HEY RICH...

My Squip was bussing in my ear. I tried to keep a straight face. It was getting dark and I had been driving on the highway for hours. Jake was asleep snoring softly. I was blushing hard.

RICHARD?

"Fine. I'll talk to you," I muttered, glancing over to see if I woke Jake. He shifted in his sleep. "So cute," I muttered, smiling bitting my tongue.

Good. I need some emotional support...

"Emotional support?!" I snorted, "you're a being that shouldn't feel emotions, right?" I grunted. I reached behind Jakes chair for my jacket. I drapped it over his chest. He reached up smiling in his sleep, bringing the jacket closer to his head.

FOCUS ON ME! I know I shouldn't be feeling emotions... I'M BREAKING THE SYSTEM!

The Squip wailed in my ear. I drove off the interstate and found a gas station where I parked the car for the night.

"It's okay, we just have t-" Jake grunted uncomfortably, I saw that his eyes were now open and he was staring at me.

"W-Who are you talking to?" I shut him up with a quick kiss. Our third kiss, I wasn't counting. Nobody was counting. Was I counting? Oh, GODS! I was counting, wasn't I? it was nice, not to hear the Squip's voice in my head. Jake smiled. I threw myself against the door of the car.

"I-I-" I realized I was stuttering. Was that my voice? Why was it so shaky? Why wasn't my Squip doing something? I raised my hand to open the car door, I was shaking.

"Where are you going?" Jake whispered. I jumped, I realized that Jake was looking at me with his no-judgment eyes. I realized that we were parked outside the 7-11.

"I-I'm getting some Mountain Dew," I announced opening the car door. I wanted to slam the door and not hear his beautiful voice. I couldn't though. I was too nice. I couldn't break his heart.

"Why?" Jake questioned. I froze he must have noticed. "Why do you need Mountian Dew THIS EARLY in the morning?" 

TELL HIM YOU NEED IT TO WAKE UP INSTEAD OF COFFEE. That's what you need to say. Say it.

I was frozen, even my Squips threats weren't doing anything. "Because!" I quipped. I threw the door open and made my way outside. Why did I say that?
