Lisa sat frozen on the cold pavement, her mind struggling to comprehend what had just happened. Her brother—her only family left—had taken the ledger and vanished into the night. The look in his eyes, the coldness in his voice—it was as if the Minho she had grown up with was gone, replaced by someone unrecognizable.

The rapid burst of gunfire from behind snapped her back to reality. She scrambled to her feet, her pulse racing. Jungkook was still holding off the attackers, but it was clear they were outnumbered. He couldn’t hold them off much longer.

"Lisa!" Jungkook’s voice cut through the chaos as he ducked behind a metal dumpster for cover. "We need to move!"

She hesitated, glancing in the direction Minho had disappeared. Her brother. Her father’s secrets. Everything was unraveling faster than she could process.

“Now, Lisa!” Jungkook’s voice was sharper this time, full of urgency.

Shaking off the shock, Lisa sprinted toward him, her lungs burning as she ran. Jungkook fired another round at the approaching men, buying them precious seconds.

As she reached him, Jungkook grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the shadows of the narrow alley. His face was grim, but his eyes were fierce with determination. “We need to get out of here,” he said, his voice low and intense. “They’ll be after Minho now. We can’t let them find him first.”

Lisa’s heart clenched. “Minho… he—he took the ledger.”

Jungkook’s expression darkened. “I know.”

“Why would he do this?” she whispered, her voice breaking. “He was supposed to help us. He’s my brother.”

Jungkook’s gaze softened for just a moment. “People do desperate things when they’re scared. But we can’t waste time. Minho’s in over his head, and now they’re all going to be after him.” He paused, eyes narrowing. “And after us.”

Lisa wiped her tears, straightening herself as she nodded. “What do we do?”

“We find Minho,” Jungkook said, his voice steady. “We get the ledger back before anyone else can.”

---

They moved quickly, keeping to the shadows, slipping through the narrow streets of the city as the night deepened around them. Lisa’s thoughts swirled with questions. What had driven Minho to betray her? What did he know that she didn’t? And what exactly was in that ledger that made it worth all this chaos?

Jungkook led them to an old warehouse on the outskirts of the city—a place he said was safe, at least for now. Inside, the air was thick with dust, and the dim light from a single bulb barely illuminated the space.

“We’ll regroup here,” Jungkook said, scanning the area. “I have some contacts who can help us track Minho.”

Lisa leaned against a wooden crate, her hands trembling. “I don’t understand,” she muttered. “Why would Minho betray me? We were supposed to be in this together.”

Jungkook crossed the room, his footsteps slow and deliberate. “Your father’s ledger is more dangerous than you realize. It’s not just a list of names—it’s leverage. Whoever controls it has power over some of the most dangerous people in the world. Your brother… maybe he saw that as his way out.”

Lisa’s head snapped up. “His way out?”

Jungkook’s jaw tightened. “He’s been on the run for years, hasn’t he? From your father’s enemies, from his own past. Taking the ledger could be his way of bargaining, cutting a deal to save himself.”

Lisa felt a pang of pain in her chest. Minho… her brother. Had he really sunk so deep that he would betray his own family for a chance at survival?

Jungkook walked over, his eyes meeting hers. “I know it’s hard to accept. But right now, we need to focus on finding him before they do. He’s in more danger than he realizes.”

Lisa nodded, though the ache in her heart didn’t fade. She had to find Minho—if not to save him, then at least to understand why he had done this.

---

Hours passed as Jungkook worked his contacts, trying to track down Minho’s location. Lisa sat in silence, her mind replaying the moment over and over—Minho’s smirk as he took the ledger, the coldness in his eyes.

Jungkook finally approached her, his expression grim but determined. “I’ve got a lead. Someone saw Minho near the old docks. We need to move now.”

Lisa stood, determination hardening her resolve. “Let’s go.”

---

The docks were quiet, the faint sound of water lapping against the boats the only noise in the stillness of the night. Jungkook moved with careful precision, his eyes scanning every shadow, every corner.

Lisa’s heart pounded in her chest as they made their way down the dockyard. She had grown up trusting Minho, believing in him. Now, every step felt like she was walking deeper into a betrayal she still couldn’t fully understand.

“There,” Jungkook whispered, pointing toward a figure standing at the edge of the pier. Even in the darkness, Lisa recognized the silhouette—it was Minho.

They approached slowly, keeping to the shadows. But just as they neared him, something unexpected happened.

The soft click of a gun being cocked echoed through the air. From behind the crates, men emerged, their faces hidden by masks. They surrounded Minho, their weapons trained on him.

Lisa’s breath caught in her throat.

Jungkook tensed beside her. “We’re too late.”

Minho stood frozen, the ledger still in his hands. One of the masked men stepped forward, his voice cold and commanding. “Hand it over, and you might live.”

Minho’s grip on the ledger tightened, his face pale with fear. He glanced down at the book, his eyes darting around, searching for a way out.

Lisa wanted to scream, to run to him, to beg him to stop before it was too late. But she was frozen in place, helpless as the scene unfolded.

And then, in a moment that seemed to stretch forever, Minho did the unthinkable.

With a sharp movement, he flung the ledger into the dark, churning waters below.

“No!” Lisa cried out, stepping forward as if she could somehow stop it.

The men roared in fury, guns raised, and in the blink of an eye, gunfire erupted, echoing through the night.

The last thing Lisa saw was Minho’s terrified face before everything went black.

---

The sound of rushing water filled her ears as she opened her eyes, her vision blurred. She was lying on the cold, wet dock, the taste of salt and blood in her mouth. Jungkook was beside her, his eyes wide with shock as he pulled her up.

“Minho!” she gasped, but her brother was nowhere to be seen.

Jungkook’s face was grim as he stared out into the black water, where the ledger—and Minho—had disappeared.

And just like that, everything was lost.

E...very....thing...l-lost....
