"We-we were helping WCKD while helping the Right Arm?" Winston asked with a weird confused face, "I'm confused,"

"Well," You started, "Some of us were, some of us weren't. Some of the boys that were brought here were from the Right Arm. Some of the boys were from WCKD. We were different. Some people, like Teresa, were really helping WCKD. We weren't. Well, we were just doing what we were told. Working the computers, helping make a blue print for the Maze, et cetera. But we didn't believe in what we were doing. We heard that the Right Arm attacked one of the hundreds of labs WCKD had. We found out where they were going to strike next and we were sent there to 'compromise'," You did air quotes when you said compromise, "or so that's what WCKD thought. We did talk to them. But not about what WCKD wanted us to. We talked about how we wanted to help and set up a plan to keep it a secret. It worked out for months, until I got sent here. I don't know what happened after that because I was a little too busy slowly going insane."

"Wait," Minho interjected, "Are we all remembering this? Or is it just me, Newt, and (Y/N)?"

"Only you, Newt, and (Y/N)," River sighed, "I didn't have time to unplug everyone else's wire,"

"Wire?" Frypan asked, "What are you talking about?"

Should I explain, or do you want to take this one? You telepathically asked Newt only.

These bloody guys, always needin' me to explain everythin', Newt replied with an exaggerated mental sigh. You cracked a smile.

"Each of our mind-chip-things is set up to a control panel. That's where WCKD, well, controls what you remember and what you don't. When it's unplugged they can't simply just plug it back in without a passcode, only we know it. That was what we were put to do. They can't control what we think now. But, only for me, Minho, and (Y/N)."

"But how did River, a four year old, figure out how to kill the brain chips?" Gally asked.

"She's smarter than most. Believe me. Plus, all she had to do was close everything on the screen and pull the plug," You stated.

"How could she have done it with people there? That room is on twenty-four hour security," Minho stated.

"I still wonder why they would put us in there to work," You mumbled, "When exactly did you do all that?"

"When they were on their lunch break," River stated cheerfully, "They left the door open and the computers on. They are really bad at that job,"

"How did you get passed the security cameras?" Newt asked.

River thought for a moment and reached into the top of her tattered, princess style dress and pulled out blue, pink, and purple markers. "I colored on them,"

You smiled at River's cuteness. How was it possible to be that cute? Outside, something rumbled. At first you thought it was the doors closing. "Alby? What time is it?"

Alby glanced at his watch. "Not time for the doors to close,"

There was another rumble, this time you realized it was thunder. There was a soft pitter patter on the window and the dirt under the window started to turn a darker shade of brown.

"It's raining," Thomas said with disgust.

"Raining? Why is it raining? It never rains in the Glade," Gally said, his tone resembled the disgust in Thomas' voice, but it was harsher.

"Wait," You said with a sudden realization, "Didn't the Maze have a dome over it? Like a screen?"

"It did," Newt said, "I saw the sun yesterday. They must have taken it off,"

"How do you just 'take off' a giant screen?" Minho asked, mockingly.

Newt rolled his eyes. You could tell he was not in the mood.

"Just close the window," You groaned.

Alby walked over and closed the window right as something hit it. You caught a glimpse of the object and it look suspiciously like a bone.

"What was that?" Winston asked.

"Nothing we want to get involved with," Newt said, flatly.

There was a 'bang' at the door. The door wobbled on its hinges. Minho rushed over and pushed on it trying to keep whatever that was out. A blood curdling screech ripped through the air. It didn't sound human.

"Cranks," Thomas stated, rushing over to help Minho. When the rest of the guys came to their senses, they ran over to help.

"Why can't we get a day off?" Minho complained.

"Welcome," You motioned around with your hands, "To the new and improved Glade. A torture device created to kill naughty teenagers,"

River whimpered and scooted closer to you. She turned and rested her head on your lap. You put your hands behind you to rest on. Even though fear coursed through your veins, you tried to remain calm for River. You looked down at the four year old. She played with the strands of hair that fell in your face.

The Cranks were now beating on the window. You gave River a weak smile and looked at the others. There seemed to be less Cranks then before.

"Where're they going?" You asked.

"They're running back into the Maze," Thomas stated.

There was a silence that fell over all of you. The only thing there was to hear was breathing. Newt walked over and sat down next to you.

"That was really fast," Winston said.

"Yeah, that's not normal. They usually stay and try to rip your brain out," Gally said.

River made a light shrieking sound and covered her face with her hands. You reached up and slapped Gally's knee. You looked at him and mouth 'What's wrong with you?' In return he gave Newt that 'What'd I do?' look.

It was going to be a long journey for you.
