somewhat happy.
