Clans such as Sarutobi, Hyuga, Yamanaka, Nara and Senju were still intact however there are only a 3 shinobi left in the Uchiha Clan: Khojan, Yahiko and Nomi. They were born towards the end of the war and were found by the Fifth Hokage. With no knowledge about the war, the fifth Hokage took them under her wing and trained them as her students and taught them the 5 basic chakra natures: Wind, Fire, Water, Earth and Lightning. At 8 years old, Khojan Uchiha was the first to awaken the Uchiha clan's unique eye called the sharingan. This dojutsu is an ability that allows a ninja to copy, by mere sight, their opponents' techniques while gaining incredible reflexes and perceptive abilities. With his new eyes, Khojan read the scrolls in the Hokage's Library and tried to find information about his clan's history. He found a scroll that was very hard to read, so he used his sharingan to decrypt it. As he learnt the hard truth about his clan, he was caught by the Fifth Hokage. She explained the Uchiha clan's history and the incredible power that comes with the sharingan. Khojan promised to keep their interaction a secret to protect Yahiko and Nomi.
