Part revolves around the nation's need to retool itself and upgrade the skills of its human resources to meet the demands of a globally competitive economy. But a major part of the debate has made university admissions policies a kind of academic, ideological, and cultural battleground in which we are asked to perform a sorting function for the larger society. All of these are troubling and difficult issues. Before taking them up, we want to make several general observations about the nature of the access problem: 1. Access to our institutions will become one of the defining domestic policy issues in coming years. It is already on the public agenda; it will become even more urgent as we move on. Ending Poverty One Step at a Time

Ending Poverty One Step at a Time

1 0 1

For many years, poverty has been a struggling issue for many people within the US. This is often caused by inflation, lack of education, and lack of affordable housing. This leads to unmet essential needs for stable living and denies access to most employment opportunities. These struggles make it difficult for people to maintain a stable life for themselves or their families. According to Cenus.gov, more than 35 million people in the US are living in poverty. This is more than a quarter of the total population in the US. Taking action is essential for bringing change and helping people slowly make their way out of poverty. Whether it's volunteering at a local soup kitchen or bringing awareness about poverty, any action, big or small, can help bring a better world for those in need. For those living in poverty, maintaining stability is challenging, especially when they are also responsible for caring for their loved ones. Living in poverty alone is already a struggle enough but add an entire family and that's twice the amount of stress and struggle. As those who are fortunate enough to have stability in life, it's easy to overlook the issues of poverty or homelessness because it doesn't directly affect us. However, those living in poverty face daily challenges with a constant reminder that they aren't as fortunate. This can take a toll on not only someone's emotional state, but also their physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. Additionally, the lack of resources and opportunities can create a sense of hopelessness and perpetrate the cycle of poverty across many generations. In order to break this cycle, we must recognize poverty as an issue and take the necessary steps to address its root causes.…
